  1. According to this story, the name surfaced at the Metrodome over the weekend. They classify it as a longshot, but it's encouraging to hear about ANY interest in the Shrekster. www.startribune.com/blogs...sen/?p=218
  2. www.jsonline.com/watch/?w...7&id=26112 Needs more tutoring, apparently. (updated thread title - hawing)
  3. Baseball Prospectus (I think) noted at the time of the signing that Suppan, with a high GB/FB ratio, benefited quite a bit from the Cardinals' infield defense and that it was unlikely that he was going to match his Cardinal numbers with the Brewers behind him. I think the team valued his health, personality and postseason experience more than any production they expected to get.
  4. I suspect HP5 is Harry Potter 5
  5. It's official now, Gwynn called up. www.jsonline.com/watch/?w...7&id=26013
  6. meh. I guess if they take Mench off our hands that would be a good deal for us, but I'm not sure KC needs more mediocre OFs any more than we do.
  7. I saw a game there in '81.. Fernando vs. Gaylord Perry. Got Reggie Smith's autograph. Even if I could remember anything that might have been useful to you, it would probably be way out of date anyway. I remember thinking the Diamond Vision scoreboard was just about the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
  8. Patrick isn't even on his show today, apparently the "big announcement" has been delayed until after the holiday.
  9. I should clarify.. the D-List guys knew about the R. Griffith facet of the rule and actually referred to Griffith. They did not seem to be aware of any way in which Yi could re-enter the draft, however. They finally concluded that it couldn't be true because the Bucks would never have drafted the guy if there was any possibility that they would lose his rights. They apparently underestimate the Bucks.
  10. Someone e-mailed the D-List this morning about that rule and they didn't seem to know anything about it either. I've seen it referred to in various places, however.

  12. One run in, two on, Wise coming in to face Lee.
  13. Just got it from another message board, the guy didn't say where he heard it.
  14. First trade rumor I've heard: Resign Mo; Mo/Yi/Danny G to LAL, Kobe goes to Dallas, Devin Harris and Josh Howard to Milwaukee.
  15. Yi will not be appearing in Milwaukee any time soon. He has two exhibitions in Texas this weekend with the national team and then will be in Vegas next week, reportedly.
  16. This morning Chad Ford said that he thought Memphis was conflicted; West apparently wants Conley, but the new GM prefers Brewer. Ford, at least, thought that West would win this battle.
  17. The guys on ESPN radio (Gammons, Olney) have suggested today that the White Sox WILL trade a starting pitcher, but it might be Contreras or Vazquez.. Olney seemed to think the Mets would be interested in Contreras, who has another year left on his deal and would not cost a prime prospect.
  18. Why would Mason come back here after calling Larry Harris a "snake"? Steve Heywood on 1510AM said last week that there's no chance Mason would sign with Milwaukee. People are down on Williams because he epitomizes the no-defense, jack-it-up mindset of the current roster.
  19. How would that Williams deal work? We can't sign him until July 1, right? We'd draft who Atlanta wanted and they'd draft who we wanted and the trade would be completed next month?
  20. They said something on Mike & Mike this morning about the new ownership group of the Tribune being unwilling to take on Junior's salary, effectively nixing any deal. I'm not sure what their source was.
  21. They were already over the limit when James declared. I think they were probably expecting James to go pro after this season. I think the kid from Notre Dame Prep they signed in November 2006 (Saunders?) put them over the limit.
  22. This leaves Marquette with too many scholarship players... the seemingly annual transfer out of the program hasn't happened this offseason. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
