  1. Though Rickie did commit an error, it is somewhat heartening to see that he was a part, in liklihood, of a good portion of those 5 double plays....game-time situations in which he learns that footwork will be crucial, and is why he is participating in this league in the first place.
  2. I would love to savor LaRussa's pain after this one....
  3. I am very happy to see that the Snaps showed their resiliance and came back to win this series....the next series should be very interesting, as Lansing has excellent pitching, though their O leaves something to be desired (the awesomely named Felix Pie nonwithstanding).
  4. completely overhaul the ushering at Miller Park. My earlier experience at the park during a Cub game made me realize that the doddering geezers that appear to hate their very existence should not be ushers - especially at Cub games, as the soulless cretins that race up from the Chicago suburbs can get away with murder.....I for one think it is abominable that a Brewer fan should literally feel intimidated in his own park.....if Mr. Payne really wants to make a positive impression amongst Brewer fans in regard to the Cub series issue, he must find a way to change the hostile environment the Brewer fans have been experiencing at their own park at the hands of our ungracious visitors from the south.
  5. Just got back from the Beloit game, and here are a couple of impressions. One, Gwynn and Weeks impressed the heck out of me tonight...my, oh my can Gwynn stroke it in the clutch, and Weeks swing is so sweet, and his eye is so acute that I think we have a Lofton/Sheffield duo in these two. Two, Prince hit an opposite field homer in the first....personally, I think Prince can make a lot of improvements yet....he still has a lot of work to do on several aspects of the game.....and that is what is scary....if he improves the way I think he can, he can be Willie McCovey Third, Bausher was pathetic.....I went down to the bullpen area to watch him warmup as the Snappers scored 5, and he started throwing a hissy fit when the T-Rats manager pulled his own pitcher with 2 outs in the 9th - as Bausher felt the game was over, so why bother.....well he proceeded to come in and stink up the joint, leaving Huizenga the task of finishing up the game.... Fourth, I think Rich Sauveur - the pitching coach is major league quality....I got a chance to see him work with the pitchers and was impressed - maybe Housman owes some success to him... All in all, a very fun game to watch.
  6. At least he was actually trying to win! Has there ever been an intelligent fan who believed a player was trying to get out? What a silly statement. Al, someday I will have to tell you the story of Gary Sheffield in a Brewer uniform.
  7. .....because to me, I see a lot of managers that make rather odd baseball decisions, yet are widely recognized as quality skippers. Now let's see if I can find someone that was Yost's mentor that might match that description.....oh yeah - Bobby Cox. I think every fan that has seen the Braves in the postseason will agree that Cox game decisions are a bit scrambled. However, he has proven to be an excellent manager of ballplayers - making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Simply, Yost's ability to craft quality seasons out of players like Pods and Kolb is as much a testement to the skills of Yost as anything else. To call Yost brain dead may seem to be warrented when looking at single decisions solely. However, when looking at the sum of Yost's parts, calling him brain dead is fully UNwarrented.
  8. Just got back from the Snappers game.....good pitching matchup.....once Sarfate matures a little bit, I think he has a chance to be very good on a high level....he was throwing 94 consistantly on 2 strike counts.....offensively, their pitcher, T.A. Fulmer was keeping the bats off balance with his 86 mph fastball and good control of his off speed pitches....for being lefties, both Gwynn and Fielder were made to look bad on pitches at their ankles.......Gwynn laid down a perfect bunt for a single, and Crabbe needs to find a position, because he can really hit.....for guys with good numbers, I was disappointed with the stuff of both Baker and Hall - very ordinary.
  9. Adam Heether played for Beloit last night, so I think the Arizona boxscore is mistaken.
  10. Sorry to disagree guys but Jim Powell is one of my favorites. He is smart, analytical and is a fan without being blind. I mean, seriously - give me a freaking break, he was obviously bantering with Uecker - having fun - and wasn't comparing records......to go off on such a tangent against him is just typical Geno stuff....self-pandering aggrandizement that only serves to tear down a part of the Brewers that actually gives a rip.... Actually now that I think about it, I am not so sorry to disagree.
