  1. Round 16 is a GREAT name Stosh! And he is from Little House on the Prairie High School, wonder if he knows Laura Engells.

  3. Colby's favorite, Cole St. Clair from Rice was selected one pick before the Brewers selection by the Dodgers.
  4. Steve Watten from Abilene Christian, a RHP, was the Brewers seventh rounder. Looking for stuff now.
  5. The biggest mistake the MJS made was letting Drew Olson go to some internet magazine. Drew Olson was one of the top 10 beat guys in baseball. As far as Witrado goes he is a product of his own fast rise. He doesn't think he can't do no wrong. I remember when he was on the prep beat that he would have this attitude that he was some sort of prodigy (which he was). Haudicourt is good but he is definatly not a people person but he knows his baseball. You can tell he spent a lot of time with Olson. The MJS is going to hit rock bottom in the newspaper department soon before they make a comeback ala the Detroit and St. Louis papers have done. Their blog department is good but the writers and editors need to be flushed out.
  6. http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/chat/room/id/131 See you all there.
  7. Take it for what is worth. I just heard on the XM Baseball Show that the Brewers are leaning towards a guy named Ryan Perry, live armed RHP from Arizona. I can't say I know much about him other the what I have been able to find in the last minute of so.
  8. Damn you Colby...haha Shooter Hunt, I am telling you!!! No Colby it is a good draft, there are going to be a lot of picks that will screw up the draft. Posey to the Giants sounds good in theory but I know the Giants are VERY high on Sandoval and Witter at the catching position so Beckham might be the guy. Who knows. I can't wait now.
  9. On the Brewers end it is so hard to wonder just what they are going to do. Would it surprise any of you if they took 6 hs kids in their first picks? It wouldn't to me. I could see them doing the opposite also. I think depending on how Jack and Doug rate their system is how they will attack this draft. What happens here is still a question mark and we are about 2 hours until they select in round 1.
  10. Really? I guess everything I have read over the past couple days had Lawrie heading to Minnesota.
  11. I think the lefty you are talking about was Robbie Ross from Kentucky. He is the only lefty pitcher I know that was there forsure.
  12. Colby can hopefully varify. I have had numerous conversations this morning with a few contacts I have (college coaches, a couple out of state high school coaches, ect.) and they didn't have a whole lot about what the Brewers are doing other then they are really doing their homework on the high school kids this year. Those that want Josh Fields might not get that chance. Latest word is that Fields could sneak as high as the Reds at 7, Nationals at 9, or the Cardinals at 13. Even if he is there at 16 I just don't get the feeling he is even on Jack Z's board at 16 which is kinda shocking. Eric Homser, a Boras client, may be selected by the Royals at 3. It will take a lot to sign him but it is looking like he is the top guy on the Royals board, even over Posey if he is there. Fastest rising player in this draft is easily Dan Schlereth from Arizona. He is a left handed pitcher who has went from no where close to being a first rounder a few weeks ago to Houston at 10. That is a FAST RISER! The next fastest riser is Ike Davis, a OF from Arizona State. From a third round selection to possibly the New York Mets at 18 in a matter of weeks. If you have risers you have to have people who are falling. Those are as I am told are Yonder Alfanso from Miami and Casey Kelly a HS SS from Florida. The fastest rising Wisconsin product is UW-Milwaukee RHP Andy Heteberg. A few sources have told me that he has gone from 83-87 to 90-94 in a matter of months. At 6'7" that won't hurt. Another source told me that he has been instructed not to play or throw by a team interested in drafting him because of the number of innings pitched in the past month.
  13. I am having a hard time figuring out who I should be upset at in this whole ordeal. I can't blame Bill Hall for being upset because he has a right to be in many rights. He has taken many bullets on Doug Melvin and Ned Yost's whims and didn't complain one bit. He also has a point when pointing out that he wasn't the only person in the opening day 8 that have and are still struggling. The fact of the matter is that the hot streak that Russell Branyon was on couldn't be ignored. That is why I can't blame managment either. What do you do? You have another option that is just playing out of his head and you have to worry about winning...expecially when Ned Yost and possibly Doug Melvin is making moves to save a job. The classy thing to do is sit down with Billy Hall and find out if he is just frustrated or really wants out. If he really wants out, I think Doug Melvin owes it to him to deal him for all the bullets Hall has taken for the organization. But this is a business and cut-throat at that and Bill Hall likely isn't going anywhere.
  14. The Miller Park day(s) are basically some of the middle to later round picks. I can't remember if the top tier'd players come into town or not. So I am sure the past 2 or 3 days any college kid (from Wisconsin)with a chance of getting a look was in town. I am sure there as a fair share of UWM kids down there, as well as some of the higher rated Division 3 kids. I will try to make a few phone calls and see if I can't get some of the state kids who were there.
