Manny wasn't looking for a large contract. He is already earning $10 million in deferred payements from the Dodgers and Red Sox. I also read that half of Vlad's contract with the Orioles non-guaranteed and potentially deferred. The Orioles are probably the most improved team in baseball.

I really love this trade. Even if we don't sign Greinke long term we can get a nice haul of prospects back for him. Between him and Fielder we should be able to replenish the system if this doesn't work out well.

I would hate to see them give up on him already as he is only 24 years old. He defense is excellent. Maybe his bat will come around. I would be disappointed if he wasn't with the Brewers next season.

I would like to see Dunn, Braun & Branyan in the middle of our lineup. I don't see any way of getting rid of Suppan, with his contract. Maybe Fielder & Soup to Toronto for Halladay?

Brewers don't take option for Cameron or Gagne. Brewers Trade Prince Fielder for SF Matt Cain. Brewers sign Adam Dunn. 1B - Branyan 2B - Weeks SS - Hardy 3B - Hall LF - Braun CF - Hart RF - Dunn C - Kendall Cain, Yo, Parra, Suppan & Bush round out rotation.

Geez, you would think that Weeks just lost us the NLCS with that play according to many on this board. It was bad but this game isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

It's too early in the season for me to point this out but I guess I will anyways... It seems like an early strategy is to run a little more this year. We have attempted 8 steals in 5 games, which is an average of 1.6 per. Last season we only attempted 128 steals or .79 per game. So maybe Yost wants the boys to be more aggressive on the paths.

I like when players show their emotion in a positive way as Braun does. As long as he isn't trying to 'show up' the other team then I am glad to see it. Heck, sometimes you get the feeling while watching the games that relief pitchers are the only players with emotions.

Are baseball fans being naive about steroids? Why do we fans simply overlook other eras where it appears that illegal substance was used to increase player performance?[ There is a naiveness as to when steroids became popular through out professional sports. In 1954, the Soviets dominated the World Weightlfiting Championships. Their team physician admitted to administering steroids to the team. By 1972 there were full-scale drug-testing in the Olympics but it wasn't until the late 1980's/early 1990's that testing became reliable. We all know that the NFL players were taking steroids in the 70's like it was candy. So why couldn't steroid have crossed from sport to sport? Well it did. Tom House, who pitched from 1971 to 1978, admitted to using steroids. As a matter of fact his comment about it is ""I actually think that the game is cleaner today than when I was playing.'' ..."Every generation of players -- the '20s, '30s, '40s on up -- everybody was looking for a way to get the most out of their bodies, and they took whatever they possibly could. It was almost expected. . . " There was a greater number of players to join the 500 home run club in the 60's and 70's then today. Could it be that increased reliability in steroid testing in the late 80's has creating a false general assumption that the - 90's to present - is the steroid era? In addiiton, Look at the top career homeruns hitters: Hank Aaron had his best HR season at age 37. Barry Bonds had his best HR season at age 36. Babe Ruth had his best HR season at age 32. Willie Mays had his best HR season at 34. It doesn't appear that Bonds surge in power is out of the norm with other greats. Any thoughts?????

A-Rod had 241 home runs when he was 25. Prince will not even be close to that many when he is 25. Cabrera is too far behind A-Rod at this stage of his Career. I think Cabrera has about 120 Hr's and he is 24.

D-Honks, At least Berkman has a history of being a good hitter and the chances of him ending up with at least .280 a average are about 99%. With Counsell, he is right around his average...and Spivey, well, who knows....but they look as good as Royce did at the plate!!!

I am surprised...I wasn't expecting Counsell and Spivey to be as bad as they are. I thought they would be at least respectable. They are automatic outs. What are these guys...a combined 5-40?

Clancy - I know you were calling for a brush back pitch but I think the pitch that hit Ginter was unintentional. And by the pissed off look of LaRussa, I am sure he didn't call for it. I don't like LaRussa as a manager but I do know that his reputation across the MLB is that he doesn't tolerate that from his pitchers. As for the brewers being 3-1.....YAHOOOOOO!!!! This weekends matchup against Houston should be interesting since we are not facing the potential weekend rotation of Oswalt, Pettite & Clemens.
