  1. I'd still pitch Freddy. I'm just saying we get one more game from Freddy this series, and he gets a lot of flyball outs. While I would still pitch him today regardless, I could see the logic of not playing that card with the wind blowing out against a home-run dependent team. But if the wind is blowing in, I don't see any logic in not pitching Freddy.
  2. If the wind is blowing in, not pitching Freddy would be managerial malpractice IMO. If it's blowing out, I'm up for a bullpen game.
  3. Just saw the ad on the previous page…but still open to suggestions.
  4. I’m heading down to Chicago for the game…any suggestions on where to grab a drink in Wrigleyville before the game with a Brewers fan or two?
  5. What happens then? Does the player's spot who gets subbed out become the pitcher's spot?
  6. I really hope we see Priester unless we get out to a BIG lead right away again. Not just a run or two. Don't get cute.
  7. Hot take - I'd be ok with regular season games ending in ties. **ducks for cover**
  8. "And of course I’m happy they can buy expensive TVs to watch the playoffs on :)"
  9. Devin on the Yankees too Civale on the Cubs Suter on the Reds Lauer on the Blue Jays
  10. Had the exact same thought the other night watching the Yanks game, so I pulled up Grisham's BRef page...and was quite surprised by his 2025 home-road splits (roughly same number of games): Home: .195/.326/.376/.702 13 HR Road: .269/.367/.537/.904 21 HR
  11. Was at most of the aforementioned games...and I'll put my vote in for the bottom of the 1st in game 6 of the 2018 NLCS as the loudest I have ever heard the Keg. With David freakin' Freese homering in the top of the 1st, the wind went right out of the crowd. Felt like maybe that was that, it just wasn't going to happen...then the Brewers threw a haymaker right back and you could feel the collective wind come right back in. It blew the top off the park. Electric. That said, until they win the World Series...personally, I'm not sure any moment will top Braun sending that ball into the seats in game 162 in 2008. First Brewers playoff berth of my lifetime, it made no sense to me. Felt like a dream.
  12. According to ChatGPT: (Note: apparently ChatGPT is very good at assembling this data...but not good at creating a list in numerical order... ) Top 10 First Names by Combined Postseason Home Runs (Approximate) Rank First Name Notable Players (Postseason HR) Estimated Combined HR 1 Jose Jose Altuve (27), Jose Ramirez (14), others 40+ 2 David David Ortiz (17), David Justice (14), David Freese (9) ~40 3 Albert Albert Pujols (19), Albert Belle (6) ~25 4 Manny Manny Ramirez (29), Manny Machado (9) ~38 5 Carlos Carlos Beltrán (16), Carlos Delgado (7) ~25 6 Derek Derek Jeter (20), Derek Lowe (3) ~23 7 Reggie Reggie Jackson (18), Reggie Smith (5) ~23 8 Bernie Bernie Williams (22), Bernie Carbo (2) ~24 9 Jim Jim Thome (17), Jim Edmonds (13) ~30 10 Mickey Mickey Mantle (18), Mickey Stanley (2) ~20
  13. I'd argue it's more: 0 wins: Bad and the only "unacceptable" outcome 1 win: Bummer...but even 1 win leaves us squarely in the driver's seat for the division going forwards (would still be 5 games up). 2 wins: Unsatisfying...but should still be enough to all but close out the division (7 games up with 34 to play) 3+ wins: Starting printing the division championship gear
  14. As I've reflected more on this, more than anything I think this has led me to a bit of an sports fanhood existential crisis. Not that this is anything new, but this move hammers it home more than any before it. We really are just rooting for a jersey. No one that has actually worn that jersey cares about the Brewers as much as we do. Or at all. Yes they are highly competitive people. Yes they want to succeed and win any at bat, game, championship they can. But they don't actually care about the Milwaukee Brewers like we do. Not even the kid who grew up here, who was given the opportunity to lead his hometown team to their first championship, cares to stick around to keep trying to win one for his city (and he has been given many quality teams in which to work with...it's not like he's been working with the 2002 roster for the past 9 years) And I don't blame them. I get it. Good for Craig and every athlete out there for maximizing their earning potential, doing what makes them happy, etc. But it does make me feel a bit foolish as a fan to care so much about these teams, when those wearing the jersey are simply passing through town.
  15. This feels like the Braves and A’s were so fixated on Sean Murphy that the Brewers just kind of threw out some lopsided ideas to fill in the gaps…and neither of the other teams noticed or cared, as long as it made the Murphy part work.. Awesome.
  16. For the loud and ever-present "just hit the ball the other way" crowd, I'm reminded of the famous quote: In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not. We have seen the shift, in practice, for years. And we now know, in practice, how everyone in baseball - front offices, analytics experts, players, managers - have all determined the best way to attack the shift: keep pulling the ball and swinging for the fences. Bemoan it all you want, but they have done the math - based not only on theory but also years of real life data on the field - and determined that pulling the ball remains the optimal strategy to score runs, and therefore to win baseball games. And until that math changes, no one is going to just hit the ball the other way on a regular basis. That's why baseball had to do something. I'm glad that they have...in theory. We'll see how it actually plays out in practice.
  17. Lorenzo Cain says hi. But yes...I still agree with you that those deals will likely be the exception rather than the rule.
  18. My god... Of course, the classic stereotype of "I've seen girls from Milwaukee!" And how terrible it must be to be traded from Miami to Milwaukee (though yes, I get it). Followed by "I've never been to Milwaukee."
  19. Not only this, but we have 5 years of Yelich after coming off two .800+ OPS seasons in a pitchers' park, rather than 6 years of Brinson starting with the inevitable growing pains of figuring out major league pitching and MAYBE becoming a Yelich-level player for the last 3-4 years of his team control.
