  1. Why does Scotty keep hitting the ball in the air? It seems like he is trying to drive the ball to the gap every time up rather than shoot the ball the other way.
  2. Barring injury (knock on wood!), Hendrickson will definitely be in the starting rotation on opening day 2005. My prediction is that he will get called up in June and be in the rotation for good thereafter. If you've got the talent in the minors, why wait 'til 6/05 to bring the guy up??? You can only be so patient.
  3. 3-0 Expos? We got 'em right where we want 'em!
  4. Brewers are 0-3 in games where they are going for the sweep. Isn't it great that it isn't even the middle of may and the Brewers already have their fourth chance for a sweep! Big game today to get the record two games over .500. A sweep and an 18-16 record ought to attract some fan attention for the very winnable weekend series vs. the Braves. Also, just wanted to say that for being the "worst" team in baseball, Montreal sure is tough. I can't remember I've seen a bad team with as good of pitching as they have.
  5. Given the state of the Expos organization, is there any chance the Brewers could persue a trade with them for pitching? I'm sure every team in baseball would like to steal from Montreal, so I doubt it would happen, but given our deep farm system I would love to get Zach Day.
  6. This is rediculous. I don't care about a short bullpen or what anyone else has to say about that. The fact of the matter is, Obie was DONE last inning. We've seen it before, he reaches a point where he loses everything and is just flat out inneffective. I remember when we lost to Arizona in the 15 inning game...the Brewers were up 4 or 5 and Obie was clearly losing it, yet Ned left him in and he ended up leaving in a tie game. You have to take a pitcher out when he is out of gas or you are going to lose the game. End of story. I'm not saying this is an excuse, or even the reason, but I have to imagine our guys lost focus after seeing Obie out there again and pinch hitting with the bases loaded. F#$K THIS PI$$E$ ME OFF. Ok, I'm done....good night.
  7. Great, just great. Two errors lead to a run and the bases are still loaded with no one out. Maybe our guys are too distracted to make a play because they are still trying to figure out WHAT THE HELL YOST WAS THINKING!!!!
  8. ****THIS JUST IN**** You will not see a DUMBER move by a manager this year than what Yost just did. My God, everyone and their cousin knew that Obie was out of gas and with the f#$@ing bases loaded how could you not pinch hit for him?!?! I would have bet anything that Obie would not have made it through the next inning and guess what, he doesn't retire a guy. WHAT THE HELL WAS NED THINKING?!?! THAT WAS A NO BRAINER. If we lose this one, it's definitely on Yost.
  9. I don't think anyone thinks Santos should be the number two starter, but what is wrong with getting excited with a great start by the guy. I'm not saying the guy is going to be good or even average, but I'm saying he pitched well enough tonight to deserve another start, just like Saenz did a few weeks ago. Sheesh, I swear any time anything good happens to this team there are a bunch of posts like "even though we hit four home runs, came back from a ten run deficit, and pitched a no hitter, I don't want to see anyone optimistic posts around here because we still suck." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  10. 5 K's for Santos through 4. Nice start so far, let's see if he can keep it up. My question for some of you on the board...what is so bad about young guys pitching well? I mean, whats the worst that could happen, they stay in the starting rotation and take the place of Kinney and Obie. Those are two guys I wouldn't mind seeing bumped (Davis isn't too far behind). It's not like guys like Saenz and Santos are top prospects that could get burned out and hurt our farm system. Wouldn't a rotation of Sheets, Capuano, Saenz, Hendrickson, Santos/Davis look a hell of a lot better than what we currently have? Not to metion I wouldn't mind having Kinney and Obie out of the pen.
  11. I'll admit I don't know a lot about minor league ball, but is there any chance Fielder will be promoted to AAA in the next couple of months. I know he is very young, but if the guy is killing AA pitching, why not?
  12. Not sure if this has been talked about or not, but is Spivey hurt? I was at the game on Sunday sitting on the first base line and late in the game when he was on first he kept grabbing his right hamstring. Just wondering if this is why he is not in the lineup or not.
  13. Some notes: -Great job by Scotty to come through when we desperately needed it. -Ginter better be in the lineup tomorrow. -Ford and Hernandez really suck out of the pen. -What is with Jeff Bennet? Would have like to seen him close out the game. -Luis looks like one of the best relievers in the game so far. (Although I'm sure I just jinxed him). -Scoring 8 runs in an inning is fun. -Given that we pull this one out....get the SWEEP!
  14. I have no idea why Gonzalez doesn't just have his season ending surgery and be done with it. He is going to end up costing his team a lot of runs with his gimpy arm and I have to think that it will affect his bat sooner or later. BTW, did anyone else notice Uecker call Ben Grieve "Ben Sheets" about three times during the broadcast? Somehow Sheets made a pitch that was hit off the wall in right to get thrown in to second by Ben Sheets. He must have been bustin' his ass to get out to right. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  15. The next two weeks are definitely crucial to the Brewers' chances of making a run a the .500 mark. They currently sit in the same position they do every year, on the brink of tanking or making something of the season...the question is, what will it be this year? Tuesday's game is HUGE for several reasons. For one, they are already two games under .500 and don't want to fall any lower than that. Secondly, the pitching matchup is in favor of the Brewers whereas the next couple of games it won't be. Third, I think most casual fans are waiting for the Brewers to go on one of their patented losing streaks. A bad homestand will not only kill their record, but will kill A LOT of what little fan interest there already is. The Brewers have weathered the storm against the contenders and now have a legitimate chance to improve their record in a big way over the course of the next few weeks and it all starts with tomorrow's game. Gotta get off to a good start.
  16. Well the first injury of the season belongs to Capuano. I sure hope it isn't serious, but it looks like it is something that will land him on the 15-day DL. Why Cap? Why not Kinney?
  17. Is there anything that pisses you off more than serving up a home run to the guy hitting in the 8 hole, with no one on base, and a below-average hitting pitcher on deck?!?! The way Clemons is pitching it looks like that will be the game winner.
  18. I thought the same thing too, AJAY. We've really screwed up Bennett's development. LOL. Way to get your head out of your rear, Ned.
  19. That is correct, Cooper will be pitching for the Giants. Anyone know anything about him? Is he worse than Franklin (hopefully!)?
  20. Two appearances for Ben Ford and I'm ready to send him to AAA. Kieschnick wasn't much better. So much for that good feeling I had about the Brewers. Games like today bring me right back to reality. Gotta win tomorrow.
  21. Exactly my thinking as well...it is nice to see almost every ball that is being hit is a rocket. Sort of makes me wonder if our offense is actually good or if the Cards pitching is that bad? I'm hoping we're that good! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
  22. This is a big game for the Crew if they want to avoid a bad start. Today's pitching matchup seems pretty even, while the next two (especially tomorrow) heavily favor the Cards.
  23. Sheets had Rolen picked off, but threw the ball into right field. Rolen went to third on the play. Sheets then hangs a 2-strike curveball to the number eight hitter (who knocks in Rolen) rather than getting to the pitcher. Same ole, same ole. Sheets with approx. 45 pitches...ouch. Brewers now with first and third, nobody out as Moeller walks, Sheets bunts, and Pujols throws the ball into right trying to get the runner at second. Podsednik now hits a double play ball second but Renteria boots the ball. Everybody safe. Runners at second and third.
