  1. Seems like it's always "Hey we're close to a deal" in the evening, and then the next day its "Players won't budge"....which leads me to wonder if it's the owners leaking the "hey we're close to a deal" news to Heyman and Nightengale knowing full well they aren't close to a deal.
  2. I've heard a lot of stories of people actually saving money by going back to one parent at home. Less money on transit, less money on daycare/babysitting, less money on lunches, etc. etc.
  3. Colts just traded Carson Wentz. I believe they were rumored to really like Jordan Love. Some surmised this is why the Packers traded up so the Colts couldn't get him.
  4. Nightengale says, so take with grain of salt, that international draft is last sticking point to get past.
  5. By International Draft I assume they mean the Caribbean islands, and not the entire world. It’s hard to picture any MLB club having a complex scouting system in Japan, and directly competing with the Japanese League for players. I assume so. It's an amateur draft and the Japanese guys are professionals. Not sure how it would work for other parts of the world.
  6. I learned this morning that Love is younger than Pickett
  7. Love to Seahawks?
  8. I read something a while back from a scout that said Love was better than any QB coming out in the draft this year and it wasn't particularly close.
  9. Not if they draft well
  10. Seattle needs a new head coach.
  11. Rodgers was plugging up the NFL GI tract.
  12. Yeah you figured this was coming at some point to some player. Doesn't surprise me they dropped the full season hammer. This is where I don’t like the NFL police. It’s all well and fine to give him a 1 year suspension, not gonna argue that. But what’s insane to me is he gets a year for gambling but guys like Kareem Hunt gets 8 games for beating a woman. How on earth is gambling a longer offense? Yeah it's kind of a joke.

  14. Highly doubt a bigger base will shorten the distance, as the home plate-facing edges at 1st and 3rd can still be positioned exactly 90' from the plate. My geometry is out of practice - but I think the difficulty in maintaining exactly 90' between the bags gets iffy at 2B - is the rule change to change the bag size at all 3 bases or just 1st? If it's all 3 bases, there might be a slightly shorter distance to and from 2B if they want to keep the bags perfectly aligned - that could be resolved by slightly shifting 2nd back and over a couple inches to preserve 90' from the inside corner of that bag to both 1st and 3rd base, the rest of the base would just appear to be a little off center. Going from 15 inches to 18 inches in diameter will shorten the distance about half a foot in the aggregate. Not only will it help fielders turn more double plays, it will likely result in more stolen bases and infield hits. Can it lead to more double plays and more infield hits? Seems like it'd be one or the other.
  15. If they really wanted to change the game they'd move the fences back about 30 feet in every ballpark. Mark Kotsay would have had fun playing CF
  16. Re shift ban....won't guys just start to move into position as the pitcher starts his delivery?
  17. I actually think the pitch clock could lead to more injuries. Will Carroll mentioned this the other day.
  18. Apparently, they've agreed to ban shifts, implement a pitch clock, and make the bases bigger:
  19. I think it boils down to the fact that Brian doesn't have time to maintain things. No, I mean why does the site have to move to a different host or whatever? One reason is if this site goes down, no one but Brian knows how to fix it.
  20. I think this makes some sense: "12 wielding the power and influence of his position to help 17 feels like the most likely answer to most of the remaining questions on his decision."
  21. I think Leo Chenal may have made some money at the combine:
  22. Florio can pound sand: From Demovsky: "Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said this week at the combine that he hasn't gotten a single call about trading Rodgers and, per a source, this remains true: The Packers have NOT engaged in trade talks with any teams about Rodgers." Maybe they got over a hundred calls. That's not "A Single" call and the Packers can parse words like Rodgers does. Doesn't mean that they didn't give Rodgers the go ahead to reach out and discuss contract with teams and compensation for the Packers. Doesn't mean the Packers have to agree to the compensation, but that it's a starting point. The Packers don't have to start negotiating until Rodgers makes his decision. There's also this: Matt Schneidman: "Contrary to an overnight report, the Packers have not lined up any trades for Aaron Rodgers, according to a source."

  24. I think it boils down to the fact that Brian doesn't have time to maintain things.
  25. This is a great hire, IMO. I really like Curt. I think he'll do a great job.
