  1. I would be very happy with the Brewers trading for Jackson. Doing that and signing one of the Wof/Washburn/Davis group and signing one or two of the high risk/injury prone FAs (Duscherer, Harden, Mulder, etc) to an incentive laden contract, would make me feel good about this rotation. Something along the lines of... Gallardo Jackson Wolf Duscherer Parra Push Suppan to spot starter/long relief role Do the same with Bush (or non-tender to save money...same with McClung) Decline Loopers option Now whether or not we have the pieces that Detroit wants...I guess we'll wait and see, but I think it'd make them competitive in the NL central.
  2. Yoshii - I agree with looking at Harden. With his injury history, I don't see many teams offering him too big of a contract (in terms of both years and dollars) and think a 1 year + either club or mutual option for a second year might work. Melvin has been talking a lot this summer about being more aggressive and taking risks this off season in regards to starting pitching and I think Harden would fit the bill. I'm kind of hesitant with Duchscherer....he finally finished recovering from elbow surgery towards the end of the year and then got put on the DL for clinical depression.
  3. At this point, I'm not sure. It would be interesting to see if anyone's slated to come off the DL in the very near future (either an outbound prospect or an inbound player), as maybe it's health that's holding someone up.Only two notable SP coming off the DL in the future would be Webb (rehab is going well, possibly return next month) and Kazmir (who's throwing a sim. game today)...so perhaps its not health holding things up (at least on the inbound player end of things)
  4. That is what I am wondering too....if a deal is 'pending'. what is it 'pending'? physicals? no-trade clause removals? negotiating contract extensions? picking players (like SZbrewrefan mentioned re: cc trade)?
  5. Catch a Falling Angel: Another team to keep your eye on in the next few weeks is the Angels. They are showing signs that they're willing to listen on a slew of players, including both catchers (Mike Napoli and Jeff Mathis), outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. and their entire infield. Interestingly, one commodity the Angels seem to be targeting is young pitching with upside -- which sounds like an indication they're increasingly uncertain about their ability to re-sign John Lackey. http://sports.espn.go.com...&source=MLBHeadlines Jayson Stark writes in the above article that the Angels are listening to offers on all of their infield. With Weeks out for the year, I hope the Brewers take a look at trying to bring Chone Figgins over. He can play anywhere in the infield, gives us a legit lead-off hitter, can play 'small ball', is hitting .350 over the past two months, and is FA after this year - so there is no long term commitment. If the Brewers look for a piece to jumpstart their offense, I can't think of a more perfect fit that Figgins.
  6. Ordered my tickets today. I'll be in section 126, hopefully sporting a Sabathia t-shirt jersey!
