  1. This has piqued my curiosity in the past, but I never dug too deep into it. Looks like Ting might be of suitable service, but not sure if there's a better value. Gleaned from: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2505 Ting's rates: https://ting.com/rates EDIT: maybe this is better https://www.amazon.com/Prepaid-Tracking-Devices-Locators-Wireless/dp/B01HE3V7UW
  2. Was aware of this from very early on in my fandom, from the preview capsules in the paper. Looks like 81-57 was the nadir, right after Favre's first Bear game in 1992. Still cannot fathom that the Packers are actually ahead.
  3. Plus, the way Wilson threw the ball under pressure, determining that it was a throw-away (hence un-catchable) is understandable.
  4. I bought less in 2016 year than I ever have, but I'm thinking only a killer Bob Dylan bootleg series release pushed 2015 over this one. Bon Iver - 22, A Million was an obsession of mine for at least a month. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool is beautiful. Sam Beam/Jesca Hoop - Love Letter For Fire surprised me. The Avalanches - Wildflower - at about 16 years of waiting, couldn't possibly live up to expectations.
  5. I picked up a compact, black/white laser printer for about $50 on Amazon last summer. (Looks like it lists at $92 now.) Best printing decision I've ever made. Still on the original toner and replacements are < $20.
  6. I assume she had you in her phone contacts and (inadvertently or not) shared that with Facebook.
  7. No one I know has ever regretted watching 'Friday Night Lights'.
  8. This playlist on YouTube has a lot of them. What a great nostalgia trip to hear the 70s via the 90s. In a small sampling I heard: - Low Rider - Rocky Mountain Way - I Just Want To Make Love To You Looks like most if not all 37 contain song information. Sweet.
  9. 1. The War On Drugs - Lost in the Dream 2. Broken Bells - After the Disco 3. TV on the Radio - Seeds 4. Beck - Morning Phase For about the last 9 months, all I've wanted to talk about was "Lost in the Dream". Privileged to have caught them live at the Pabst in September. ”After the Disco” is absurdly catchy. I've listened to it way more than I ever thought I would and probably more than I've listened to The Shins in the past 5 years now. ”Seeds" is a grower. Maybe not as good as their last, but better than I thought they had left in them. I wanted to say "Morning Phase" is *just* a re-hash of ”Sea Change" but it certainly holds its own. I like the new Spoon release well enough, too.
  10. This season was fantastic. 12 episodes really cut the fat, although the finale felt kind of rushed. What an ending though.
  11. 4. Garage mural. 5. The Gilfoyle/Dinesh dynamic 6. Everything (everything) Peter Gregory (RIP - Christopher Evan Welch)
  12. Mike Judge, Greg Daniels (worked with Judge on KOTH), and Mike Schur (worked with Daniels on The Office/P&R) is just a lineage of perfection. I love Silicon Valley, it's so damn good.
  13. For the first time in my life, I watched an episode of 24 live. Never thought that'd happen. Solid starter. I'm open to this re-launch, and I think the 12 episode format can only help.
  14. Bringing a router and a Chromecast to a hotel was a winning idea. Luckily, the room has an ethernet jack and an available HDMI port on the TV.
  15. The horror...
  16. My job is ancillary to the car business on the data side, and have had some ancillary communication with both parties throughout the past few years. As far as I know, Edmunds "TMV" pricing is based on similar sold vehicles in model, condition, and location. KBB pricing, to my knowledge, does not explicitly factor in these variables. I'm much more familiar with how Edmunds works than KBB though, and even then I might not even be half right so don't take this as gospel or anything.
  17. I pretty much only stream these days, so my selection is somewhat limited. The Last Stand (Netflix) - Arnold Schwarzenegger as an everyman sherrif? Hmm, works well enough considering his age. The film never rises above the occasion to be anything other than a run-of-the-mill action flick, but it certainly doesn't offend. Competent, and better than I expected. Price Check (Netflix) - 90 minutes of Parker Posey doing Parker Posey things. Take that as either a warning or a enticement, depending on your disposition. Surprisingly, I can go either way on her. As such, the film wasn't terrible. Hey, I've seen worse lately. Devil's Pass (Netflix) - Blair Witch in Siberia. That's all that needs to be said. The Bling Ring (Amazon Prime) - The best thing about this movie is that it's only 91 minutes. That's the only positive I got out of watching 5 conceited, heartless, douchebag teenagers burglarize the vacant homes of celebrities. I don't mean to misdirect here, that last sentence probably makes it sound way more interesting than the film actually was. It's basically 20 minutes of fashion montages (snooze), 10 minutes of celebrity googling (seriously), and 60 minutes of watching the teenage characters act somehow more superficial and vapid than the owners of the homes they break into (okay, that's actually the one aspect not completely cliched). I watched it in 3 chunks and just punished myself in continuing rounds 2 and 3. Thoughts wrapped up in 3 words in honor of my 3 separate starts of the movie: Pointless. Garbage. Avoid.
  18. We've done over-the-air for quite some time now. For a while, we just made do with Netflix, free Hulu, and just doing our best to catch stuff in their entirety as they aired. Found out pretty quickly that that more or less sucks, so I searched for an alternative. Eventually, I picked up a $20 USB tuner off of NewEgg to use with the integrated Windows Media Center in Windows 7. I later added an even cheaper internal tuner off of eBay to give me dual tuners. Since the Xbox360 is a WMC media extender, I use that as an end device to play on my TV. Works fantastic with recording and playing back, and can do everything a conventional DVR can do, but is probably a little out there for most tastes. We do Netflix, and picked up an Amazon Prime membership recently. There's a pretty big overlap between the two, but damned now if I'll ever give up my 2-day shipping. I think Netflix has the better selection of kids programming but both services have their merits. We tried Hulu Plus a couple of times, but even though you're paying, you still see ads. That bugged the crap out of me. I haven't delved into the RedBox streaming and don't really have plans to.
  19. I'm about 6 months behind on this show, but did catch this image last week: *Swoon* http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/10/parks-and-recreation-has-an-easter-egg-that-only-baseball-nerds-would-understand/ Man, I love Mike Schur. His (and Dan Goor's) Brooklyn Nine Nine is solid too.
  20. Idiocracy.
  21. Bummed it took me until yesterday to find out The National was playing The Riverside tonight. Too late of notice for my current lifestyle.
