  1. Ankiel may not be cheaper, but he adds a power lefty to our lineup... if the market is at all like last year, where he's still on the market late, I would not mind taking a 6-8-million dollar per year 1-2 year flyer on guy like Ankiel. On the hand, I also like that Crisp is switch hitter with some speed...
  2. I'd do the 3-million. Even if they are out of it, maybe Davis will help save some young arms extra wear. If he saves the pen some, then perhaps Gallardo can be limited to only 5-innings per start, or skipped in September once or twice if they are out it. 3-million to protect Gallardo is worth it.

  8. Haudicort also believes that the Brewers are a good guess per Twitter.
  9. Per MLB Trade rumors, Doug Davis was claimed on waivers. They speculate it was the Brewers, but not confirmation. Source is Jon Heyman. EDIT: Heyman's sources now confirm it was the Brewers who claimed Davis. No word on what the d-Backs will do.

  15. I know I'm in the minority, but I wish TGJ was still on our team. A left handed bat who can play CF... We've got enough power on this team to get away with a few slap hitters.
  16. Yes, just barely. On life support. The next two weeks will tell the tale. They got to go on one of those 8-2 type runs real soon to really be in it.
  17. It was also sad to watch him get annihilated in that joke of a stadium. While he got shelled, to be fair about 5 of those runs resulted from pop-outs in most other stadiums. That Johnny Damon shot was about as cheap a homer as I've ever seen.
  18. I like Bailey. But I would not move Hardy at the moment, I think he'll have more value in the off-season. But for a pitcher like Bailey I would consider it. I would definitely do the second deal you propose, especially if Solome is the one we trade.
  19. This is the only trade option I'm interested in. A young pitcher with solid 3 plus stuff. He would benefit I think in moving to National League. I'm glad Washburn is off the market. I've been in the sell or stay put camp, but this is one guy I would try to buy if the price is right.
  20. Count me in the minority, but I don't like the job Castro has done. I know he was not given the greatest tools, but I've got to agree that aside from Gallardo (which should have been expected coming off an injury season), most of the starters we have had are pitching below expectations. I'm hoping that we can find a way to get Dave Duncan here next year. He's clearly unhappy with the Cards after they traded his son away. There contracts are expiring. I know he's loyal to LaRussa, but you never know given what has happened.
