  1. Looks like he's officially on the DL now. Eligible to return June 29, in the middle of the Brewers series. Doubt he'll get 6 hits in 2 games, so it's looking like it may happen on the road more and more now.
  2. Yep, totally agree. That is Roenicke's thinking too, which is sad. Having McGehee behind Prince is just taking the bat out of his hands right now. There's no reason that McGehee should be hitting in front of Hart right now. Roenicke says he still wants McGehee protected, but I'd just put Lucroy behind him then if it's such a big deal. Just go Hart McGehee Lucroy Betancourt.
  3. Lol, I love the early digs. Good stuff. Sadly, we may all be right and Roenicke will find a way to piss us off again. The only way I won't criticize him is if Morgan is playing, McGehee is either not playing or out of the 5 hole, Hart is hitting 5th, and Betancourt is on the bench or hitting 8th at least.
  4. There isn't any realistic scenario where trading Fielder would help the team this year. I'm with RockCo on this one. There's no way I'd even entertain the idea unless we are way out of the race, which won't happen.
  5. Looks like Jeter may go on the DL. He'd be eligible to return just in time for the series against the Brewers. But he'd need 6 hits against us to get it at home, before going on the road for 6. Don't see that happening.
  6. Nobody in this thread is saying anything like that. Straw men burn quickly, no? The point of this thread is that Nieves is horrible and a lot of things could be fixed by calling up Kottaras. The point is that Lucroy should not be playing this much, as Kottaras or even Rivera could be a competent backup catcher who starts 2 days a week. Yep, that pretty much sums it all up.
  7. Nieves has 7 hits in 50 ab's this year. Kottaras had 7 hits in 26 ab's in his short time here. That shows how pathetic Nieves is.
  8. I'm really sick of listening to Roenicke's excuses for over-using Loe, and leaving him in to pitch to guys he shouldn't pitch to. There's no reason to not use Braddock there, especially when Loe is pitching his 3rd day in a row. It's pure stupidity. I'm so sick of these defined roles he has for guys.
  9. I get that McGehee has had some bad luck, but Hart needs to be in the 5 spot simply because he is producing and McGehee isn't. McGehee isn't getting hits, so teams won't pitch to Fielder.
  10. I want Roenicke to explain to me why McGehee is still hitting in front of Hart. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
  11. Crap, Braun shouldn't even bother stealing until RRR takes McGehee out of the 5 spot.
  12. Yeah, they are literally playing with a lineup half from AAA Iowa. Lol.
  13. Man, the Cubs lineup vs. LHP is laughable right now.
  14. I'd probably go with neither happening, but Yuni is the best bet there.
  15. Nope, just sitting because Kotsay is 3-10 against Dempster. So stupid.
  16. Here's the lineup... Weeks 4Kotsay 8Braun 7Fielder 3McGehee 5Hart 9Betancourt 6Nieves 2Wolf 1 No surprises for me. Kotsay had a good game so Roenicke throws him in there again. I'd rather see Morgan. McGehee still hitting 5th for some reason. Betancourt playing again. Nieves is horrible. Overall, not great.
  17. Agreed. Not sure why Roenicke backed down on moving McGehee out of the 5 spot. I think that would help him, and would give him a chance to break out of it in a less important spot in the lineup. There's no reason why he should hit in front of Hart right now.
  18. Man that was an awesome game to be at! The crowd was electric! Especially for that Fielder HR and Gomez catch! First place Brewers! Woo!!!
  19. I can dig those lineups.
  20. I would love to see Gamel called up, but if they give Braun and Weeks days off he only would play one game. If they call him up he should play all 3, whether it's at 1B or DH. Also, swapping him for Saito after the series won't work, because we'd need him again for the Yankees series and that would be less than 10 days later. Saito got hurt again anyway, so I doubt that happens.
  21. I think that all of those but Reyes are realistic trade targets. Hardy is probably pricing himself out of our reach as well though. I would be fine with any of them, because they are all better than Betancourt.
  22. All I can say is that it could be a lot worse. Gomez and Nieves could be playing. It's not horrible I guess. I'd just rather see Hart hitting 2nd, but oh well. I just really hate playing by the numbers with career stats like this. Kotsay is still Kotsay, no matter how well he hit Westbrook in the past.
  23. Weeks 4 Kotsay 8 Braun 7 Fielder 3 McGehee 5 Hart 9 Betancourt 6 Lucroy 2 Marcum 1 Back to the old Roenicke tactics. Kotsay playing in CF for some reason and batting second. Betancourt back in the lineup. I don't necessarily have a problem with either playing, but I'd rather see Kotsay in RF, and I'd at least like to see Hart 2 and Kotsay 6.
