  1. I don't know if you can say Ben Ford "Blew" the game. Pitched a solid inning then looked pretty good until Zeile happened to get to 1st after striking out twice (once for sure). That was probably the least consistent and worst called games behind the plate since I had to call balls and strikes for a little league game from behind the pitcher. Brewers need to take the same approach in Extra Innings that they do in the first 9. Look to go the other way. It seems everyone is trying to drive the ball out of the park in extra innings.
  2. Night to sleep on it and still feel the same. I am not down on Obie or Bennett. The decision not to pinch hit for Obie, then bring in Bennett with a clean slate still bugs me. The excuse hindsight is 20/20 will not cut it because 75% of the Brewer fans watching were thinking the same thing. Wins for this team are not going to be easy to come by, when you have a chance to grab one you take it.
  3. Errors or not I was pretty ticked when Obie was batting in the 7th. For the lone fact that everyone new they were going to have to bring someone in for him in the bottom of the inning anyway. He is solid 2 times through the order for the most part, but 3rd and 4th times are scaring. Obie leaves the game without recording an out. Little frustrated right now on how Yost is handling the bullpen/starting pitchers. This is a game were the Brewers dominated for 6 innings, but it will go for nothing. "Well we played solid baseball though" I like solid baseball, but can we get a win once in awhile.
  4. Anyone ever take a look at Jimmy Haynes' numbers against Milwaukee since he was given the boot, he turns into Wade Miller when he is facing the Brewers. The Brewers turn a lot of people into allstars. They wouldn't be the Brewers we know and love otherwise.
  5. A lot of piss and venom in this thread simply because a guy doesn't like a nickname of a low A ball catcher. Wow. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif No MLB game to watch can drive people to crazy things.
  6. "Sweet Lou" Donaldson Born 1926. Jazz/Soul Musician
  7. So does this mean we have the worst starting 1B in the league tonight? Not quite... while I'm not sure if he's starting *tonight*, Ty Wigginton of the Mets is hitting .162 with a .275 on-base average and .496 OPS. Not much worse than Wesley Ray Helms, but he deserves credit for his accomplishment in atrociousness. Don't the Brewers have a series with the Mets coming up? That will break Wigginton's slump, he'll be batting .300 after a 3 game set against the Brewers.
  8. is wes helms approaching a record for swinging at the first pitch and getting out? I think he is a thinking about changing his name to First Pitch Swinging, with a nickname of Kay?
  9. I would feel a lot better with Ginter or even Clark staying in RF. Grieve has not done anything to prove he deserves to play there everyday (or every other day). We have enough left handed bats in the line-up, and both Ginter and Clark hit righies well. I think both Ginter and Clark work the Count better as well. Some will say Grieve does, but all he does is take a couple of pitches, get two strikes on hime, and the ground out weakly or K. Clark and Ginter both spoil pitches and have better control of the K-zone.
  10. "Our* fans better give him crap, or i will be pissed i have to much pride for that @#%$ " *edit Let us not be like Philly's fans. Booing just to boo. There is a time and place, this is not one of them. Richie Sexson has been a class act. He worked his tail off for this franchise. Played every inning of every game last year for a last place team (with shotty knees). Has anyone accomplished that before? Every inning for a last place team. He brought some excitement to Brewers, and like someone mentioned before netted us 6 solid players. I ask you what would you rather have Sexson do. Say, "Hey, I don't want to be traded. Please keep me around until my contract runs out and I will promise I will sign with the Brewers for millions less than other teams offer. Then, when Prince Fielder is ready I will gladly give up my 1st Basemen's mitt and pick up an outfielder's glove." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif Give Richie Sexson the applause he deserves. It shouldn't be a minute long, but you darn well better stand up. However, you do have the right to boo him, but that is telling outsiders Milwaukee is a classless town. I would like to think differently however.
