    Will it matter? Do you think they're giving Parra a realistic shot for a rotation spot, or is he penciled in for AAA just to save his arm? Because if it is a truly open competition, he'd make it. But I do understand the arm-saving aspect of it for Parra. Hopefully only for a few months, though.

    Still averaging about an error a game in ST, athough some of those are from guys who won't be playing much. But 2 more today from our starting infield is not the type of improvement I was hoping for. I do think our D will be better once the regular season rolls around, and I'm definitely excited about it. The Cameron signing is looking better and better, just for the improvement in defense alone (moving Braun and Hall). Edit: Chalk up another error, this one on Prince.

    I was just wondering if he was your man-crush, because he is a goofy looking dude. On another topic, I got shivers last night listening to Ueck while it was dark outside, because it felt like a regular season game. Man, I can't wait! Meche getting hit now.

    I was actually thinking about that today. Doesn't he hold the all-time NCAA record for season batting average, or did he just win a couple of batting titles? Either way, yeah, he was a heckuva college (and minors) player. I'm just anxious to see what he'll do now that he's healthy. And you have to give him major props for adjusting his game to the leadoff position, one he wasn't really suited to coming up (more a #3). The guy is an OBP machine!

    For whatever reason, I was never a huge Corey Hart fan. He was definitely overshadowed by all the other young guys, and for some reason his height scared me. Last season definitely changed my mind! He does everything well, and I try to make other non-Brewer fans aware of just how good he actually is.

    I think if the Pirates had a bit better offense, they might be able to creep out of last place. I still feel that Pujols will be shut down before the All-Star break, and that'll mean season over for the Cards. Brewers Cubs Reds 'Stros Cards Pirates is how I see it.

    Nah, I must have been dazzled by his 5 RBI's on 4 hits. I was a bit hammered when I typed that last night, so I didn't really check the stats. Neither guy has played enough to judge yet (Dillon with 10 whole at-bats).

    MLB audio seems to really slow down my computer this year. Anyone else notice that, or is it just my full memory? (of course, I have the Badgers' game on now too, but I noticed it before.)

    It kinda sounds like Mark A. is on the side of Prince in this whole "contract disagreement". A few words from the JS article about it: Noting that clubs have the upper hand until players are eligible for arbitration, Attanasio said, "The system is what it is. It's very difficult on younger players, especially younger players who really produce. "Prince did something that nobody in the history of baseball has done. If I was Prince, I would feel bad, too. But that is the system. It's the MLB system. It's not my system." Attanasio conceded that the Brewers could have given Fielder more money but said the system that general manager Doug Melvin has in place is an objective one. "This is the first time we've had a case like this one," Attanasio said. "We need to continue to look at what we're doing to make sure it's fair. "I think, for the most part, Doug's system has worked for us. Other teams put something out there and if it's not accepted, they penalize the player and cut their (last) offer. We're absolutely not doing that." Sounds like something an owner would say (as opposed to the GM who deals with the contract and system). I actually like the gist of it. Sure we should have stuck to the system, but at least Prince knows Mark may not like it, and thinks Prince deserves more. Shows that the club isn't just sticking it to him. You can tell Mark is laying the inroads for future talks.

    As has been pointed out, when he's bad, he's REALLY bad. But the guy was like 3rd in the majors in holds last year, and it seems like he might actually be improving so far this spring with his mechanical adjustment. I think a lot of it is Ned knowing when to pull him. As soon as he walks a guy to start an inning, I believe you gotta yank him. Of course, then you're messing with his confidence, which is the worst thing to do with T-bow.

    I'm a bit tipsy right now, but typing on the computer actually tends to sober me up a bit. Although there is a lot of hitting the "backspace" bar.

    Wow, might be giving Prince a bit too much credit. He's no Hall of Famer yet, and it's way too early to think he'll challenge for the all-time home run title. I do think his body type does kind of endure him to folks, but it will also play against him as he get older. I don't rip on him for being fat as a lot of non-Brewer fans do (he is just a huge guy), but as he ages, it'll be hard for him to no let his weight affect his play. He is the face of the franchise, no doubt. But we can't just pay him a ton of money to stay a Brewer. We have to be smart on how we spend our money, small-market economics still rule.

    I did think Dillon had a great chance to make the team in the offseason, but seeing the way Kapler has been playing, I'm not so sure anymore.

    It seems Mark A. is still quite interested in signing Prince to a long-term deal. That sounds pretty obvious, but the fact that he's still pressing it is good news. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/03/07/attanasio-wants-long-term-deal-with-fielder.aspx I really think Prince's situation will be different than guys like ARod who bolt for money when they get the chance. I'm sure he loves Milwaukee and the team, with all his close buddies playing alongside him. Not saying he'd take a "hometown discount", but I think it's a higher than normal chance he'd be receptive to a long-term deal, despite what Boras would say.

    Sounds like he'll use the last few weeks in ST to figure out who will fill in for Cameron. It depends on who makes the bench (Kapler's playing good so far), because we could either use TGJ in center, or shift Hart to Center and have Kapler/Gross combo man right field. For now, who knows?
