  1. I see no malaise in this statement. Were you not searching for something to rip Ned about? You took dixie's post and ran with it as a reason to rip Ned Yost. My opinion was that the only reason to point out that it was a managing error (it wasn't) was to twist the knife in Ned's back a little bit more.
  2. This is what I said, Hoffy... You then came back accusing me of being in Ned's family, not believing in free speech, being too dumb because I'm from Georgia (???) to understand Midwestern logic, etc, etc...I have to ask, who attacked who here? You are putting words in my mouth. Attempting to play the martyr here will get you nowhere. It's been proven time and time again.
  3. I stand up for the team's manager, and you start ripping me? That's fair. If you are so into the right to have opinions, why aren't you standing up for my right to vocally disagree with you? That is the basis of a message board, right?
  4. Well, Prince just batted against a power righty. Are you happy?
  5. Trust me, when Ned makes a mistake, I have no problem with someone pointing it out, or pointing it out myself. But when I see the guy getting ripped for no reason, for something that WORKED for the team, yeah, I'm gonna defend him. Ned takes enough bashing here without you starting in the the decisions that work.
  6. Why can't Prince be used later, like in the 9th? Helms hit a leadoff double...what more do you want? Between the game thread on Monday (people complaining that the subs weren't used in the right way) and today, I'm beginning to think that some people just can't be happy unless they are complaining and second guessing something. The Brewers won on Monday. Wes hit a double today! I don't mind complaining when it's warranted, but come on!
  7. Wes Helms is one of the top PH in the league this year. Prince Fielder is a 21 year old rookie with VERY limited experience. I'm failing to see where the managing errors are, unless you are just searching for something to rip on Ned about. It isn't Ned's fault this team can't score a runner from 2nd with no outs, or that the ump's strike zone unexplainably just became the size of a Lincoln Town Car.
  8. This team's ability to make crappy pitchers look outstanding is simply astonishing. I'm pretty sure that Vic Santos could throw a shutout against this lineup.
  9. Most announcers? Our announcers (at least Bill) probably didn't know that. I don't think I've seen a professional announcer that knows less than Bill about the team he works for.
  10. THESE are the kinds of questions we should have been askign Mark Attanasio during his chat, and not personnel questions. This has to change if this team is ever going to get a strong fan base.
  11. But ripping a manager for leaving his dominating starting pitcher (who is also a good bunter) in the game when our bullpen has been horrible does.
  12. How about the old "Ned Yost is such an idiot. Everybody can see you don't do that!" option? If you are going to rip, rip unilaterally please.
  13. DougJones43, your "hindsight is 20-20" method of posting is getting quite old. What happens if Branyan pinch hits for Ben and hits into a double play? Julio Santana or a suddenly-sucky Matt Wise come in, with all the Cards good players lurking on the bench. A good bunt by Ben should have scored Hall from 3rd. If Magruder was a major league hitter, he should have been able to hit in the clutch. They didn't.
  14. Magruder is expected to be a major league player. It is NOT Ned's fault he is on this team. All of you blame Ned, or Ben....I blame Chris Magruder. It was his job to hit in the clutch, and he didn't. Yes, nobody else did, either, but that isn't the point. Magruder is on this team because he is supposed to be able to hit the ball. He didn't. He failed.
  15. I, too, would love to see a season at or above .500. However, I have learned through being a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers for many years that getting my hopes up is basically throwing a gallon of gas on the fire of punishing disappointment.
  16. Hey, so the Packers play the Chargers tomorrow on ESPN. Personally, I can't wait to see that J.T. O'Sullivan/Cleo Lemon matchup.
  17. Doug Davis, Career = 49-49 4.35 ERA I'm failing to see how Suppan isn't the right-handed Doug Davis. Suppan has been around forever for a reason. He's pretty good. Both are average ML starters, and will have their great days and not so great days. It just so happens that Suppan tends to schedule his great days against the Brewers, just like Ohka always kills the Phillies. What's worse? Being a Phillie fan knowing you are going up against Tomo Ohka, or being a Brewer fan with Jeff Suppan on the radar?
  18. Wow, thats a first. Three minutes after Izzy unleashes the last pitch to Wes, we have our first "must win" post for Friday's game.
  19. Jeff Suppan is basically the right-handed Doug Davis. No shame in being beat by him. He's done it to teams for a long time.
  20. Well, on a positive note... this Ben Sheets kid is pretty darn good.
  21. www.jsonline.com/sports/brew/aug05/346125.asp Cool! I don't know why, but this kind of fluff stuff always makes me happy. I love Major League.
  22. I had to do a double take before I saw the person who posted this. Now I completely understand.
  23. Ahh, the self-actualized baseball fan. So many never achieve that high level.
  24. bucksman, I think its your method of voicing your displeasure, rather than your means. As someone said eariler, seeming happy (even though we all know you aren't) when the home team falters, and writing off the game as a loss in the 3rd inning usually pisses off even the most casual fan. As you can tell, the majority of us here aren't casual. We're feeling the same frustration you are, but rather than lose all hope, we prefer to keep it.
