  1. Melvin squashed this over on Haudricourt's blog. Oh well.
  2. "What about Gamel, Escobar, and Weeks for Dcab and Brob."
  3. I'd trade Rickie Weeks for Brian Roberts' jersey.
  4. No it wasn't. It was a response to fans who seem to think that TH's job entails watching games from his living room and then writing a 500-word report on them. People don't have a lick of knowledge about what his job actually entails. Most people couldn't do it. They wouldn't do it after they did it for a week and saw the paycheck. Not an excuse for him doing a bad job (I don't think he does). It was a reality check for people who are under the impression that TH is just a very lucky Brewers fan. It's not like that.
  5. At this point Doug can tell me his cat told him to do it.
  6. So are you guys saying if we protest loudly enough for Yost's firing they might listen?
  7. Sorry, but I object. I don't think McCalvy does a bad job, but he's basically a Brewers mouthpiece. Half his articles are about the Brewers running around town doing charity events. That's not a knock on Adam, but his job has limitations. He can't really write the best stuff when it's being published by Brewers.com. "We all saw the scolding/tantrum Ned put forward after the Badger Blogger story. That is going to have a huge effect on how hard TH is on Yost in his articles." Now this, I agree with 100%. Tom's rant on Homer's show was completely ridiculous and unprofessional. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, Tom ranted about people ignoring the fact that Yost is a human, and went on a tirade about credibility: Tom, YOU MADE THAT STORY WHAT IT WAS! Heed your own advice!
  8. I was just addressing the the idea that fans always seem to have ... "His job is to watch the Brewers and talk to the players! It's so awesome!" People think it's some dream. I understand that people don't care. That wasn't really my point. I was just saying, all thing considered, I think Tom does an admirable job when it comes to getting information.
  9. I got a couple of these. I would hang onto them. The Brewers aren't doing that well and he's out with an ACL. He's got so much talent that I really think when he gets back to 100% and the team is playing well, these are going to be a hot commodity. It's his first bobble. Sorry, I know this isn't what you were looking for but it's just my opinion ... to me this is a classic case of a bobble you should just hang onto. Sky is the limit for Yo...if the team was in first place and he was healthy I think this would be a pretty crazy bobble. I just can't see the value here going anywhere but up.
  10. WI, here's my take on it: People will call TH biased because when they do it, they're angry with Yost. People seek out opinions which support their own beliefs. Psychologists will say as much. Brewers blow a game, they think Yost made a mistake, they want to visit JSOnline and see a "professional" or "expert" reinforce their opinion. When they go there and see something that isn't an outright call for Yost's head, suddenly the writer is "defending him." It's the same reason people refer to certain outlets as having a liberal or conservative bias. Not that they are without bias, but we are much more likely to call something biased when it does not support our views. The reality is, sometimes our views are wrong. Sometimes, the message isn't biased, we are; it's realistic and we can't handle it. I'm not defending any news outlet or TH in this post, just giving you my view of things. With most of the crowd, TH, or any other writer, can't win. He's damned if he does or doesn't.
  11. Tom does a great job. This will fall on deaf ears, but people really have no concept of how much stress is involved in his job. He's passionate about what he does, and he does it well. Stooge? Absolutely not ... but if you want a stooge, talk to Tom's editor.
  12. I actually think if there isn't a vast improvement by the end of the season, Yost will be fired. If they don't make the playoffs, I can see it happening.
  13. I hope the Cubs win. It will be even more frustrating if we blew an opportunity to gain a game (which we did with STL, they also lost tonight). Maybe if we stay in the WC hunt and Chicago runs away with the division, Edgar will be fired sooner.
  14. I've defended him for a very long time, but there has to be a line. Enough is enough. At some point, something is his fault. This is exactly what I feared coming into this series. I didn't want to see us back on the road, but we had this game won. This is exactly how I fear us undoing the six game winning streak ... we blow out a fart like this and get swept this weekend, then drop 2 or 3 in Houston.
  15. He can do right, he just does too much wrong.
  16. He's got to go at this point.
  17. I've never been on the firing Yost wagon but this is ridiculous. This is inexcusable, beyond explanation. He single handedly killed a winning streak and all the momentum we had. This was the final straw.
  18. I'm just going to pick mine up when I go to the Rickie Weeks day.
  19. Oh, I'd also like to add that, I don't think the Brewers problem last year or this year was relying on the HR ... their problem is hitting so many solo home runs. Too often, the bases were empty when the big boppers were at the plate. You CAN live by the home run, you just have to have high OBP.
  20. My problem with this is that probably every team has a much better record when they hit bombs versus when they don't ... I'm not sure what this proves.
  21. I don't think he was looking for both ... but Braun's retro is hitting some pretty high marks. There's one up for $80 right now.
  22. I don't really follow MU, but I think her work with the Packers has been just fine.
