  1. The Brewers are playing for a shot at second place today. A Brewer win and a Cub loss means the Brewers would be alone in second place at the All-Star break. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to look at those standings for the next four days!!! That being said, I expect a semi-high scoring game today. For whatever reason, Santos doesn't pitch as well during the day, and the Reds can hit a little bit. My heart says Brewers win 7-5 but my head says Reds win 7-4.
  2. Maybe if Jenkins wasn't working that big freakin' piece of tobacco every time he's at the plate, he could concentrate on laying off of the junk in the dirt. Does that guy look lost or what? Jenkins is about as to strike out as Dunn. Once he gets to two strikes its over. Just throw someing low and inside or a slider away and he'll swing every time. EVERY TIME.
  3. I'm having flashbacks to a 4 game series that occurred about one week ago. What the hell is the matter with these guys??? They played excellent, playoff caliber type baseball against the Cubs and now back to looking like they're in Pittsburgh again. Come on guys, get it going!!!
  4. What about moving Grieve up in the order to either the second or third spot. He's shown that he can get on base plenty, but he's definitely not a guy I want up when there are runners on base. Taking a walk and passing the torch to Ginter is not working. Ginter can't be counted on to drive in runs in a clutch situation any more than Moeller. What about going with: Pods Counsell Grieve Jenkins Overbay Helms Ginter/Hall Catcher Pitcher Or flip/flop Grieve into the two hole when Hall plays and put him third.
  5. Stop swinging at pitches in the dirt!!!
  6. Yes, this is a must win. If they lose today, that means they have to beat either Prior or Zambrano to stop what could be a 7 game losing streak. Today's game might be the biggest of the year.
  7. Well the week ahead now becomes by far the biggest week of the year. After today the Brewers will still be 3 games above .500, much better than anyone had hoped for at this point. The key is how the team will respond against the Cubs and Reds. I guess we'll see how much the guys listen to Ned's "don't panic" speech.
  8. 2 hits, 2 runs for Pittsburgh. Only in that hell-hole of a town would the Brewers be losing 2-1 while giving up only two hits.
  9. Why oh why can't we pinch hit for our catchers??? Who cares if there won't be another reserve when they ultimately help in ending the game!!!
  10. It doesn't matter if the Brewers started Cy Young against these guys. If you can't score any runs and you just can't seem to get anything right against these b@stards from Pittsburgh its all a moot point.
  11. Not that it matters, but if a fan reaches over and touches the ball isn't that interference? This just keeps getting better and better. The Brewers haven't been "blown out" in weeks and now they get killed twice in one day.
  12. This sucks. Just thought I'd join in the fun seeing as I was one of many fans thrilled to have two games on tonight and now I'm having the patented "Brewer-fan" anxiety that the team is now going to fall apart.
  13. If I had a nickel for every time a Brewer batter didn't get the job done with men in scoring position then comes up next time and gets a hit I'd have enough money to buy the team. Seriously, watch how often this happens.
  14. I don't really have a whole lot to add but I have to vent about the offense. This is getting ridiculous!!! 3 runs seems to be the ceiling for this team and I hate wasting yet another quality pitching performance by a Brewer starter. Of course you know they'll score seven tomorrow....that is after Obey gives up 8. I hate losing winnable games with the difficult schedule coming up. If the Brewers want to stay above .500, they have to take advantage of games that are there for the taking because there are bound to be games against the better teams where talent wins out and they get blown out. Side note: The Tigers had 27 hits yesterday...I get giddy just thinking about more than one in an inning for our beloved, can't hit the water if they fell out of a boat, Brewers.
  15. I think it will be interesting to see how the Brewers' pitching does against the Padres. This is the first series in a long time where the opposing team sports a very good hitting lineup. If the Brewers can continue their excellent streak of good pitching throughout this series, I will start to think that maybe its not a fluke and maybe Maddux has actually gotten through to them. I predict, however, that the Brewers will need to score more than 3 runs to win any of this weekend's games.
  16. Brewers now 0-7 in games where they are shooting for 3 over .500. That doesn't bode well for Thursday if they win tomorrow, but given the way the season has gone they'll most likely lose tomorrow and win Thursday. If I were a betting man, I'd bet the farm on the opposing team the next time we are 2 over. (Hopefully there will be a next time).
  17. Now divide that by 10. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  18. You can chalk this one up as one of the most frustrating games of the year. I always get a little more excited about the games where the Brewers have a chance to get to three games over .500 and every freakin' time they lose!!! Some notes: -As posted earlier, Trent Durrington is about as useful as Enrique Cruz was last year. -Gary Bennet flat out blows. He can't hit and his defense sucks too. -Brady Clark can't hit for anything, but it does seem like he gets to some balls in the outfield that Grieve wouldn't be able to. -Jenkins MUST sit the next time the Brewers face a lefty...and it wouldn't be a bad idea to give Scotty Po a day off too (I'm sick to death of his fly balls to left/center on 3-1 pitches). -It sucks to have one bad inning ruin an otherwise well-pitched game...where are the clutch hits? Ok, well it's gonna be Gagne time in about a minute...anyone willing to predict his streak will end???
  19. How the hell is Trent Durrington in the majors?! Please, someone tell me.
  20. The angry emoticon is back after Craig Wilson's HR. I hate that guy. I hate the Pirates. Why can't we beat these guys?!?! Someone tell me how the Pirates are under .500. Their pitching seems to be pretty respectable and more than half their lineup is hitting over .300! PS- It sure would be nice if someone other than Overbay could drive in some runs (*clearing throat* Geoff Jenkins).
  21. I hear ya, AJAY. With Sheets going tonight, I was really looking forward to watching a game the Brewers should win. How many rainouts does Pittsburgh get a year? It seems like they average at least one a month.
  22. I'm also wondering where the HR's are for Jenkins. This team is sorely missing some power in the middle of the lineup. A home run every now and then would really help things considering the amount of close games the Brewers seem to play. If I'm not mistake, I think the Brewers have had two or three home runs over the course of the last 10 games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  23. Nice job by Clark to come through with a clutch hit....anyone know how badly Jenkins was out?
