  1. Cliff Lee would look very nice in a Brewers uniform. Throw in DeRosa too!
  2. As for the disputed HR, isn't there a space in between the fence and the stands where the ball would have to land in order to be a HR? It's not like the first one where there was some sort of roof over the bullpen.
  3. Well I've got Dish and it's all but guaranteed I won't have a signal the rest of the night. Any time there's a freakin' cloud in the sky the picture goes out.
  4. Sigh...I will never understand why managers make these types of decisions. You're kidding right? Maybe because you have the best closer in the history of the game in your bullpen?
  5. Not "tinting" the windows was a horrible oversight when building Miller Park. I'm sorry, but it looks awful on TV and from the stands. I've thought that since the day the park opened - I can't understand why this is just becoming an issue now. Thankfully with Braun's comments maybe something will change. I wonder if there have been/will be any free agents that don't want to sign with the Brewers because of the crazy shading situation.
  6. Review Itinerary Sun, Jun 14 from Milwaukee 01:35pm Milwaukee, WI (MKE) 03:06pm Nashville, TN (BNA) YX2669 Non-Stop Meal: None View seats | Canadair Regional Jet
  7. With all the ragging on Hall and Hart (and for good reason), why is J.J. getting a free pass? You could make a case that he is the worst hitter on the team right now. I'm not saying we have a ton of guys to plug into his place but man has he been bad recently. The offensively woeful "triple-H combo" of Hardy, Hart and Hall are killing us right now. Until at least one of the three get things turned around there is NO reason to have all three in the lineup on the same day. (edit: more explicative thread title --1992)
  8. 12-16 ......at least I'll have a chance at the bobble if we suck! For the record, I'd rather have the guy who predicted 18-10 win. :-) 17 HRs
  9. The unfortunate thing is that he'll be suspended five games and just have his next start pushed back a day. MLB should institute a different policy for pitchers when it comes to suspensions. A three game suspension for a position player should equal a ten gamer for a starting pitcher. It will never happen because nothing in baseball is cut and dry but I wish it would.
  10. Forget tonight. Tonight's loss means nothing. Instead, the balance of our season might be hanging in the balance as I type (Braun's x-rays)....I will breathe a huge sigh of relief when I go to brewers.com in the morning and find out Braun's wrist is fine and will start Wednesday afternoon. As much as I want to believe it's "just a bruise" I'm having flashbacks of Weeks injury. It seemed pretty minor at the time he left the game and the next day, boom - out for the season.
  11. Looper, Parra, Bush vs. Slowey, Swarzak, Baker = Twins domination? This was as bad a series as I can remember going back to late last year.
  12. No question....Advantage: TWINS
  13. The PLAZABURGER at The Plaza bar in Madison is my favorite burger in the world. I'm sure some people on this board have been there, especially if you went to UW. It's a dive bar that is a staple for me after Badger football games. The Plazaburger is not your traditional 1/3 pound of grilled beef loaded with everything under the sun. Small patty fried on a whole wheat bun with the "secret" Plaza sauce and pickles.........I would eat a half dozen if it wouldn't give me an instant heart attack.
  14. Chicago is Milwaukee x 10. There are ten times as many restaurants, bars, nightclubs, attractions, etc. in the city. There is also ten times the amount of traffic, expenses, people, headaches, noise, etc. . I like Chicago once in awhile. It's fun to visit once a year or so, but I can't imagine living there. I always find it hilarious when you hear Milwaukee traffic reports on the radio and they say "traffic is a nightmare this morning....Brown Deer to downtown is 20 minutes!" whereas in Chicago "the inbound Edens to downtown is moving right along, only an hour and 45 minutes." Insane!
  15. I'd like to see a shirt that just says "1908" in big font. Maybe a picture of a goat as well!
  16. I agree. Villy has shown he is not an effective setup man.
  17. I don't really see future rosters improving that much from this years. As far as our lineup 1-9 this is about as good as it's going to get. Gamel will be an upgrade at third but Escobar will be an equal to Hardy; other than that we don't have any major "can't miss" prospects that are close to ready....especially in the pitching department. Speaking of our rotation, if you look at small market teams, most if not all of the good pitching is home grown and that has been the case for us as well. We're never going to go out and sign a star pitcher (and I don't think Melvin wants to take a gamble on hit or miss pitchers like Suppan again) so our farm system better start producing or we're going to be stuck in the situation we are now for years to come.
  18. The problem is that in this scenario we have bad odds of winning either game with the pitching match-ups the way they were set. Would you rather have a 35% chance of winning each game or a 5% chance of winning one game and a 75% chance of winning the other?
  19. I agree that over the full year the staff will be inferior, there's no getting around that. Once Hoffman comes back, he'll be as good as Torres (knock on wood). Coffey has been better than any reliever from this time last year.
  20. It feels that way but other than Sheets (admittedly a big part of the rotation) how much different is our rotation/bullpen now than it was a year ago? I think the offense is just as much to blame for the poor start. Other than the win against Cincy and to some extent the first game against SF, we haven't had any big run scoring games. If you look at our first 10 games, most of our scoring has taken place in one inning (and usually a result of a long ball). It would be nice to put up crooked numbers in multiple innings for a change.
  21. If I could ask for anything on a new site (or even the current site) it is to please relax the posting rules. This is THE board to talk Brewers baseball, yet on the main forum we've got threads from two days ago on the first page. I for one would like to be able to discuss a game on the main board after it has ended. Discussions on the 10th page of the in-game thread don't really work too well because it's a hodgepodge of topics after a game. For instance, if I want to start a discussion on "Weeks' first two at bats" it ends up buried in between posts about Macha's choice of relievers, a comment on the drunk guy in front of someone at the game and a couple "tomorrow is a must win" posts. Overall, I think this is a very nice site. The current rules kill more discussions than they help start. Please try not to forget what fan forums and message boards are for. Thank you!
  22. I understand the intent of the moderators to keep the board free of one line threads that consist of "BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" but being Brewers fans a lot of us come here to vent and let off some steam. What is the problem with a venting thread or even a venting forum? It doesn't clutter the board; not that there is anything to clutter since there are rarely any new threads on the main board.
  23. Sadly, I'm going to say 5-13. We never play well in Philly and Houston is probably saying the same thing about us when we come to town. After Houston we have three vs. the surprisingly good pitching of the Pirates at home. Other than Washington there are no gimmes in the NL this year; then again maybe we're just not very good.
  24. Tough one to lose with Santana and Suppan in the next two games....then off to Philly against Hamels. I don't have a good feeling about our record for April. Will we be ten games under .500 on May 1??? :-(
  25. Since a venting thread is not allowed for some odd reason, is there a way you can set up a completely different forum outside the Major Leagues forum that can be used for venting? It seems kind of odd that we cannot post what we're thinking/feeling/reacting about how the season is going unless it is positive or backed up by some statistical trends. Thanks.