  11. Rickie is starting to get hot 4-5 tonight. Stars up 1 top of nine. Edit: Stars Win 5-4
  12. I wouldn't mind riding the bike down Saturday and meeting the people who provide me with all this great information. I was a lurker for a year, but now try to post with more regularity. Friends and family would ask me about the Brewers and the farm teams and I would just regurgitate some info from here. They thought I was a genius. So, I better go pay homage to those you really do the work. Plus the wife will be at a bead making class. Can't make the Snappers game, a little for too bike. When & Where for this coming Saturday at the Keg? I too will bring some homemade Brew down. I am pretty new, and I got a crappy batch I need to get rid of.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif On second thought might be tough carrying the cooler on the bike.
  13. Indy tied 6-6 going into the 10th. Tribe loses 6-8. Tribe gives up 2 in the Top of the 10th while giving up no hits. Hit Batsman and a JJ Hardy throwing error, among other plays, lead to the extra inning loss. Brightspot: Krynzel BB, Single, Double, and Triple. JJ, with Krynzel on, has a chance to atone for his mistake but hits one to the warning track to end the game.
  14. Just as it was last year with Rusch, I will not go to a game with Kinney as the starting pitcher (and I go to all the home games possible). It is too painful to watch. Hopefully, it won't come to this with Kinney geting stuck in the pen.
  15. They said Yost has a shorter leash this year. When is Kinney gone?
  16. 2 hits, 1 walk, and a WP help Snappers go up 2-0 after 1 For some reason I can't edit my old posts
  17. With the rainouts Beloit becomes the Minor League game of the day. Anyone know why Lou has DH'ed lately?
  18. Anyone know who is pitching Game 2 for Indy? I finally got the Audio to connect. Sounds like there won't even be a game 1 Looks like the same system that rained out Huntsville is hitting Indy. Checked Weather.com, looks like the rain is spiraling around Indy and not moving West to East which means it is going to stay awhile.
  19. "Pods looked like Sanchez" Remember Scott plays pretty shallow in Center. And Lopes/Yost had Sanchez playing basically on the warning track so nothing could get over his head. That is what pissed all the pitchers off about Sanchez, normal outs were falling in front of Sanchez.
  20. In first going into the Home Opener!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif Dare to Dream.
  21. have I have noticed something when the Brewers knock a starter out. Once again I thought the Brewers did a fine job of being patient at the plate against a starting pitcher. However, it seems everytime the Brewers knock a pitcher out pretty early they can never get to the relievers. I had this thought last year, and know in the 3rd game of the year it has popped up again. Do they not scout and game plan for the relievers as much as they do the starters? Is their goal every game just to knock the starter out and then say job well done? Do they change there approach at the plate after they have knocked the starter out? I love how they do work counts and there are not too many unproductive at bats when the starter is still in. That was the Yankees plans when they won all the WS. (Now they have just formed the NY Allstars). But the Brewers cannot seem to feast on relief pitching. Maybe its just my view after a loss and there could be some stats go either way.
  22. I assume the blackout would only be for home games. Like tonight the game is not on FSN, but it should be on the MLB Preview. Right? That wouldn't be bad, home games I could just ride the good old bike down to The Keg and get some cheap seats.
  23. I would but the wife would not have it. I can see the Brewers just about every game. The only reason I would pay $150 would be to watch my AL team, the Indians. I haven't been able to follow the Indians through their rebuilding, and I have lost some fimiliarity with the team. One thing I know for sure is I still don't like Ron Belliard's attitude.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  24. I believe that Ned came out because the Umpire was baiting Eddie into an arguement. Eddie did nothing to show up the homeplate umpire, and yet the ump took time to go "brush off the plate" while also giving Eddie a couple of words. From the bench Yost or Maddux asked Eddie where the pitch missed and Eddie shrugged his shoulders. Obviously blue took offense. I think Ned was more upset about the baiting of Eddie than anything, but than off course while he was out there he was going to voice his opinions about the balls that weren't. It was a classless more by the ump, and I am glad Ned gave him a lashing. And if it happens again I hope he will taunt him a second time, the silly kinniggett. And in anybody's book those balls should be called strikes, except when Barry is involved.
