  1. Just heard on the radio that Omar Minaya had conversations with Vargas' agent.
  2. I was listening to the Score yesterday afternoon and I believe that their opinions generally mirror those of the national media. They dismissed the Brewers bullpen as a pile of garbage and said that there isn't one legitimate major league closer on the roster. Jesse Rogers said that the Cubs' pen is much better than the Brewers and that's the reason the Cubs will eventually overtake the Brewers and win the division. The national media in general sees a bullpen full of rehab projects and dismisses it out of hand.
  3. Doug Russell said this morning that Kruger was mentioned last night by an alum who is currently with an NBA team. There are rumors that Sean Miller was seen in Milwaukee last night, according to Sparky on 1250.
  4. I think Hendrickson is now in the Tampa organization http://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.htm?ID=7019
  5. Homer just read the e-mail and told Mitch to ask Hardicourt about it to see if it's got any substance or is "just another wacky e-mail".
  6. Simmons will apparently be on with Homer this evening around 5:40.
  7. Kohl has evidently decided that Harris is done here and he's not going to saddle the next GM with any of Harris' moves. He won't let the new GM make his own moves, either, so I'm not sure what difference it will make.
  8. Randolph's contract was dubbed one of the most untradeable in the league before he went to New York. I don't think it's much more tradeable now.
  9. Collins will want no part of this mess. My prediction: Kohl will refuse to eat Coach K's contract and will end up hiring some assistant front office guy from another team who agrees to Kohl's terms only because he's eager to get a GM position on his resume. Futility continues.
  10. I believe that Texas Tech and Knight had already established several years ago that Knight's son would be his eventual successor.
  11. Oh how I love it when Belling talks baseball. He's discussing the Santana trade, called Minnesota a joke of a franchise, stated that they always just "give up", never having made any attempt to re-sign Santana or to keep any other of their star players. (Pluswhise there's no good restaurants in Minneapolis)
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3219098 pending a physical, no contract number available.
  13. Hardicourt was on Homer's show this afternoon and said the rumors out of Texas lately are that the Brewers could have Blalock for Hall/Capuano/Gross (or Gwynn) but he (Hardicourt) isn't convinced those are true.
  14. Buster Olney is reporting that the Padres are near a deal for Scott.. no word on the SD players involved.
  15. http://www.van-halen.com/news.html No sale dates for the later shows yet.
  16. I saw one of the Chicago shows in October.. it was a great show and well worth the money (mind you, I was sitting in the nosebleed seats... I may not have had the same opinion had I been sitting in the lower bowl). The music sounded fantastic (except "Hot for Teacher" was very bad both musically and vocally for some reason). DLR's vocal range is limited, and he doesn't seem to remember all the words any more (even noting during "Dance the Night Away", "I forgot the words!") but to see those guys together again is fantastic.
  17. Hmmm... I have just been catching up on my Dark Tower reading and am about to start reading Wolves of Calla. Now I'm not so sure I should finish the series.
  18. However, this earlier schedule indicates Sep. 24/25/26 will be in HD http://msn.foxsports.com/story/6669160
  19. http://msn.foxsports.com/name/HD Based on this schedule, looks like no more HD games this season. I have DISH network and Comcast Chicago had last night's game in HD.
  20. Just announced on 1510 AM. Link: http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&date=8/15/2007&id=27836
  21. Wally Berger had a pretty nice rookie season in an admittedly offense-heavy season (1930): .310/.375/.614, 27 doubles, 14 triples, 38 homers, 119 RBI.
  22. Dubya pledged to bring high-speed internet to all us rural backwaters by the end of '06! I'm STILL WAITING!!!!!
  23. There is no cable available in my neighborhood; we have DISH mostly because it is part of the package offered by the local phone company. I haven't been thrilled with the service either (I've had problems with the DVR that took months to clear up, for one thing). I see Time Warner trucks driving through the area on occasion.. I keep praying that they'll lay some cables down our street. The dial-up internet connection is far more annoying than the TV service could ever be (no DSL available in our area either... we are too far from the tower).
  24. HA! My Red Sox friend's response: ___________________________________________________ BRADY CLARK: NO HUSTLE CHUMP?! SAY IT AIN'T SO! Thanks for ruining my vacation. Cape Cod is terrible now. Ima go back out to the beach and drown myself.
  25. Somewhere, former WSSP personality Peter Brown is saying "This is a great trade! The Brewers traded three guys I never heard of for a proven major league pitcher!"
