  1. Picking up right where we left off kicking FGs on drives where you absolutely should have TDs.
  2. Run this 4 times if necessary. Need to make a statement on the OL here.
  3. Looks like the 3rd unit in mid August thus far.
  4. Wow. A play in the secondary. Unbelievable.
  5. Can't blame the Brewers for doing what they do. MLB is broken beyond repair.
  6. Nobody returns better at 33 after back surgery...
  7. The Brewers are arguably one of the best-run franchises in American sports over the last decade all things considered, so I won't log this as a complaint, but my gut feeling on this team is that it just isn't ever going to be good enough to really beat a couple a top dogs into October. They always win but when they have to go toe-to-toe with the elite it just seems like they can't quite get over the hump.
  8. Won't say it wasn't close but I don't get why replay exists if that stands. When you slow it down it seemed pretty clear he got back.
  9. The Cardinals will be a thorn in our side.
  10. We are who I think we are. A top 6-10 team, not a top 5 team. Baseball being what it is, you can sometimes win it being #8 though.
  11. Counsell's entire "raising the bar" schtick was hilarious and stupid to begin with. There was a rare opportunity to cash out big time and he got it. Not many ballplayers can continue being paid like one into their 50s. That's what this was about. He doesn't give a mouse fart about getting some other manager a raise.
  12. I would agree, but that was never my argument though it was someone else's. I think it is definitely the case though that the playoffs used to be all but a waste of time to watch. You pretty much knew the CF would be 1 vs 2 or 3. It's not quite like that anymore. The last few teams in are usually not very good, but I don't think teams obsess over HC like it felt like they used to.
  13. You can see a break from the trend in recent history though. It goes from happening just about every year to 2 out of the last 6. One of those being a Covid bubble year and both of them being against a 5th and 8th seed. There has definitely been a shift in the NBA where teams are placing less emphasis on their seed and are content to just qualify as 3 or 4 if it means resting their stars. That didn't used to happen.
  14. The East playoffs were terrible. I think Boston would have made it anyway, but the injuries made the whole thing a waste of time. It appears BOS will cakewalk, but Dallas seems to have that hot hand going for them.
  15. My nights are always booked up so I was thinking about watching this one, then got exhausted figuring out the most efficient way to watch it and flipped the radio on again.
  16. It's definitely a more recent trend though. I think load management has changed a lot. The season is just too long with too many back-to-backs to be overly concerned with seed. In the NBA I grew up watching there were usually 2-4 teams that you pretty much knew would be in the CFs and they rarely finished below 2. It's still sort of like that, but seems much more common that they end the season in 3rd or 4th than 1st, as well as low seeds moving past 1 round which was unheard of in the East for many years. The Bucks finishing 3rd wouldn't have been a big deal, it was more that they just never looked good at any point. In a single game maybe, but they just never seemed to gel. There was something off about this team all year long and I think everyone was hoping they'd hit another gear later on, but it never happened.
  17. I find it kind of mystifying that Horst is any kind of hot item. His "plan" has been have Giannis and get a bunch of breaks one year. Yeah, there's some stuff they got right (Tucker, Holiday) but for the most part the development of the roster has been horrendous.
  18. The injuries stunk, but all in all it feels like a fitting end to the season. I can't really say I'm confident they win if Giannis had played. They just never got going this year. Kept waiting for things to gel and it just never happened.
  19. I mean this is it really. It'd be hard to see them losing if they force a Game 7. Definitely more plausible if Lillard can actually play.
  20. Is Giannis looming? Why do I feel like he's done for the year and they just won't say it.
  21. Unpopular opinion but the age-old tradition of throwing at a guy because he did something naughty is one of the dumbest things in sports. They rarely care that they've been hit and I'll never understand how giving the opponent a free runner is some cool, good thing to do. Ejection was equally dumb though.
  22. I doubt it. Going up 3-1 changed the urgency for Indiana. They'll put them away quietly in 6.
  23. The big three is too old. There's almost zero possibility of those guys all being available for the NBA's 2-month playoff run. Their tradable assets wouldn't net enough win-now pieces to make a difference. They are a mess. They needed something big to happen like Marjon shocking the world and becoming an all-star level player. I give them credit for swinging on Dame and I don't think running it back with Holiday would have been any better, but it's not going to work.
