  1. Glad there isn’t an off day today! I’m excited for this series. I love Fenway, so watching the Brewers play there is a blast. Weather doesn’t look great for baseball but that’s spring. Have a game Woody!
  2. I’m excited for some day baseball. I’d like to see Miz pitch to contact a bit more to keep his pitch count down. I think he will learn that skill as he matures. He sure is fun to watch.
  3. Torts! I literally thought to myself this morning, wonder when Torts will start the optimism thread, because I need it!
  4. I’m too excited to wait for the game thread today to pop up so I’ll post here. That first game was a blast. I was fortunate enough to be sitting on the beach listening to it. That was fun! I can’t wait for tonight. Hope they keep it rolling. I’m excited to see Hamilton out there again. Go Crew!
  5. We are arguing about the beauty of sports and competition. WBC, Olympics, 4 nations face off, World Cup, etc. Those things are beautiful and matter more than regular season games. We should celebrate it. And yes there will be injuries but I’ll take the passion of those events over the risk of a player from my team getting hurt.
  6. I’m in the camp of this guy entirely fine and honestly I would give him a little extra time off to make sure it’s completely ready to go. He’ll be fine and ready to kick some butt when he’s back. This team is built to be flexible.
  7. It's that time of year again. I see we have our 2026 season predictions thread up. Time to start getting everyone's monthly predictions going. We will combine March with April. Here's to hoping the Crew has another magical season! Hopefully we don't get torpedoed out of the water in the open series like last year. 3 CWS 3 TB 3 KC 3 BOS 3 WAS 3 TOR 3 MIA 3 DET 3 PIT 3 ARI 30 Games 16-14 is my prediction.
  8. Boy..... this is a tough one. I'm pessimistic when I throw out season long predictions. Mainly I don't want to get my hopes up too high. The roster is young and there are still a lot of question marks. If I didn't know better I'd be thinking lower 80s wins. But Murphy gets his guys to play together as a team and they steal wins they maybe shouldn't get. Those add up. Also, I have to trust the front office. We might have questions at certain spots, but they consistently do a good job of filling those holes. So I'm going to got 88 wins on the season. edit: adding my other predictions before the opener Playoffs: Yes, Wild Card MVP: Churio. I think he takes his game to the next level and he already seems like he has the clutch gene. Team Cy Young: Miz. I believe he has the attitude and ability to be the man. We’ve seen flashes of it. ROY: Sproat Most Surprising Player: Mitchell gets a close full season in and shows what he can do. Gives the team a big boost. Man I hope I’m right on this one. Most Disappointing Player: C Rengifo. People pile on him as their most hated player and he’s out mid year.
  9. Exactly my thoughts. I'd love to have him stay but it feels like a huge risk to extend a catcher. I'll be quite sad when he leaves the club.
  10. I agree with your whole post, but this is my mindset as well. Ortiz is so good at SS. Putting him back at 3b doesn't make sense to me. I get why people want an upgraded bat at SS, but I think some people might under appreciate how good his glove is. I hope his bat is closer to the 2024 version because that would be a huge boost!
  11. I've been thinking about this too. Brewers are valuing defense more at 3b. They are going against the grain. We can't compete and pay for the best third basemen in the game so we need to find value. How can we get better without having to pay a premium. Maybe we find lightning in a bottle with one of our prospects having power and defense, but it seems to me that it's harder and harder to find good 3b prospects.
  12. Ok, after thinking on this more over the last 24 hours, I have some thoughts. I don't think we do any splash moves for a third baseman. We have two of the top ten 3b prospects along with Made in our system. To me, I think their thought was, we can piece this together for a year. Let's not lose sight of the long term plan. I could see them adding a scrap heap type third basemen to throw into the mix and hope they can contribute. They are saying, we'll take on the risk of more variance this year for the higher potential in the near future. We may take a step back this year, or maybe we are fine. Time will tell, but I'm excited to see all these young players coming through the system.
  13. Got a text from my friend that said "well, no Durbin this year." I assumed he got hurt and didn't even think of a trade. Then I saw Monasterio and Seigler were included and I was confused. My initial reaction was, something else has to be coming after this trade. Another trade or signing. I'd be all for a low risk one or two year deal or trade, as long as we aren't giving up much. But I also think we can figure this out, in true Brewer fashion, with what we have. I put my trust in the front office and I'm excited to see how the new guys perform. I'm guessing it was either sell high or we got a great offer from the Sox and couldn't turn it down. As others have said, they will take higher end talent and figure out who plays where later. I believe we have more upside after this trade, but it may take a year to find a third basemen.
