  1. The only true "obstructed view" seats at MP are the Uecker seats. Heck, I had season tickets in section 424 about five years ago that are now considered obstructed view because the hand railing four rows down cuts off part of third base if you're leaning forward.
  2. I think if we've learned anything over the past few years it's that if you have elite pitching you will contend no matter what your lineup looks like. We've now upgraded to one of the best rotations in the NL WITHOUT sacrificing anything of major value in the lineup. I've always been for trading young, unproven players since 90% don't pan out in the long run anyways (although I think Cain will be a solid player for the Royals).
  3. As someone stated earlier in this thread, it's really hard to find anything to look forward to with respect to this team. The bottom line is we have zero pitching outside of Gallardo and unfortunately there is no way to rectify that situation. We have nothing in the minors that resembles solid major league pitching and there is no way to put together three fifths of a rotation through free agency. Trading Fielder is a crapshoot. If the Sabathia trade taught me anything it's that there is certainly no guarantee with "can't miss" prospects (like Matt LaPorta). I don't think we've ever traded anyone (in the last 15 years) for a prospect the ended up being an above average player. Fielder is a great player having an off year...but good power hitting first baseman are pretty common so I don't think anyone is going to give us a top-notch pitching prospect for him. The worst thing about the Brewers situation is that the people on this board looking for reasons to watch this team are the die-hard fans. If you're a die-hard fan that is looking for any reason to get excited about Brewers baseball, what is the casual fan thinking? I fear that this season's poor results (and lack of player development) is going to really hurt the franchise the next few years.
  4. If you're not demoralized with this team right now you're either A) not a Brewers fan or B) don't care about winning. This is as bad as things have been in years...only this time we can't point to the "great" prospects that are getting ready in the minors.
  5. 0-6 homestand during "Spring Madness" where all of the casual fans come out to the park for the half priced tickets. 4-14 record at home which sets a new club record for worst start to a season at home. Now a road trip against two division leaders and the Pirates. Demoralized? No. Lost all hope, ready to trade anyone for decent pitching, for all intensive purposes this season is over? Yes.
  6. Unless something changes dramatically with the pitching staff, this team is headed towards a 70-75 win season. The starting pitching is brutal and on the rare occasion our starter holds the opponent under 3 runs, he only lasts 5 innings. And the bullpen is one giant gas can. I was as optimistic as anyone coming into this season but let's face it, pitching gets teams to the playoffs, and this team is four and a half decent starters shy of a good rotation.
  7. Hey guys, Thanks for some great ideas. I never really thought about a trip the the Hall of Fame for various sports but that is exactly the type of thing I am asking for help with. Again, if anyone would like to write a short "article" on a specific sporting event, use the "Contact Us" button on the web page and send it over. I am not a fan of motor sports so I am not particularly familiar with the environment one encounters on a trip to a race in order to write about it. I am looking to put best documents received into my book.
  8. The Ultimate Sports Fan's Bucket List is coming... Visit http://theultimatesportsfansbucketlist.blogspot.com to help define the 101 sporting events that all die-hard sports fans must attend at least once in their lifetime. Visit http://theultimatesportsfansbucketlist.blogspot.com for further details. Send in your submission and it could be a part of an upcoming book set to be published late 2010!
  9. Is it me or is Craig Coshun a terrible TV announcer? The guy sounds like a freakin' robot, completely monotone and the next time he says something interesting will be the first.
  10. 10-18 Tie: 4 + 10 + 2 = 16
  11. Yes...his arm is literally dead.
  12. He's got a dead arm...and he's not hiding it very well.
  13. Couldn't agree more. He's completely washed up. If he is our closer after tonight it's only because of his historical career; I'd honestly feel more confident tossing Suppan out there in the 9th over Hoffman...I'm not joking.
  14. Yeah, yeah, yeah....we're only 6 games into the season, small sample size, etc...BUT, I want to know what everyone thinks about Trevor Hoffman. Is he still an elite closer who had a bad series? Or are hitters adjusting to the fact that his fastball isn't what it used to be and are now sitting on one pitch? Is it time to panic? Will Hawkins be closing games for us some time this summer? Hard to answer any of those questions, just wanted to get others' opinions. Count me in as one who will be sweating bullets in a one run game where Hoffman has to face Aramis Ramirez, Derek Lee or Soriano this week in Chicago.
  15. One good game for Gomez to start the year....since then I'd say he's wearing out his welcome pretty quickly.
  16. Year after year after year it's the same thing. Brewers go up against a no-name pitcher with relatively little MLB experience and get shut down. I felt great when "Hi-me Garcia" was inserted instead of Carpenter but as usual, he looks like Cy freakin' Young against us. It really is unbelievable how many times this has happened to the Brewers.
  17. Just wondering if anyone who went to Opening Day has any stories, comments, annoyances, famous sightings, etc. I always get a kick out of reading different experiences.
  18. Not only Opening Day tix, but the games that were supposedly near sellouts right after tickets went on sale (4/10, 4/24 and 5/15) now have plenty of tickets available.
  19. 10-13 Tiebreaker: 4+5+3 = 12
  20. LOL...so we're going to have ticket pricing similar to the stock market? I can hear it now..."The Brewers won their 5th straight game today and the BTI (Brewers Ticket Index) rose 2.4% to close at $78.44 for a Loge Infield ticket. Playoff ticket futures also rose 1.5% to finish the day at $168.23."
  21. I always thought it was funny when I would sit in row 7 or 8 knowing that my seats were $50 less than the guy two rows in front of me. IMO, the diamond box seats are only worth the money if you're sitting in the first row. Seriously, what is difference between row 3 and row 7??? Not $50, that's for sure. I've sat in the first row behind the Brewers dugout a couple of times and it is by far the coolest place to watch a game. Everyone should get the chance to sit in those seats at least once...you can hear the players talking in the dugout for crying out loud!
  22. Doesn't Suppan have pretty good career stats vs. St. Louis? Or maybe I'm imagining things again.
  23. Screw WMLW. The picture is like trying to pick up a low signal station out of LaCrosse using rabbit ears. If we want to cater to those stuck in the stone age who don't have basic cable, then at least team up with a station that can provide a picture better than the equivalent of a public access station. As a side note, if you don't have basic cable then you really don't care all that much about watching the Brewers on tv, IMO.
  24. Does anyone know the face value of standing room only tickets for opening day? I'm looking at buying some on craigslist but want to know the face value. Anyone know? Thanks.
  25. I see the Brewers are currently advertising 4-packs on their website. After taking a look, can someone tell me what I'm missing? You get four assigned games for face value and still have to pay a $10 service charge per each 4-pack. Why wouldn't you just order individual tickets to any games you want as opposed to having the Brewers choose the four for you? Is it because they include a bobblehead game in each package implying that those tickets will be sold out on the first day tickets are sold? Not likely, so what is it?
