  1. My man! I love this thread and seeing your positivity all year. Let's go!!!!
  2. Annual tradition of getting your monthly predictions on record. Hopefully I can do a better job of keeping up with future months, or others can pick up my slack. What are your predictions for the first month? NYM 3 MIN 2 SEA 3 CIN 4 BAL 3 SD 3 STL 3 PIT 4 NYY 3 TB 2 Total 30 My guess 12-18 Yikes, this is a tough opening month!
  3. I agree BrewerFan, I'm looking forward to seeing the young guys play and hopefully improve as the season goes on. There will be a lot of ups and downs. I'm guessing we will have a couple stretches that are very rough. Ultimately my guess is we win 80 but I think it will be a very fun year. I'm hoping I'm off in my prediction and they come out and surprise!
  4. Not going to lie, this one stings. I was hoping for Jones and Jacobs, 1-2 punch for a year or two. I get it though, Jones is 29 and unfortunately he doesn't have much time left. I was hoping Jacobs could take a majority of carries, especially early, and save him for the stretch run. Oh well, it was fun in my head while it lasted! Going to miss Jones and I wish him the best.
  5. Nice win tonight. Instead of watching the game my family and I watched the Giannis documentary on Amazon Prime. Man! A must watch if you haven't seen it. Had me in tears multiple times and so pumped for him and the bucks at the end. What a great story and a great person. I don't know if we can pull it off but I hope he spends his whole career here.
  6. I mean what the heck happened to these guys? I love watching them play no matter what but our mojo is off right now. I hope they get some momentum going here quick or we are going to be in trouble in the tournament.
  7. I came up with a way..... don't click on it.
  8. I totally get your take and your feelings. I've had those too, because of the way they marketed him being the manager. I did think he was going to be here forever. I give him a break because at the time, maybe he did believe it. But also, I think this is the marketing department more than CC. The hype videos and all that. They were great and they got me going, which is the point. I'm not mad at him. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because I think he was great for our team while he was here. I'll miss him. I'll let you know how I really feel when I see him managing the cubs across the other side of the field. I might get a little angry/jealous at that point, especially if they are better than us.
  9. I've gone back and forth a lot on this and my take is he is very competitive and wants to win a World Series. After seeing what type of teams the Brewers can put together, always missing some aspects of a true contender, he decided to leave. With Burnes and Woody probably out, Sterns leaving, it was good timing so he wouldn't be blamed if there were a couple years of rebuilding. Add to that he can go to Chicago and still keep his house and life in Milwaukee if he wants. I have no clue if he did or not, but I guess it would be tempting for many to not have to move their family.
  10. Good for Woody! Good for the Brewers! My hope is this is where he wanted to be to rehab. We can speculate all we want but we don't know what happened and why he signed. We also don't know what he will be when he comes back. Odds aren't great for him but I'm wishing him the best!
  11. I think when guys change their swing there is a typical progression. Changes swing because they are struggling. Gets better results initially. People freak out. Then they regress and end up where they were before or worse. People freak out again. The key then is do they lose faith and abandoned everything they've been working on or do they trust the work and commit to the new swing (pitch, arm slot, Yada yada). That's when you typically see if it has staying power. Can they get back up to a spot where they are better than they were before. Batter changes something, pitchers make adjustments, batter struggles, but can they make more adjustments to get back ahead of the pitcher. A constant battle! I'm happy he's doing this and I do think it could have a pretty solid impact for him.
  12. Missed the game last night unfortunately but great to see them get back on track. We need to figure out the turnovers and yes, getting guys healthy and back on the court will be huge. They are a good team. Hopefully they start to get hot again heading in to the tournament.
  13. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Normally when there is a shoulder injury, I think it's time to avoid any new contracts and I'm always pessimistic, thinking the pitcher is done. The problem here is I love Woody and think he's such a bulldog on the mound. I have been hopeful there is a team friendly deal to be had and he comes back close to where he used to be. But the chances of that.... not great.
  14. How good would he be in today's game? He was ahead of his time!
  15. Why not put Yelich first, followed by Contreras and then Hoskins? I'd rather have our best hitters at the top instead of making Hoskins a "clean up" hitter. Unless someone becomes a good OBP guys, then we can bump him back.
  16. I was just texting a buddy and said the same thing, this will be a fun year. A young team is a ton of entertainment. Lots of ups and downs but seeing the potential in these guys is a blast. That's why I'm leaning more towards trading Willy and Devon and grabbing more pitching prospects. Not to derail the thread! My buddy brought up a good point though, keeping Willy to be a clubhouse guy to bridge the gap between managers, might be smart. Either way I'm excited to see the youth play this year. I too am in the camp of adding another starter and also going with a 6 man rotation.
  17. What starters in our system are most likely to be part of the rotation at some point this year? Who is our highest upside starter in the farm system?
  18. Worried about this Nebraska game tonight. I don't want to call it a trap game, because that's not fair to NEB, they are a good team. Always tough to play on the road so they are really going to have to grind this thing out. Can't wait to watch! The last game was a blast.
  19. That was a tough loss last night. Penn State looked like world beaters. We could not defend their guards or ball screens. On the other end it seemed like they got away with a lot more contact. They seemed to not get called when they'd strip the ball out on moves to the hoop. Trying not to be a homer! I was impressed how composed the team stayed despite some of these tough calls. It showed their maturity. I was holding out hope they'd sneak out of there with a win when things weren't going their way but we just couldn't get stops. AJ looked so explosive last night! Great to see.
  20. I spent some time on the Cowboys and Bears message boards the last few nights and boy was that entertaining. I've never seen so much swearing and attacking of other posters on a message board. Pretty funny. Also made me thankful for the community here. The boards I visited are extremely toxic. Still in disbelief over how that game played out. Go Pack!
  21. Question for all of you: How would you rank the future of all our 1st and 2nd year pass catchers (TEs included)? What a fun group to watch. I have no idea who ends up being the cream that rises but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
  22. I think it's great they did this. It's not that often you get such a highly ranked prospect in your system. My hope is it works out great for both sides and he plays at or above expectations. We should be celebrating the move and the risk the Brewers took to try and keep him here as long as possible. Cheer this guy on!
  23. You're right. They do get a heck of a workout out there. Curious how big hockey is in Soutern WI and on the east. I know it's pretty big in NW Wisconsin, but don't know much about the rest of the state.
  24. Well we tried to avoid it but that's hard in MN. I'm officially a hockey Dad. Our middle started hockey last year and was also playing basketball, but he absolutely fell in love with hockey and is all in on it this year (which means no basketball). This has now spread to our youngest who's doing a learn to play/skate deal this year. I have to admit, I'm falling in love with the sport. It's very cool to see my 7 year old be so excited about it. Anyway, I wanted to see if any of you out there had any advice on kids and parents going through hockey. Good bad and ugly.