  14. How are we all feeling about our 1B group this year? How do you think Vaughn ends up? My friend and I were talking the other day and wishing Yelich would try playing 1B a little bit. Didn't they mess around with that idea in the past? Did Yelich not want to do it or was he not good over there?
  15. Agreed. Is there any chance we can do anything with Contreras or is he gone for sure? Obviously I hate to see him go but the trade route next year has to be the move if he's going to get a huge contract when he goes on the market.
  16. I was thinking the same thing. Of the prospects listed, were many of them in the top 100 for MLB? Right now it seems like we have way more high end prospects. Of course the success rate is still low, but I like our chances with this group to get a couple very good players. Time will tell!
  17. Yes I was kind of thinking next year and the year after type timeline. Obviously a lot can change in a year or two so going beyond that would be tough.
  18. Does Made profile more like a 3B or SS? Again I haven't dug that deep in to our prospects so I have no clue. I know it's on the table. Could he also end up in CF?
  19. With so many quality players on the major league roster and prospects coming up, what's your ideal scenario for the way things shake out defensively? Do we try to extend Turang or trade him? Does he ever move to SS? I'm not educated enough on the prospects. I love the flexibility we have with all these athletic, up the middle defenders, but we only have so much room!
  20. I can't pretend to say I know enough about these prospects but it appears to be a good haul for Freddy. I trust Matt Arnold. I love Freddy and enjoyed having him on this team. I don't take these things personal. I hate to see him go but know this is the only way we can continually compete with the way Major League Baseball is set up. As others have mentioned, I don't think Freddy is an ace, but a dang good number two. Fingers crossed the guys we got back have a positive impact on our team.
  21. There were so many pressures that made it intense for the players and fans. Brewers can't win in the playoffs, they are just a regular season team. we heard it all year. Playing their biggest rival. Counsell leaving and going to Chicago FIBs being Fibs Calling our Stadium Wrigley North How last year ended in dramatic fashion There were so many reasons I couldn't stomach a first round loss this year. I instantly felt a huge relief when they won. I'm sure the players did too. As for the Dodgers, I have a few concerns. My first is will they come out flat tonight after a very emotional win Saturday? Set's up perfect for a let down. An absolutely electric environment Saturday. The fans will really have to get that going early tonight. I do think the Dodgers gave us a higher level effort during the regular season after we won a few games. I believe the crowd was pretty electric in Milwaukee for the series, playoff environment. We handled their best efforts and won. That said, we were hot and they were cold. The Dodgers are hot right now it seems. I think we will have more determination but we will need some luck too. Hoping for a great series..... or a sweep for the Brewers so I don't have to stress as much.
  22. Wild Bill! Man oh man that was good and has me so excited for this next game. No matter what happens, this season has been extremely fun to witness. I'm glad I'm a Brewer fan.
  23. What are we thinking happens with Woody? If we get to the next round, do you think there is a chance he's on the roster? What about DL Hall? Sorry I'm bad with the roster stuff and never pay attention to it. I know he came back for the last game in the year. What's the vibe from everyone on the current roster?
  24. I'm happy with a minimal approach to the automated strike zone. I think having a fully automated zone is going to take too much away from the game. I actually hate the idea of it. There is so much art to pitch framing and a pitcher using an umps zone, when he's consistent, to his advantage. I do think having the challenges available for when they miss is a good idea, but let's keep the umps calling balls and strikes. Also, could challenges only be successful if they are clearly outside of the zone vs missing by a millimeter? Part of the entertainment of baseball is the back and forth with the umps and the fans reactions to what they think are bad calls. It feels like we will lose a lot. The game will feel uneventful on all called pitches. My one concern with the challenges will be the coaches getting instant feedback to batters with some sort of signal or noise. That could be tough to monitor. I think it will be funny when you get some goofy guy like a Manny Ramirez, who won't listen to his manager and will wildly use challenges and burn them up in the first inning. I don't know of Manny is the right example but was looking for a guy who is in his own world.
