  1. Rockies score 1 in the 7th and are up 2-1 with nobody out Later tonight--A stellar pitchers' duel in Pittsburgh when 2 starters with +8.00 ERA's battle it out
  2. lol yost back to his normal habit of attacking a reporter who asked about Riske. I wonder how ornery he'd be if he ran out of coffee
  3. Exactly my thoughts. And not only did they lose, but they lost in ugly fashion. The offense did not execute, they had 3 baserunning blunders, and we wasted a gem by Soup with about our 5th best guy out of the bullpen Your 3 sentence recap there should be placed on the front page of the Journal-Sentinel. Sums it up perfectly and saves readers from having to relive this travesty of a game
  4. just a frustrating game because I hoped last night's heroics would get them jumpstarted.
  5. well even if we win 2 out of 3 that's only a 4-3 homestand. would be nice to win friday and saturday to give us a chance for a really good homestand.
  6. How do you solve the following equation. 9 hits + 4 walks = 1 run (answer: the milwaukee brewer offense)
  7. if you lose a game 3-1 and you shouldn't be looking anywhere other than the offense. just disgusting how this unraveled.
  8. agreed. and if we go on to lose this game everyone will remember Riske and forget about the awful at bats with runners in scoring position and the poor baserunning.
  9. god we blow so many chances and they take advantage the first one they get. i'm sick to my stomach
  10. lol at uecker. he just said that late in the season you can go 0-4 or 0-5 and your average drops "a point or less"
  11. well we match up a lot better today then we did last night. Suppan has been really good this year except for one start. lets get to 6 games over .500 for the first time! Looking ahead we match up pretty well the next 4 days. It would be nice to go 3-1 with some good outings by our starters so we can have momentum (and a rested pen) for the Cubs
  12. there is no part of this matchup that looks good for the brewers, other than that hamels is a lefty. I guess Bush pitched better last time, so we have to hope he improves and keeps the walks down. Since the season has been unpredictable, and because of our depleted pen and Bush starting it seems like we should lose, I am going to predict a 6-4 Brewers victory.
  13. I like your spirit but this type of win isn't very encouraging. Not when the bullpen badly needed a blow. But at least we had some offense.
  14. Hey we are 12-8 when we could easily be 8-12. boy the cubs are just blowing through everyone. Hopefully the road treats them badly when they finally leave the friendly confines tomorrow
  15. would have been nice to have that option but billy hall can't bunt. it would have been nice if he could have at least pushed the ball the other way
  16. where is the offense? I love hearing about how awesome Bill Hall is at going the other way in batting practice. then when there is a runner on third with one out he tries to pull a pitch like that. Looks like they gave up in the bottom of the ninth too. We better get something started because Chicago is showing no signs of letting up.
  17. See: Papelbon, Jonathan How many times was someone else used last year in a save situation when Papelbon was healthy? Maybe Papelbon told Francona he wasn't able to go. maybe because he had some history as his manager, he knew Papelbon might be gassed. And again, there is no proof that gagne was worn down.
  18. What difference does it make that Gagne makes $10 million for one year? How would it be any different if he only made $5 million? I guess I just don't see how him making eight figures makes the situation any different. Gagne shouldn't have been used 4 days in a row. I don't care what Gagne says he feels like, it's the managers job to see through that crap. I mean, all off season we heard about the new bullpen and how many guys could finish games if need be. Well, why not try it out when Gagne has pitched 3 days in a row in April? I'm not a Yost basher, I think he gets a lot of undue crap on this board, but not for his actions yesterday. He, not Gagne, gets the blame from me. Yost asked Gagne if he could go. He has yet to show he could not handle the workload of 4 days of closing games. he is our closer. He was put in during a situation where closers are always put in. Yet Yost gets bashed. I mean, what is the percentage of times a save situation presents itself (to begin an inning nonetheless) and a closer isn't used? Especially when Yost had no reason to believe he couldn't handle the job, other than that he had been used the past few days. And also: we still don't even know IF he was worn down. Maybe he just gave up a few long fly balls that carried out of the park. but no its easier to bash Yost than consider it.
  19. i think its obvious that Yost is the reason that Weeks isn't performing.
  20. But if we had someone other than Yost we'd be 18-0. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Shame on you for settling for anything less http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif. I'm going to start my hire tony la russa campaign for 2009 so we can have the division wrapped up by June 15th.
  21. I have been a long time lurker here and have read many of your posts, so i respect what you say about this and I believe that you could approach it this way. However, I think that almost everyone else would have roasted Yost no matter who it was that lost us the game. I just think that with Ned, its starting to become lose-lose with every decision. Maybe that is just indicative of the current culture of baseball fandom, with message boards and comprehensive stats at our fingertips. I don't believe Ned Yost is the second coming of Tony La Russa. I just also think that in a town that is starving for October playoffs, he's getting second guessed at every turn. Oh well, I guess the good thing about all of this is that we are still 11-7 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. 11-7 right now makes me very happy. Hopefully the home cooking will make the bats come alive.
  23. Why do we all assume Gagne was gassed? Isn't it possible he just made a few bad pitches?
  24. i'll agree my comment about thinking people was worded incorrectly. i apologize for the wording because I shouldn't have been so blunt about it what i meant to say more concerns the piling on of Yost-bashers. I don't understand how anyone could think that this could have played out differently. It is standard protocol that the closer comes in for that situation. And being that this was the first time Gagne was pitching this many days in a row, Yost didn't have anything else to go on besides his word that he was ready to go that day. I guess I just can't see how under the circumstances, Yost should have done anything else. And I do believe that if he had gone to someone other than Gagne he would have been roasted.
