  1. I want to append my last post by agreeing here too. No way do I think Fiers should get Estrada's spot. No chance. I've been down that road before. Fiers is fool's gold as a starter. He is fine right where he is, and that might even be debatable. So in short, it's no real easy solution. Again, I keep going back to the fact that Marco is the 4th starter so these are the warts you get with guys on the back end of the rotation. Was just so annoying the Brewers fought so hard to get back in at 3 - 3 and then Marco flushes all that hard work away in the very next inning.
  2. Stache - I am with you on this. I like Estrada and honestly thought he was possibly going to be able to have a special year. He is a 4th starter, I get it, I guess I should re-calibrate my expectations of him. But his propensity for the long ball is scary. Rock and BA kept hammering the point home today about how much of a fly ball pitcher he is, and how he rarely gets ground balls for DP's to be able to get out of jams/innings. Through his 5 innings of work today (IIRC) every out recorded was a fly ball. (except for the few K's he had)
  3. Couldn't agree more. He's been swinging at stuff that makes it look like he's blindfolded at the plate. His strikeout in the 7th was dumbfounding bad. On a different note, I am fairly certain the Reds have either approached or surpassed my Cards level of dislike.
  4. That ump squeezed Estrada. His strike zone made less than zero sense. Pure garbage. Now please, someone who actually isn't even watching the game but following pitches on some internet nonsense tell me that wasn't the case.
  5. Kintzler seems like a nice enough guy, is an interesting story coming from the Canadian Northern League...but I am developing one of those irrational and baseless "fan" dislikes for him. This is my formal admission and the first step in my catharsis.
  6. Big K right there. Nice work Duke. Good win Brew Crew!
  7. Big time DP there. Needed that. EDIT: and on the super slo-mo replay nice concentration by Gennett to hang in there with the runner sliding at his feet and deliver the throw to 1B.
  8. May 26th (two appearances ago) v. BAL. He got the third out in the 7th & worked a scoreless 8th. Ah, there it is. I figured it probably wasn't as bad as my perception would lead me to believe.
  9. Without actually looking it up, I can't remember the last time Kintzler was able to actually finish an inning he started.
  10. Cans someone PLEASE check Nelson Cruz's bloodstream???? bluefont Clearly still juicing. /bluefont
  11. ...America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Well said, good sir.
  12. Inning ending DP's are common and as much a part of the fabric of the game as the chalked lines and bases themselves...but no matter how many you've seen, they are never NOT frustrating to watch unfold. Ugh.
  13. Couldn't agree more. One of the most exciting players in all MLB.
  14. KRod is all over the place. It's like he just woke up from a nap.
  15. Inexcusible 100% agreed. I am so agitated I turned the game off.
  16. Braun hurt, Roenicke came out to switch pitchers, and nobody was loose. Runners and 2nd and 3rd and Smith only threw EIGHT pitches before facing Doumit. TBH, I think he prematurely pulled Garza. He should have let Garza get out of the inning. Roenicke panicked.
  17. This is one of THE most frustrating games I've ever watched. Roenicke is an idiot. So many ways he has single handedly screwed this game up and most likely cost them the win. Awful awful awful awful.
