  1. C'mon. The banner you get to hang in your park. Bragging rights. The historic FACT that you took the division instead of some cheesey best-of-the-rest distinction. And if we lose, which is every bit as likely if not more likely, there's your second devastating kick straight to the crotch. Stupid Braves, thanks for nothing. I see your point, but I think the Marlins could care less that they've never won the NL East. They are happy with their 2 championships
  2. Just enjoy the run to the playoffs. Divsion...wild card, they mean nothing. Sure the extra home game is nice, but how many WC teams have advanced to the WS this decade? I think we are all sailing towards a Cubs/Brewers NLCS, one which will be extremely extremely enjoyable. And just think, if there was a Cubs/Brewers NLCS and the Brewers won, you can basically shut up every Cubs fan that comes to Miller Park next year http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. According to WGN it will be Marquis/Morton in the first game and Harden/Campillo in the second game, so the pitching matchups will change. Good luck tonight guys, hell of a run you are on.
  4. I agree with you. I come here not to cheer on the Cubs, but to talk about the game with fans of a different perspective. I post on NSBB and tolerate plenty of Brewers/Cardinals fans there, but I still get riled up when a Brewers fan says "Go Brewers!" on the board even if everything else they say is non-trollish. I'm not here to cheer but to add to the discussion with little to no bias on my end (save for the occasional "devils advocate" type post that goes against conventional thinking). You almost certainly won't find me posting during a game, as I save that emotional talk for NSBB's game thread http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Tuesday in the nose bleeds. Don't worry I'm not an obnoxious Cub fan like the rest that poison your park. Actually when I went last year I almost got into a fight with a Cub fan because he was pissing everyone off around us.
  6. Brewers should be heavily favored, but don't be deceived by Lilly's season numbers. Since April 22nd (after his first 4 starts), he is 10-3 with a 3.69 ERA 1.28 WHIP 106 K. That's not to say he's not an absolutely horrible matchup against the Brewers, who both hit a lot of HRs and mash lefties. Lilly is 2nd in MLB in Home Runs allowed with 23 this year, so if they tee off on him early it could be a long night for my Cubs. Lilly tends to get beat up in the first couple innings, as it takes him 20-30 pitches to get his fastball into the 90's, but once he gets there, he seems to get stronger in the middle innings.
  7. Sorry guys http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I am a fan of the losers to the South http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I don't mind the Brewers and their fans though (except for the fact that you're also Packers fans), so I like to chime in here from time to time.
  8. We saw this last year with the Brewers, except its the opposite. Our pitchers are pitching, our hitters can't hit squat this entire month. That's what happens when you don't have a superstar hitter on your entire team.
  9. I now know how you guys felt last year. I will now drink myself into a stupor that hopefully lasts through tomorrows games. Enjoy the World Series guys! We still have another 30-50 years to go until we reach ours.
  10. He's also being brought up really prematurely. This guy had a 1.60 WHIP in AA....had a couple of decent starts in AAA and now is getting a cup of coffee. What you are seeing is definitely not the finished product. He's not going to be a star, but he will be servicable.
  11. Now I'm worried. The Cubs are freaking horrible right now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  12. Lets take a look at that 37-12 record: 2-4 against the Brewers (Brewers haven't played the Cubs at home) 2-1 against Houston (Brewers went 3-0) 4-2 against Cincy (Brewers went 2-4) 5-1 against Pitt (Brewers went 3-0) 2-0 against NYM 3-0 against Arizona (Brewers went 3-0) 3-1 against SDP 4-0 against COL (Brewers went 2-2) 3-0 against LAD (Brewers went 1-2) 3-0 against ATL (Brewers went 2-1) 3-0 against CWS 1-2 against Baltimore (Brewers went 2-1) 2-1 against SFG (Brewers went 3-0) So in comparable games (take out a 2-1 Pitt series to make it even): MIL 21-10 CHC 25-6 A 4-game lead, 2 of which we made up head-to-head already at Wrigley. We still have those 7 games against the Pirates and Padres to make up further ground, not to mention the 7 Miller Park home games with the Scrubs. How can you assume the teams we played in April and May are the same as the teams you will play in August in September and vice versa? In fact how can you assume your team is the same? A perfect example is Arizona. You went 3-0 against Arizona, but you didn't have to face Webb or Haren. The Cubs went 3-0 against Arizona and we played Haren. The matchups arent the same, a lot of times the position players arent the same. So you can't matchup common games and expect you guys to play exactly the same as we did.
