  1. This, unfortunately, may be the most far-fetched prediction in the thread.
  2. The team sorely misses having a major league baseball player in the 5/6 spots in the lineup, and it doesn't help that the manager makes no attempt to remedy this. Getting Weeks back playing everyday will be a huge boost, but to continually plug two of the worst everyday players in baseball behind your MVP candidate is asinine. I know the stats don't show protection means anything when it comes to performance, but (admittedly without actually looking at the numbers) it seems hard to argue that having Casey/Yuni behind Prince hasn't severely hampered the Brewers offense since Rickie went down. What's more, there are solutions available, but the manager has not and likely will not use them, which is absolutely maddening. This should be the lineup once Rickie is healthy: HartMorgan/HairstonBraunFielderWeeksGreenHairston/GomezLucroy Unfortunately, this will be the lineup: HartMorgan/GomezBraunFielderWeeksMcGeheeBetancourtLucroy It is the job of the manager to put the team in the best possible position to win, and unfortunately ours does not do so. The pitching picked up the slack over a stellar month, but now the blemishes are showing against legitimate competition. We will probably still win the division, but I'm afraid it won't be with our best team out there.
  3. Well, can you imagine what it would look like if they came out in truly gold colored jerseys?http://www.scavengeinc.com/images/Product/medium/charades/gold-glitter-disco-shirt.jpg I know there's a difference in opinions, but I liked the "gold" Cerveceros jersey, and am excited to see what they come out in this weekend.
  4. Prince looks like a build-a-bear
  5. I get the feeling that next time Loe takes the mound there will be a couple "Straight business, pardner!" references in the IGT...
  6. McGehee and Betancourt are absolutely awful, and two of the worst everyday players in all of baseball. The fact they are hitting 5 and 6 everyday is an abomination. And for all those people who ask what other options there are, the answer is simple. ANYONE!
  7. Time to get some of the guys knocking this number down at a ridiculous pace in the thread... http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/host.madison.com/content/tncms/assets/editorial/6/f9/2ab/6f92abe2-27d0-11df-903a-001cc4c002e0.image.jpg http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lneyjh10pb1qgsza6o1_500.jpg
  8. If you don't think Bill and Brian can be critical, you're just not listening closely enough. Of course they're not going to rip anyone outright, they know who writes their checks, and quite honestly hearing someone super critical on a daily basis can get grating (see: Chris Collinsworth). But there are plenty of subtle "And Yuni swings away at the first pitch" or "Loe having a hard time finding the strike zone here...and no one warming in the bullpen" type moments that, to me, make it fairly obvious that Bill and Brian are voicing their concerns in a diplomatic manner. I really don't understand the beef with Bill and Brian that it seems a lot of people have. Listen to any other local broadcast, or even some national ones (cough, Mitch Williams, cough) and you'll find that we've got one of the best announcing duos in the business.
  9. Come on now, let's keep Illinois out of this thread http://connhome.com/69lewal.JPG http://www.cable360.net/images/articles/20780_1163695426.jpg
  10. I'm sorry but I believe this is little more than a cliche. Some rookies acclimate to the big leagues just fine, you never know til you find out. I would say that I'd much rather have a capable rookie heading into the playoffs than continue starting a .586 OPS'ing defensive liability 3rd baseman who may prevent you altogether from getting into the playoffs. See: Posey, Buster.
  11. Hey all,Just heard about Spotify, and that you need an invitation to join (or just wait for one from the site itself). Does anyone by chance have an extra invite they'd be willing to send to me?
  12. I don't know who has less confidence in winning this game right now, me or the Brewers' players. They look defeated from the moment they step onto an away field.
  13. I dislike this team more and more everyday. Terrible defense, poor situational hitting, 2 of the worst batters in major league baseball. For the first time in my life I wish I were a Pirates fan...
  14. And the defense. As much as I love Prince, I will not miss his fielding.
  15. Polanco drives in a run by HBP...whoops. Still one out, bases juiced, tied up 2-2
  16. Not sure why so many posters paint Bill and BA as such homers. Obviously they are going to be more partial than unbiased announcers, but if you pay close attention they say plenty of critical things about the Brewers. They are also not idiots and know who signs their paychecks, so it's usually something like "and Yuni swings away at the first pitch...and it's 0-1" or "Pena has had struggles against LHP this season...no activity in the Brewers bullpen, it looks like it's Loe's inning." instead of "of course Yuni would swing at that garbage" or "Loe gets killed by lefties and we have no major league LHP in our bullpen" like many here, myself included, may be thinking. If you pay close enough attention, they get frustrated and critical just like the rest of us, they just have to be judicial and professional about it.
  17. True, but when a guy is slugging .293 with a .614 OPS three months into the season, it's because he sucks.
  18. How often do we have to watch lineups with Kotsay and Betancourt consistently fail before something changes? I understand Braun is sick today, but Counsell, Boggs, Gamel, Green, Gindl, I don't know, ANYTHING!
  19. You mean these guys? Everyone was taking pictures of them, Red Sox and Brewers fans alike. They were like the Beatles.
  20. Random interesting fact I came along while researching how bad Yuni has been. He has the 5th worst OPS and 4th worst OBP of all MLB players that currently qualify for the batting title (3.1 PAs/game). First off, I was slightly surprised there are actually 3 regular players having worse years than him, and even more surprised to see one of those 3 guys is Dan Uggla, with a line of .177/.243/.325/.568. Yikes, I knew he was having a rough year, but that's awful.
  21. Not sure how everyone can so eaily blame Braun there as if e dropped a lazy fly ball right at him. You try catching a fly ball swirling in the Wrigley winds in an angled section of the ivy running backwards as an away player. Could he have caught it? Sure, but that was far from routine.
  22. Hey all, probably a bit weird to be asking about road games not involving the Brewers, but I am in SF this weekend and planning to take in the Giants game and root against the Reds. Anyone have suggestions on what to do before/after the game? It's a 1:00 start, and we're staying within walking distance of the stadium, so we're looking to hit places nearby. Thanks!
  23. So sick of this offense. What do they say about the definition of insanity? Never the slightest attempt to make productive outs, shorten up behind in the count, etc. Let's just swing for the fences on every pitch, down 0-2, first pitch, who cares. I'm done trying to blame managers or hitting coaches, because it's been constant year after year. Until the players take a look in the mirror, this all-or-nothing offense won't change, and we'll be looking at another ~80 win team sitting home in October.
  24. Deal. How about this: Prettiest lineup I've seen yet this year.
