    Clearly Russell Branyan should have willed the batters ahead of him to get on base prior to his home runs. Explaining to your readers that grades are given out based on pre-season expectations and statistal merit and then giving a 'C' grade to a guy who started the season as minor league depth and ended up with a .925 major league OPS is a joke. 'Fair and balanced' analysis, once again.

    If we're going to judge Weeks compared to his peers defensively, we should be doing so offensively. OPS+ compares OPS to the league as a whole, while the following sOPS+ numbers are relative to the 2B position: [b]Year sOPS+ [/b] 2005 94 2006 103 2007 112 2008 99 Considering his age, the fact that the 2008 sOPS+ is almost exactly league average in what has universally been considered to be a down year is a huge plus tells us a little bit about the expectation level. I still think the '08 numbers are aberrational, and that a change of coaching scenery can benefit both Rickie Weeks and the Brewers, instead of shipping him out. Expecting a highly regarded player not yet in his prime to start a downward trend is rather pessimistic. I believe he'll rebound. And I understand the reservations about his defense, but he has been constantly improving and his range is definitely a plus. Hopefully that trend will continue. One other thing... not that I'm seeing any of this around here, but the stigma of using the strike out as the sole barometer of a player's batting success is rather tired. The number one goal is to get on base, something that Weeks excels at. I just don't understand how certain fans can choose to moan about how this team lacks players who get on base while simultaneously clamoring for Rickie's dismissal. I guess I'm still on board.

    My Morning Jacket put on an absolutely epic show at the Riverside last night. A three hour set! They might very well be the best live band around and I'm fairly convinced this was the best concert I've been to. Any band who employs a guitarist equally good at electric guitar, pedal steel, and saxophone, and whip them all out on the same set, just can't go wrong. I've been looking forward to seeing these guys in concert for several years now, and they still managed to exceed all my expectations. I am now convinced that Jim James is the anti-Sveum. That is all.

    I saw the pilot and was mildly intrigued. I then watched the 2nd episode and was turned off by the formulaic plot. I missed last weeks episode, but because I have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night I tuned in for episode #4. I actually liked the last one the best. It is what it is. A semi-interesting show that occasionally piques my curiosity. If I'm in front of the TV, I'll probably watch it, but I'm not going to plan my night around it.

    Jan's baby was the result of artificial insemination, as said in the Season 4 finale. Also, Toby appeared right before the end credits in the opener 'relaxing' in Costa Rica.

    Yes, you should have. I'd even take Easy Tiger, 29, Cold Roses, Jacksonville City Nights, Gold, and Heartbreaker all over Love is Hell (which does have it's moments). But there's still something to be said for not going with the obvious choice.

    I'm still amazed that at least one of those 'homeless guys' is from Eau Claire. I resisted that album for the longest time, mostly because I couldn't get past the amount of hype, but I eventually gave in and really regretted not doing so sooner. Is it just my settings' date=' or is that video not loading? I guess I'll speak in general terms here: I think I merely like Jethro Tull, but I love Thick As A Brick. Less gasping than Aqualung (the song), and seven times as long! [hr'][/hr] Here's my go at it:

    I couldn't let this post go unanswered... I'm only 27, so the Talking Heads were a bit before my time, but I've been delving into them a lot in the past few years. I really dig Brian Eno and love Remain in the Light, but strangely enough my favorite Talking Heads album is Little Creatures. I thought I read that it would be a lot of the Eno-era collaborations so in that respect I'd love to be able to go to this show, but budgetary reasons are holding me back.

    I too will be at the Packer game, but even if I wasn't... 1/16 > 1/162. And that logic completely disregards the fact that it's opening night and the first game in just under 16 years that will not started by Brett Favre. I guess game #144 of the baseball season isn't all that important to me.

    Casey --- thanks for your help. My issue is occurring when I click on the new post icon for previously read threads, typically longer ones. For testing purposes, here is where I get sent to when clicking on the Vent Thread. I don't know what you or other people would necessarily see when clicking on that link, but all I see is an empty topic on page# 102. It's not the end of the world obviously, just a minor nuisance.

    Is anyone else having an issue with this regarding larger threads? It'll try to jump a link that apparently doesn't exist, so I get a blank page. This typically occurs on older threads, so I'm assuming it has something to do with post moderations/deletions that occur after my last visit.

    You must of missed the posts that deemed Prince Fielder to be a fat, smelly turd. The increasing level of reactionary discourse in these threads is greatly disappointing. Is this what losing a few games does to people? I don't want to single anyone out, but there are certain posters on here that I enjoy reading their posts 99% of the time, but have seemed to have lost their objectivity a few hours back. I can't ever fault people for feeling disappointment, but I wish it wouldn't have such a drastic affect on the quality of posting. I do however, appreactiate the attempts at quantifying a percentage of the loss on certain players. That's my cup of tea. Put me down for .3% because I was only half-watching.

    I guess I never can understand the hate for TWC. I hate TW for their horrible interface on their DVR. It's lightyears behind Charter's MOXI box...almost as if the software was released with no testing. Having to deal with it more or less renders watching TV unenjoyable for me and is the main reason I don't use my basement TV as much as I should. But other than that, it's just great. I love their slow internet and the fact that they released my phone number to telemarketers!
