Expanding the NCAA tournament from 48 to 64 hasn't really changed who regularly makes the Final Four but it has created some amazing moments in the round of 64 and 32. I still say a 6 team playoff with week 1 bye for seeds 1 and 2 makes a lot of sense and would be fun as hell.

So Jack Coan is torching OK St in their bowl game. Jack seems like a smart kid, is it possible he saw Mertz look awesome in practice and said "Well, I better bail because I won't be starting." I don't think he transfers if he sees Mertz play like butt in practice.

I don't think an extended playoff necessarily has to have new blood in the final game to have meaning and be fun. For example, a 6 teamer with Bama and Georgia getting a bye first round would have been cool. Michigan and Cincy would have been a great game.
