  1. If he makes the mental wellbeing argument it will be difficult to turn him down. He would most definitely sue at that point and it's probably just a can of worms the NCAA doesn't want to deal with when they can just grant the waiver on a pretty low profile player on a national scale.
  2. The waivers are crap shoots. The fact that he did leave, makes me think someone in his camp already considered this and feels confident they have grounds to get one.
  3. The waivers are granted quite often. No idea what he's going to argue but I think it's fairly obvious he was banking on getting one. I'd be all for him getting to play UW. It would just be fun.
  4. I had cable back in the day but always split the bill with a roommate, it was bundled with our internet. When I got married I had it for a year and never have had it since. It's just filler. I watch nothing on ESPN and just wouldn't be sitting down to watch local sports every night anyway. I don't miss it. It's one of those things that you have to get used to not having, but then you don't want it again. There's tremendous variety so it gets hard to compare apples and oranges. I pay $70/mo for Internet, two cell lines, Disney+ and Netflix. Internet is $19, weird service that most people probably don't have access to but it works, two lines at Republic Wireless are $20 each with a BYOD plan. That's all I need. Internet for work and streaming but nothing hardcore. Too many shows that I want to watch but can't. When I had cable I'd browse for something so I could watch TV. Now it's only when I want to watch it or I find something else to do. I probably save a lot more than most would but it's not always but straight savings. It can be about trimming excess and being productive with your time.
  5. I like it and it's fine. I like it more than the original one, but 80% of people will never notice if you're wearing old stuff. Which is good maybe?
  6. Who is saying the refs were paid? ~40% of the fans of every team that loses every game. The Packers/Patriots/Steelers hold on every play etc etc.
  7. That doesn't really work anymore. Most of them only allow you to view live sports when connected via the Internet service that's part of the subscription.
  8. Agree on delay of game. That is very rarely called, and the TV clock is usually off 1 second from the stadium clock. They let that go all year, and I think I've heard in the past they are instructed to give them a second. There is just absolutely never a game that goes by without one side convinced the refs were "paid." It's a byproduct of 60 replays from 100 angles.
  9. I wound up using Reddit even when I paid for Sling. It never buffered as much as Sling did and I wound up just pulling the Brewers up on my laptop 90% of the time vs. firing Sling up on the TV. I had this nice vision of relaxing on the couch watching games from start to finish and of course it never happened that way.
  10. I turned it on with 8:50 left so I thought it was great.
  11. Sherman is one of the most overrated players of the last decade. He is a glorified Al Harris, a good but not great corner who had the benefit Harris did not of playing on some stacked defenses that masked his flaws. That and his personality/mouth kept him in the spotlight. There's no way he should be as revered as he is when he can't match up and insists on sticking on one side of the field, oddly enough, just like Al Harris. His comeback from an ACL is admirable and I wish the Packers had signed him when he hit FA because I'm not saying he's bad. But he punches about two weight classes up and every fan knows who he is. Just saw that Watkins said "shout out to Davante Adams" in post-game. Identical move that Adams burned him on in the NFCCG.
  12. FSN pulled out of Sling last year. I dropped it the next day. I was barely using it anyway though. YouTubeTV seems to be the popular choice but at that price point it loses all appeal to me.
  13. Last year's was pretty much universally panned as one of the most boring ever. I think it was tied after 3-3 heading into the 4th but I don't remember it being particularly great. Most of my adult life the Super Bowl has been pretty good though. I grew up on a lot of NFC-dominated blowouts and when the Packers lost the tide turned and they've been mostly competitive since then.
  14. Nice to see Sherman get burned to lose the game. Not a particularly likable team. Glad KC won.
  15. If you had a way to sell tickets offline or even via Facebook that would still work, and you'd make a lot more money.
  16. I don't know the real reason, but powder blue is something IMO that looks great on a fan and kind of dated on a uniform. The pinstripe is my least favorite uniform too.
  17. $60 million talks, that's "support" no matter what the semantics are. They stepped up with a lucrative offer when Miller didn't. I was simply saying I'm not nostalgic about the Miller name as it relates to the Brewers. They slapped their name on the building for some money. I realize a lot of people are up in arms about it but it may as well have been called Burger King Field. We just traded one corp for another. And frankly, it's not like they were historically successful in it either. I just don't see it as a hallowed place where the name holds a lot of meaning, but I guess most of the fans feel that way.
  18. You think AmFam ponied up to "support" the team? They ponied up to support their pocketbooks, and no other reason. It's all about the $$. I know how sponsorships work. It's the same thing. Supporting the team and a lucrative partnership aren't mutually exclusive. I can tell you though as someone who works for one these larger local brands that it's not for "no other reason." That's just not true. These companies absolutely do care about the partnerships they engage with and one as reputable and wholesome as the Brewers is a good fit for most of them. There are reasons these partnerships get formed that go beyond money even if that is the biggest one. It's not the only one.
  19. Happen to check after seeing the Nike comment and Kohl's.com appears to have quite a bit of new logo merch. That's a very recent change.
  20. You lose a year of eligibility/can't compete for a year. You can still leave and get another scholarship, but can't play for a year. Unless the school releases you, I think, or you win an appeal. Both of those things are fairly common since the schools really have no interest in guys that don't want to be there. If you were stuck with that though, it's asking an awful lot of another program to give TWO guys schollies while they can't compete.
  21. It's pretty short compared to something like Lambeau where the uproar over a name change would make a lot more sense, and accusing the team of "selling out" would actually be what's happening. I also found it funny that the most popular place to drink in the stadium for the last several years has been the spot that sells no Miller Products -- I'm not even sure how they were allowed to do that unless someone tells me Miller owns those breweries which wouldn't surprise me.. I appreciate that Miller was a natural fit in the beginning but I don't feel a ton of nostalgia tied to the name. Maybe if I never went to County Stadium, I would, but I don't think the Miller name resonates locally the way it did even 20 years ago, not after joining its name with Coors and being purchased by SAB. I think a lot of people just view it as another enormous conglomerate. I'm happy they got a good local sponsor and at least refrained from calling it Brewers Baseball presented by American Family at the Fields of Milwaukee County.
  22. I really don't know why anyone feels tied to "Miller" Park. The place is not that old and it's a crappy beer that had no interest in extending the financial commitment. It is not like it's called Selig Park or County Stadium and has historical significance. I think it's funny that people complain about the team "not spending money" but will wholeheartedly commit to a naming rights agreement where the brand has essentially said "Nah we're good, don't want to help out anymore." I realize that it's much more surface level than that for 95% of people, but whatever. AmFam ponied up to support the local team. I'll get behind the name of the place that wants to be a part of baseball in Milwaukee.
  23. I was speaking more to entertainment value. It was a sleeper after halftime. They were dead into the 3rd and never made it interesting.
