  1. I'm sure Melvin's phone will be ringing off the hook with GM's lining up to trade quality starters for those three. Remember, we couldn't trade Claudio Vargas (i.e. Dave Bush #2) for a "never-make-it" minor leaguer.

  3. Every time we play the Twins it seems like we see how fundamentally sound they are while the Brewers are making mistake after mistake. For whatever reason, this topic always seems to come up during the Minnesota series. I don't know if it's a coincidence or what the deal is. But the question is, who is to blame for the Brewers poor play in the field? There was a time when I would've said it's the player's fault for missing a cutoff man or not laying down a bunt, but it seems to go beyond the guys on the field. The Twins seem to be a fundamentally sound team no matter who they have in the field and the Brewers continue to embarrass themselves no matter who they have on the field. Are the Twins' coaches doing something the Brewers' aren't? What makes them so much better?
  4. Hopefully Soriano's stint on the DL uses the "Ben Sheets DL Timetable" - i.e. out six weeks really means out until September.
  5. Hahaha. ROFL! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  6. I'll bet you a pair of tickets to an upcoming game that the Brewers are NOT .500 or better on June 1. It would be great, but it's not gonna happen.
  7. LOL....this thread is a pipe dream. Sabathia? Lincecum? Penny? Lowe? There is no way that any of those players are let go and I have absolutely no doubt that the Brewers will never actually make a "Johan Santana" type move.
  8. Can the Brewers be good when they're expected to be good, just once??? All the (legitimate) hype surrounding this team is making these bad, bad losses much harder to take. Sadly, it's hard to expect much of a turnaround without Yo and a bullpen that is as predictable as a plastic bag in the wind. Oh yeah, and the offense SUCKS too. Are we trying to set the major league record for sub-.200 hitters in a lineup? Yes I'm talking about you Rickie, Billy, Cameron. Ugh....I've said it every year for the past 15 years, "I wish I didn't care about the Brewers."
  9. If Ned comes on in his postgame presser and starts talking about how Gagne was "throwing the ball real good, they (the Cardinals) were just seeing the ball well and dumping it where we weren't" I'm going to burn the rest of this year's tickets in my backyard tonight.
  10. Jeez, and I thought we got rid of Turnbow.
  11. Ned is Wendy Selig's secret brother and is trying to bring us down from the inside.
  12. If (assumingly) Kendall doesn't miss the sign and drops down a bunt, then it's a great play. The squeeze is always a "horrible" play when it doesn't work. Kendall can barely get the ball midway to the warning track on the fly so a sac fly is not likely. At any rate it was a very ugly play, typcial of the way we've been playing lately.
  13. It's only fitting that the last inning of our dismal roadtrip ends with an opposing player making a great play to take away a hit, followed by a strikeout and a weak fly ball out by one of our "better" hitters.....I've seen more of those three plays in the last few weeks than I can stomach.
  14. Very true, but if I had to put money on it I'd say we have a better chance of losing 90 games than winning 85. Losing streaks more often than not seem to turn into complete tailspins. You'll have to excuse me if I have no faith in the Brewers to turn a season around. 20+ years of bad, bad baseball will do that to a fan.
  15. This team isn't fun anymore. I can't believe after all the hype and talk of a team built around Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan and a revamped bullpen....this is what we get. This is the culmination of the stellar years of our farm system? Has our time already come and gone? Think about it: Sheets is gone after this year which will undoubtedly leave a gaping hole in the rotation when we try to plug in a Vargas type pitcher in his spot. The league has figured out Braun and Fielder and so far they seem incapable of making adjustments. Weeks and Hardy look like they'll never hit .275 the rest of their careers and Bill Hall is the second coming of Jose Hernandez. All in all this team sucks right now. Flat out SUCKS. There is absolutely no excuse for Ned Yost to still be the manager of this team, yet for some reason he seems to get a free pass from Doug Melvin/Attanasio. Venting complete.
  16. Unreal. God is definitely not a Brewers fan.
  17. Goodbye (and good riddance!) Derrick Turnbow. Welcome back Dave Bush.
  18. This game is the definition of "hindsight is 20/20." If Ned doesn't use EG and Shouse, Riske, or Turnbow blows the save, everyone is up in arms about how our $10 million closer who has converted his last 4 saves wasn't in the game. It's a lose/lose situation unless Gagne does his job.
  19. Unfortunately we've been through this same song and dance before: 1. Sheeter is feeling much better today and may not miss a start. 2. Sheets misses next start as a "precautionary move." 3. Sheets feels some sorness during usual warmups. 4. Sheets to 15-day DL retroactive to 8 days ago. 5. Sheets to make minor league rehab start in early June. 6. Sheets makes three above average starts with the Brewers in June. 7. Sheets comes down with strange illness (ebola, polio, smallpox) and misses rest of the season. Sorry to sound so pessemistic but I'm expecting the worst until I see otherwise.
  20. Caveat: I know we're only 14 games in. I'm not jumping ship, I'm not panicking or calling for Melvin to start making trades. But looking at our lineup is a decent example of why when given the opportunity late in the season to make a big trade to push the team into the playoffs, you do it. Last year in July/August the Brewers were in the thick of a pennant race and did nothing to improve the team. While arguments can be made as to why Melvin did not make any big move, the biggest reason seemed to be the assumption that "We have a young team and should be special next year, so let's not give up anything." Looking at our lineup, we should have one of the best offenses in the NL, yet for all we know Braun could have a huge sophmore slump, Fielder could be seriously out of shape and we could struggle to score runs all year. Not saying that will be the case, but you can't really count on anything to be the same from one year to the next. If we're in the same situation this year, DM should do whatever it takes to push us over the hump IMO. I guess I'm just frustrated that despite the lineup the Brewers trot out to the field, despite the expectations, the "big" names on the team, etc., we're still subject to the same crappy baseball every year. I don't expect us to go undefeated, but every year there seems to be some huge glaring problem (no pitching, no defense, no offense). I guess I was expecting the Brewers to get off to a start like the Cardinals have and play consisntently good baseball all year, but even in this year where expectations are higher than ever there are more questions than answers. ***deep breath*** Someone remind me that it's a LONG season.
  21. Bases loaded, two outs, down a run in the ninth...who would you rather have at the plate: Gabe Gross, Chad Moeller, or Wes Obermueller?
  22. Favorite Ex-Brewer is without a doubt Geoff Jenkins. Sure he was frustrating as hell at times in a Brewers uniform but he was a class act.
  23. Ugh. Cameron catches that ball. 2 runs for Santana? Not looking good today.