  13. Yeah we played bad on the road. I know, its a concern. We are the 2007 Brewers on the road. We did play 6 series against teams that currently occupy a playoff spot, and 5 of them were on the road. Plus we dealt with some bad injuries. Replace someone like Prince Fielder with someone like Craig Counsell in your lineup for 6 weeks (ok that example is slightly exagerated on both counts) and then play 2/3 of your games for a 7 weeks span on the road. Also for fun take our both your CFs, closer, ace for various parts of that time and then tell me if you'd be happy with an over .500 record during that stretch. Anyways, I sound like an excuse filled Cub fan, and thats not my intention here. I'm just saying we're not that concerned because we know that we are a better team that we've been with a great schedule coming up. Do I think the Cubs will play .750 ball the next 26 home games in that stretch? I doubt it. But we will play better than the .450 we play on the road.
  14. Cubs faced Haren last time around, and IIRC, Brewers missed both during their series in Milwaukee
  15. Just wanted to point out that the Cubs just went 22-19 during a stretch where they played 29 of 44 games on the road (with 3 left to play), without one of their big boppers, their ace (for 2 starts), their closer (for possibly 10 games). They are now about go go on a stretch where they play 26 of their next 39 at home (where they are 37-12 this year), and their team will be healthy (for the time being). Yes, I'm a Cubs fan. No, I'm not trying to troll. Just pointing out why a lot of Cubs fans aren't too worried. That said, IMO the Brewers and Cubs are pretty much evenly matched, and it should be a great race to the finish. Just get these pesky Cardinals out of the race this week ok http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. As the resident Cubs fan here, I just wanted to let you know that most Cubs fans haven't taken their eyes off you guys one bit, despite most media outlets leaving you for dead. Good luck guys, but I just hope you win the Wild Card or something if you have to win something http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Yeah, I saw that. I know the Cubs have had their share of pitcher injury issues, but I can't say my first reaction was ever "Hahahahahaha." Not that its that much less classy, but I think the poster was laughing because Yost left Yo in the game after the injury. That said, that post was pretty classless. I am disappointed to hear about the injury. I wanted both teams to battle it out at full strength. Looks like it won't happen now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Why can't NL Central stud pitchers stay healthy. Sheets, Gallardo, Prior, Wood, Carpenter, Oswalt have all had their careers hindered by injuries.
  18. I'm a Cubs fan, but I have to say Yo has my respect to try to grit it out in that situation. You guys have a gamer in there.
  19. Gallardo jumped to avoid Reed Johnson and landed awkwardly on his right leg. At first it looked bad, but he's going to throw some pitches.
  20. Good game guys. Kudos on the new pen. Other than Gagne they looked pretty damn solid. I was questionable (as an outsider) about their moves before today, and yes it's only one game, but they looked solid. I think the Brewers could win 95 games this year. Oh well, hopefully the Cubs can make the wild card! Also, why do you get the impression that Sheets outpitched Z? 6.1 IP 2 H 2 BB 0 ER 6.2 IP 3 H 1 BB 0 ER Sheets threw 98 pitches, Z threw about 90 and probably would have thrown another inning if he didn't get his stupid cramps. I was at the game so I didn't see it on TV, but my impressions are that they pitched equally, which is really a shocker since Z sucks on Opening Day and Sheets usually doesn't do great against the Cubs.
  21. Cubs fan here. I know, you all hate me. Just wanted to wish you guys luck this year. I honestly think the Brewers are better than the Cubs and as the teams stand today, the Brewers will take the division. However, Jim Hendry never stands pat mid-season if the Cubs are in it. The wild card is whether he will make a good move or a bad move. Either way, it should be an exciting season. After the Bears and Bulls seasons, I need the Cubs to at least be competitive. So at least give us that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif (and yes I realize offering the Bears futility as a case for pity is a poor decision) Anyways, I'll be at the park Monday. From what I hear, there is no way it will be rained out. The Cubs are unveiling an Ernie Banks statue, and players like Willie Mays and Hank Aaron will be on hand for the ceremony. What I read is that the Cubs will do ANYTHING they can to get the game in so they don't have to move back the ceremony.
