  1. Barnwell and now Kremblas in the OF? Why not Gemoll? He's the one guy with experience out there.
  2. Yikes. Looks like a so-so start for Adams, but a total meltdown by Childers EDIT: by MassBrew for Game Summary and updated box score; thanks for the initial overnight box, bork! 4. I figured Lee was a stretch, but my second though was Paz. He's older, been in AA a while, and can at least draw some walks for Indy.
  5. Hmmm, an opening in AAA and an extra player in AA. Could a promotion be forthcoming?
  6. Didn't Burba pitch on 3 days rest? It's amazing he lasted for 98 pitches. Not a bad start. Let's see what he can do on a normal 4 days rest.
  7. I didn't think PHIL had turf anymore. In 2001, they replaced their Astroturf with NexTurf (whatever that is) Found the info on www.ballparks.com
  8. If Ford goes 4-6 innings today, does he start on Saturday, too? He's just getting stretched out and it would only be 4 days. I want to see him start, but not if it gets him hurt.
  9. Nice "veteran" middle infield. The offense would be decent if they were even close to average. Assuming (and hoping) EY and Clayton are gone next year, who plays there? Ginter gets a shot at 2B, but what about SS? Hardy will probably spend most of the year in AAA, so do you sign someone for a year? Do you sign someone for a couple years and move him to 2B when Hardy is ready? Will Hall get a shot if he continues to have a strong second half?
  10. Thank for the clarification. With Belcher's struggles in the OF and if he can no longer catch, does he have a position any more? I notice he's been used almost exclusively as a DH lately.
  11. With Gwynn heading to Beloit, what's to become of Steve Moss? Will he be promoted or shifted? I've got to believe that Moss and Gwynn will both be playing side by side in Beloit. Move one of them over, Beloit can sure use the bats. Will Carter finally get sent down now? With Opdyke in AZ, that makes 5 catchers in AZ, 5 in Helen, 3 in Beloit, 4 in High Desert. Hopefully the Brewers can find at least 1 future catcher from that group.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  12. Could it be?!?! Cruz actually getting a start and at 2B? He could actually get 5 or 6 starts this year at that that rate!
  13. It will be interesting to see the draft strategy next year. No pitchers drafted in the first 5 rounds this year seemed to be safer considering past history. Looking at drafts 1998-2002, Sheets and Jones are the only pitchers taken in rounds 1-5 who haven't either been injured or busts.
  14. The roster on this site says 27 players, but there are 28 listed. That is with Mazone removed. 12 position players and 13 pitchers, 3 on the DL.
  15. What is the roster limit for A ball? HD is still at 25. No moves were made when Petty and Marx were signed, so could Mazone's release be related to that?
  16. Seems Clark's playing time has dwindled since signing Varner. Clark and Varner should be playing every day, but Knox continues to play at their expense. Hope this changes soon.
  17. Does anyone know if Raburn played barehanded on Tuesday?? Just when it seemed his defense had improved, he pulls an EY and doubles his error total.
  18. So now Indy and Hunstville both have an empty roster spot and both need a starter. And news on replacements or are they waiting on some possible trades?
  19. If there is one positive with regards to BBs it's the Beloit pitching staff. While a few guys have given up a lot of walks (Carpenter, Sarfate, Pena), Beloit pitchers have some of the best BB totals in the system. Look at walks/9 innings Parra 1.6 Wilhelmson 2.89 Bo Hall 2.14 Breslow 1.98 Housman 2.67 At the upper levels the only ones to stand out are Dan Hall (2.45) and Sheets (1.9http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif . Hopefully, this is a sign that they are stressing it with the new guys and that the trend will work its way up the chain.
  20. A quick note on DJ Clark. He hit some balls well. One would have been a homer in High Desert, but he's learning how the ball won't carry like it did before.
  21. JJ Hardy gets his first start in a while. Gets a rocket single in his first at bat. Gripp gets the start at 3rd, commits an error in the 2nd. Next batter misses a home run by inches. Haren and Liriano are mowing down the hitters. Haren with 7 Ks. Still scoreless after 3. Lost audio for a bit. Hardy replaced by Barnwell defensively in the 5th. Stars load the bases in the 5th with 1 out, but Knox strikes out for the 3rd time and Krynzel gets an out. Haren with 9 Ks. Liriano replaced after 5 scoreless innings, with 4 Ks. Scoreless after 5. Smokies get on the board in the 7th. 1st & 2nd no one out. Lee makes good play on bunt to get lead runner. Runners to 1st and 3rd on fielder's choice. Double down the line scores a run, but he kept running and they end up with 2 men on 3rd. Gets the Stars out of the inning. 1-0 Smokies. Interesting end to the top of the 9th. Adams puts runners at the corners with 1 out. Batter stikes out. Kremblas late on the thow to 2nd, but Paz fires back home to get the double play. Haren dominated the stars with 11 Ks in 7 innings. Yes it was a depressing game to listen too. The most interesting part was the commercials. The mic never went off so you could year the banter between the announcer and whoever the woman was recording key plays for the game.
  22. Good to see High Desert and Indy starting to play better. Now the Brewer's minor league teams are only 3 games below .500. Quite an improvement from last year's 54 games below .500.
  23. Interesting note about Hart's footwork and defense. It seems like has hasn't had an error in at least a week. And with his bat coming around, hopefully, it's a sign that he's starting to feel comfortable at third.
  24. Could any of the High Desert pitchers be called up to Indy? Aren't some of them older with some past AAA experience?
