  1. The In-and-Out Burger is on Camrose. (Couldn't resist!)
  2. Isn't that the requisite comment for any Brewer prospect in the field?
  3. I appreciate the "one line" posts in the link reports, and considering that viewing of the action is generally out of the question and following via audio isn't a universal option for everyone, I certainly wouldn't consider them to be meaningless. Very poor example. If you had instead cited the endless "I agree" posts from certain posters in the major league forum, I'd be more inclined to agree with you. Oof.
  4. Regarding the "former starting pitcher" comment, I want to believe that's just in reference to the fact that his stats this year are solely from short relief appearances and not a future bearing of the Brewers longterm plans with him. I also found the mention of "emotional issues" to be a bit odd. First I've heard of it. That's not a direct quote from Gord Ash, so it could just be another case of Tom being Tom in his minor league coverage. Is it really a legitimate concern? EDIT: just read this in the Huntsville thread. Tom's not entirely wrong this time, but he sure could have done a bit more citing. Their entry in the paper version didn't mention the condition either. Best of luck to Zach in his ongoing recovery.
  5. Always appreciate a 5-page Link Report. Good work, gentleman.
  6. As subpar as Kendall may have been in the field this year, he's still light years beyond Salome at this point. Per Don Money down in Nashville, Salome still needs a lot of work defensively.
  7. Come on' date=' man. I had a rough night and I hate the [expletive'] Eagles, man! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l271/toolow50/123423.jpg
  8. I might head on over to the event this Saturday in Brown Deer, but with a one-year-old in tow it ain't worth it to me to wait in line for an autograph (especially seeing that I'm not an autograph guy anyways). Still want to check it out though. I'm also contemplating waiting in line for some of the lesser players, grabbing the pen, and then holding it ransom for game-signed apparel from Prince, Braun, and Ed Sedar. And yes, the baby will be used as protection from security and team officials.
  9. Sure he's doing this to get into pro ball quicker, but seeing that he could re-enroll in JC or transfer to a 4-year school, I'd say this kid would have an ample amount of leverage in his 2010 contract negotiation.
  10. Another stellar outing for Josh Butler. What a difference between this year and last.
  11. This Hot List consisted solely of players from the 2008 draft and takes their season as a whole into consideration (or so they say in the intro), so I don't think it's that much of a cheap shot. But while I understand why Frederickson was listed, I feel it's a bit disingenuous for them to do so while completely disregarding his performance of late.
  12. Screech lives in Port Washington as of last year. My brother-in-law's company was contracted to haul away some of his junk... evidently it was not a pretty sight.
  13. You mean the Brewers weren't insulting him by selecting him like they did with that kid down in Mississippi a few years back? Whatever happened to that guy (and his ego)?
  14. I don't get it... is a purple tint the official modding feature of 'swagger'? Sorry dude, I couldn't get past the myspace-esque layout. Hurts my eyes, but then again I'm 28 so it was bound to happen sooner or later,
  15. What, no mention of Matt Harrington yet?
  16. Really? Braun and Katin have been prior teammates in the minors as well as college. The quote would mean more to me had it been spoken by someone without that sort of extensive rapport with Katin.
  17. Local news at it's finest!
  18. The long Wisconsin winters (which necessitate more maintenance and traveling) coupled with a budget crunch was apparently the downfall. Granted, all the state institutions are facing the same obstacles here, but baseball at UW-L has always been more of a fringe sport, never reaching the levels of football or track in either interest or prestige. I graduated from there in '04 and the mere thought of attending a game never crossed my mind. It's a shame it's gone, but will 99.9% of the student body in La Crosse even notice? I'd assume Whitewater & Oshkosh would hold attach a higher priority to baseball, perhaps at the expense of somewhere else in the budget, due to their relatively successful track record. The others, I have no idea.
  19. Painful and cliched is the last 17 years of Jay Leno and his hackneyed jokes. Painful and cliched is the 1000th airing on Letterman of "Does it float?". Painful and cliched is 30 seconds of Two and a Half Men (a full episode is out and out torture). Painful and cliched in this instance is simply running in front of blue screens. The fact that it was 4 minutes long, a run through Wrigley, a stop at the doll museum, etc. was a turn on that cliche. But if you didn't like it, of course it must be terrible... Yes, this was a fatal mistake. Clearly the entirety of the first show should have been Conan stopping at podunk towns.
  20. Katin reminds me a lot of Todd Dunn, but in looking back at the stats even Dunn drew a walk every now and then. For Brendan's sake it would be nice for him to get a shot in Milwaukee like Dunn did, but (thankfully on the results side) these are different times. If he keeps putting up these numbers though, he'll get a shot somewhere, if not with Milwaukee.
  21. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/46721042.html Woot to the Brown Deer stop (I live there), but why nothing south of I-94?
  22. His studio audience sure thinks so. I'm not more of a casual watcher of his show, but it sure seems like their response is always a bit over the top to the material. (Kind of like watching a Robin Williams movie.) I agree with Patrick425, I don't get it. I caught last night's Tonight Show. It's good to see Conan back on television... that 3 month hiatus seemed to take an eternity. Utilizing Andy Richter as the announcer seemed a bit off. That across the stage banter between Conan and Andy is just a bit awkward to watch. Too bad they couldn't bring Joel Goddard (and Toshi) with and seat Andy somewhere else. Hopefully they'll work out the kinks or I'll adjust.
  23. That would be Eddie Murray then, right? He had a .330 average in 1990, lower than McGee's .335 mark in the NL (which qualified for the title), but above McGee's total of .324 across both leagues.
  24. What an awesome story. Thanks for sharing.
