  1. If the play was called correctly, it would be 3-2 count, one out and bases empty. Anything can still happen in that inning.
  2. Would be nice but it seems like this is the Cubs lucky year as every scrub they call up produces even though they have more or less no upside other than Fox.1) If the Cubs were lucky, they wouldn't have so many injuries.2) Scales, Blanco, Freel, Hoffpauir, Baker, Samardzija, and Patton have all been terrible. .
  3. I know Bradley isn't having a good start, but he's still has a .320 OBP despite his terrible BA. It's a good sign for him.
  4. You would have to listen to said donkey while you wait for Braun's segment. Isn't that bad enough? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. I don't know how it compares to his English, but Soriano speaks Japanese fairly well.
  6. Using "100 years" as a logical reason is silly. Last years team is irrelevant seeing as the Cubs have as many wins before September as all season last year. The Cubs are 4-2 against Arizona and swept them when Arizona was playing their best and had the best record in baseball. You can say they missed Webb (they beat Haren). But Arizona missed Zambrano, faced Dempster once, and Harden once. "Lou's lack of success" actually makes me agree with you. 5 game series are full of randomness and luck. No such thing as a bold prediction because in a short series no one is THAT much of a favourite over another. So yeah, the 01 Mariners proves this. But to Lou's credit, he does have a WS ring with the underdog Reds.
  7. Yes, I understand that Sox, Brewers and Cards fans feel that way. I still didn't need an full page article to tell me that. For half the salary, I'd turn in this article and be just as informative. "The Cubs have fans all across America but White Sox, Cardinals, and Brewers fans hate the Cubs and Cubs fans." English isn't my first or second language so I do need a proofreader though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Would it increase the chance of one and two game series or any other problems? If not, I'd prefer interleague being apart of the normal schedule instead of the month long circus.
  9. As a Cubs fan, I have fun with the rivalries. So I like the Cubs hate. With that said, what a worthless article. A lot of words to just say Brewers, Sox and Cards fans don't like the Cubs.
  10. Gagne http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. What's wrong with that? Right or wrong, who hasn't wanted to take a swing at A.J.? :P http://images.mccoveychronicles.com/images/admin/aj_mot3.jpg
  12. I don't like this cliche. People always say it about sports but there is little evidence that any of these sports were invented by children or intended solely for children. Compare the number of children playing baseball to adults. Regardless of the game's origin, it is still a guy with a stick trying to hit a ball thrown by another and 9 people chasing said ball around the yard. It seems to be child like activity to me. Something that does not accomplish much and does not matter in the end. Thus, not something to take so seriously, which was my point to the nicknames. It's just for fun.
  13. Grown men playing a children's game. It's not such a big deal is it? Name a nickname that sounds mature and adult. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. He's been on a 95-100 pitch count all year while averaging 5 - 6 innings. So he wasn't really pulled early.
  15. Or not........ Way to get a good look ump Good look at what? He was in a perfect position on the winning run.
  16. By the way, thank you PitchLeague for the kind and rational PM. I belong to many forums and many mods I've seen can get so defensive over any kind of criticism or even questioning.(though I started the thread out of surprise more than anything) So props to him for being positive. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=13934 Mojo, jinxes and superstitions do not exist except in jokes. Locking a good discussion, or interesting topic over it seems a bit silly. Not that I'm personally interested in that thread, I've just never seen that in all the forums I've ever been in.
  18. If you want astounding look at Arizona last year. 90-72 record; 79-83 pythag record. That's a lot of close wins and blowout losses.
  19. They have lost eight games at Gum Field this year, including four times to the Brewers. I know you probably weren't literally seeking an answer, but at least there's kind of a silver lining. Of course, it seems like they've been 'stuck on' 8 home losses for like a month. May 17th against the Pirates to be exact. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Meh, I'm just saying it's not hard to believe Edmonds has another mediocre season left in him.
  21. Edmonds' numbers with the Cubs are about the same as his 2007 number. I'm not justifying Edmonds over Pie, but I don't know why people thought he would hit .178 all season.
  22. Especially for one team. Only 13 players. Lots of teams don't even have a 2000 hitter for them.
  23. You tell me. What do you consider "superstar"? Lee hit .271/.379/.508 27 HR 92 RBIs the year he was traded. Nice numbers, but not my opinion of superstar. Why would I mention Soriano? It was said the Cubs threw "wads of cash" at him. And they did. Nothing to correct or argue.
  24. For what it's worth, $10M for an expected average closer (who in his prime, as the greatest closer ever, signed for 2/19M) is more"buying a championship" behavior than 12M/yr (6 this year) for an expected .400 OBP 25HR RF with great defense. Obviously the Cubs spend more money in total, but I don't see how the Fukudome deal is so out of line. Neither Ramirez nor Lee were superstars nor did they have a major salary attached (5/$31.5M combined). But yeah, they were good young players for nothing. Now, so what? If there's a Bill Hall for Nate McLouth deal on the table do you feel guilty and want the Brewers to throw in more players to make it even? You mentioned Dusty Baker. That's enough evidence that a big name manager and big price tag means very little. Everything else..meh. The Cubs have money, so they SHOULD spend it. Better the money go towards players than the owner's pockets.
  25. As a Cubs fan, I still care what the Brewers do. Looking at the September schedule, I've been saying that if the Brewers are within 6 with just 13 to play, I'll still be nervous. So 7 GB with over a 104 games left doesn't make me very comfortable.
