  1. So far the pitching has been pretty good. Our bullpen has really surprised me. We haven't been blown out at all, and only one pitcher has really stymied us (Zambrano). I hope this trend continues...and Lee and Jenkins get their homerun strokes going!
  2. Eveland has retired 10 in a row. They are both pitching well...good thing we got our runs early. Both bullpens are busy though, so I wouldn't expect Eveland or Billingsly to last much longer. Edit: Billingsly done after 5
  3. That was an incredible game (Nashville). They just kept getting hits, mostly singles, and a couple of timely errors. The Huntsville game was incredible too, but for a different reason. How many outs did they need to record in that 9th inning? You just can't give them THAT many chances and expect them not to take one at some point!
  4. The Huntsville Stars, and particularily Vinny Rottino, are getting killed by wild pitches. Twice Jerome Gamble had a guy struck out, but the batter advanced to first on a wild pitch. I wonder how wild they were? Or, is Vinny just that raw at catcher right now?
  5. Wow, a dead on prediction...but why didn't you predict the double?
  6. I wouldn't mind drafting Weaver since we don't have a 2nd round pick. I don't remember what he was asking though, and I am afraid that it would be too much. So, I think I would like to see us pick up a guy like Romero or Greene, and then target a guy who has "fallen" with our third rounder.
  7. Cubs getting it done with infield chops...unbelievable.
  8. Helms is doing his best to earn the starting job back...a three pitch strike out and a GIDP. Amazing.
  9. Wow, I went to the WV Power site and took a look at the stadium webcam, and it actually looks like a Baseball diamond...not just a buch of mudd or brown grass like it did earlier. Looks like it will be ready by opening day...or at least the field will be. 63.126.209.45/
  10. Well, I am in now too. I really had no idea about the costs per view...and I view a LOT! I typically don't post unless I have something semi-intelligent to say (which obviously isn't often!). AHope this helps a little.
  11. I say trade them both and let Nelson/Hart platoon in Right http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Of course, judging by their Spring thus far (and I know it means absolutely nothing), that might not be the best idea.
  12. I completely agree with you Mr. 8 ball http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Festa's stats seems to be inflated because of the league, and his maturity (age) within the league. I am curious to see how he does in Beloit. Regardless, I feel that Heether is ready to move on to A+. Lets face it though, neither one is really considered a prospect at this time. Heether has shown some impressive power numbers, but strikes out way too much (Branyan). I think I remember reading that his defense was solid (anyone?), so he may have a future...but only because we don't have anyone else.
  13. Interesting...I didn't expect Salome or Irribarren to be there for different reasons. I half expected Rogers and Fermaint to be there, even though I would have liked them to be brought along a bit slower. Escobar, Rasheed, and Mannon were no-brainers. Still, it is nice to see a bit of a preview!
  14. Interesting...0 walks, but only 2 strikeouts in 9 innings. Is he an extreme groundball pitcher? Now I am curious, I will have to take a look at his stats from last year. I have never really looked at him as a legitimate prospect...maybe I will have to follow him a bit more closely this year.
  15. I couldn't agree more...if teams want to covet our middle relievers I will fleece them all day. While a bullpen is important, bullpen arms can be found much easier than power hitting outfielders. Hopefully this guy can show the same sort of thing in Milwaukee this year...
  16. That is great news about Mega Thomas...I hope to see a few box scores with his name in them next year. Maybe it is time for me to pick the player I will have an irrational man-crush on...
  17. I too find it odd that Woolard wasn't included...not sure what they are thinking. There is a pretty good chance that Pena would have flew under the radar...especially if they tucked him away at AAA. Anyway, I also find the make-up of the 40-man roster interesting. We have all of the starters roles filled (not saying these will be the starters, just that the spots are filled) 1B Overbay 2B Spivey SS Hall 3B Branyan LF Jenkins CF Pods RF Clark C Moeller SP Sheets SP Davis SP Santos SP Capuano SP Hendrickson BP Kolb BP Adams BP Vizcaino BP Wise BP Obermueller BP Liriano BP Kieschnick BP Bennett But we don't have all of the back-ups filled BU C None on roster 4th OF Magruder 5th OF None on roster MIN Ginter 3B/1B Helms Then we have the kids who most of us don't expect to be with the team Rickie Weeks Jorge De La Rosa Andy Pratt Corey Hart Dave Krynzel Chris Saenz Dennis Sarfate Jones, Mike Hardy, J.J. Nelson, Brad Derek Turnbow Ben Diggins Sam Narron Jeff Housman Gary Glover Pena, Luis Right now we can't sign any free agents without removing someone from the 40-man...so don't expect any signings in the near future. Also, we will not be picking any rule-5 guys...again, no room on the roster. Someone currently on the roster will be moving off of it so that we can have a back-up catcher. Who? I am sure we are not that attached to Magruder...but then who will man the OF spots. Does this mean that Krynzel or Hart are expected to be the 5th OF? Does this mean that JJ will slide into the middle infield spot? It will be very interesting to see what happens. I am expecting a trade or two in the near future...something to open up a couple of 40-man roster spots.
  18. I can't disagree with that...but what other positions can he play? He has no trade value, and first base is taken. outfielder in A+ or AA? Might not be a bad idea if he is athletic enough...lots of power int he bat if he can learn to make relatively consistent contact... I still predict he is cut after ST unless he shows marked improvement. Just curious...where do you have Salome? Helena, or Charleston?
  19. I would agree with you...Kade Johnson has definitely not been the answer at catcher (hence the question mark after his name), and Joel Alvarado isn't exactly a stud himself. I do see Kade in AAA (or released) however because Palmisano and Vandenberg (and Rottino at catcher?) will probably be in AA. Kade either steps up, or gets the boot in my opinion. I expect to see Mark in Milwaukee because the club is familiar with him, Hendrickson is familiar with him, and there isn't a whole lot out there at catcher. I would love to trade for one of the young guys that have been mentioned here lately...I am just not optimistic about it.
  20. Kade Johnson? I expect Mark to be in Milwaukee, unless a trade is made.
  21. I really like the new format...great job!
  22. That isn't quite fair end...JDLR was pitching very well at the time he was called up (and no I don't have numbers for you). I didn't like how they treated Hendrickson though...let him work out of the bullpen for a few games to get his feet wet...let him watch the way the other big league pitchers prepare and pitch...just let him be around the game. I think he would have learned a lot more doing that than he did going back to Indy and doing the same old same old.
  23. Good luck CRicks...hope you get #700! I, however, will be sitting through a fascinating class on educational philosophyhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif ...I hate night classes...most are pointless, and they make me miss Brewers games two nigths a week. But, if I want to get my masters I have to sit through them right? Go Crew!