  15. Mark me down as somebody who isn't interested in Connecticut at all. It has nothing to do with the facility or the people there but it is a place where it is just not a good place to develop talent. I have talked to a few people associated over the past couple years in the San Francisco Giants organization who have said they don't send their top prospects to Connecticut because of the weather. These same people said that the people in this area are strong Yankees fans who used to support the team when they were a farm club of the Yankees but as soon as they left the interest in the Defenders has dropped with it. Just don't underestimate the weather as a factor in this decision. The Giants have skipped their top talent for the past couple seasons from going to Connecticut. They have either prematurely advanced their prospects to Fresno or kept kids in San Jose to keep them from the harsh Atlantic winds and weather. Just look at the Giants this season, regardless of your thoughts on their system, Manny Burriss, Brian Bocock, Henry Sosa, Ryan Rohlinger, Pablo Sandavol are all either to high or to low but are being held out of Connecticut. The players you see going to Connecticut are guys who have started to flame out as prospects or overachievers. You could argue the only real prospects at Connecticut is Brad Boyer and Osiris Matos. I think that there are a lot of factors that go into picking site hopefully the Brewers organization does their homework just like I would hope they would do before making a decision about signing a new lease for a spring training location.
  16. I have read the many topics regarding Prince Fielder and his value. Tonight after the game ESPN 540 had on one of the insiders from ESPN, it wasn't Gammons but it was one of those guys, but anyways I believe it was Matt Salmon who asked if the Brewers were to trade a player like Fielder what could the Brewers get. The guy's answer was 6 players (a 2nd SP material, a 5th SP material, a left handed bat, and a closer and 2 high level prospects) MINIMUM for Prince Fielder and no team is willing to give all that up in the middle of the season and it is unlikely to happen in the offseason. The guy did say though that the Brewers continue to slide look for the bullpen to be unloaded by the deadline. Big ante for Fielder.
  17. When your information is totally called "ficticious" by the most known and connected Brewers beat writer and denied bluntly by the Brewers General Manager himself I feel like they are challanging my creditablility which I take as serious as anything. I understand the sensitive nature of the topic as there are many pro-Arizona, pro-Florida people in this topic already. I just what motivation I would have to make this up. Show's the power of brewersfan.net I guess that a "rumor" that "I" started would be denied so bluntly and called ficticious by Mr. Haudricourt and Mr. Melvin. I stick by the story...if that means anything since Doug Melvin himself said it wasn't true.
  18. The fact that this made local television and the MJS is a shock to me. For them to flat out bring up Auburndale and Sarasota is proof that they read other papers and possibly this board. I really respect Tom Haudicourt, and I think he is one of the better beat writers around. It frustrates me to believe that he would call everything numerous outlets reported as "fictitous." I am excited that Doug Melvin has atleast given the stance on the issue, and I give the MJS props for approaching the story. If this story, rumor, or myself are proven to be lying or making this up then I will come here for my public crucification and then I will go away for good.
  19. Excellent question Team Canada, and one I am attempting to get an answer from. I have forwarded the article to my friend to get a response from him. I think I know what his answer will be but I will wait until. The question I want answered is if the Brewers have had "no" contact with anybody in Florida, what is the motivation of my friend, the Sarasota papers who have quoted stadium and government officials saying they have talked to Brewers officials, and ballpark digest to make this up? I will take Doug Melvin's word though, because he flat out said no, but I do so with the same grain of salt as Brett Favre retiring. If they truly decide to stay in Arizona great...if not great also.
  20. Melvin shoots down Florida rumors Doug Melvin shoots down the rumors to Tom Haudicourt. There is an out in 2010 though. (edit: URL repair --1992)
  21. haha, you know what Dr. Wood that is a very good statement. I am thinking Bobby Bowden has already talked to him about doing both.
  22. That is basically the same response I have gotten from Haudicourt since I first heard of all this. I genuinely think that Haudicourt is good writer and I find him genuinely entertaining on the radio but I don't think he is even a little remotely interested in going deep into this. We have had several sources that have referenced the Brewers in moving from the Sarasota paper, the Tampa Tribune, ballpark digest, to people in the Sarasota government, to my friend in the state government. While it isn't popular to a lot of people the probablility of them moving is much higher then what it should be where Haudicourt shouldn't discount it or even dismiss it without looking into it more. Tom Haudicourt for better or for worse is pretty much the only person inside the scenes that can find out what is happening here. To have one person say there is nothing to multiple people say there is something...believe what you want but I will go to my grave believing that this story is fake.
  23. hyperextended elbow for Riske, gonna be re-evaluated tomorrow by Dr. Rauch according to Uecker. Doesn't sound good. I am guessing Pena gets the call?
  24. I think my order of preference is Auburndale, Sarasota, Vero Beach, Bonita Springs/Ft Myers. I wonder now what people think now that it has been confirmed the Brewers have atleast a thought of moving. If by reading this entire 9 pages if anybody has had a change of heart about moving or atleast wouldn't go crazy if they did. Would it make a difference if they would move, other then being on ESPN a few more times in the spring.
