  1. JJ and Rickie coming up big today! I wonder if Pirate fans still think their prospects are better than ours?
  2. Not that it actually happens...but imagine if Bill Hall is feeling good and he finds himself at home later tonight. He's surfing the web and he's still amped about today's win. He decides he wants to re-live the excitement of the big game. He checks out Brewerfan.net hoping that fans have finally started to realize how much he brings to the team. He wants fans to be excited about both his and the team's future. Instead of finding a bunch of heaping praise on Bill Hall's performance, he finds a string of posts debating how much credit to give some guy named scoop for telling us Hall was a poor man's Soriano. It's the players getting it done who deserve the praise. Bill Hall you have become the Brewers 2nd best weapon offensively, ranking close behind Carlos Lee and you've got a long bright career ahead of you.
  3. I've been pimping Bill Hall since last year too, I don't think I deserve any props, he does. Just a few short weeks ago I said Bill Hall should man 3rd base at least until Ryan Braun is ready to take over. (If Braun pans out) I was scoffed at for such a forward thinking notion. You'll be right about some guys and be wrong about some. The problem comes when you're more worried about the blow your reputation will take when you're wrong then the player's failure to produce for the Brewers. The same goes for when you pat yourself too hard on the back for being right rather than being primarily excited for the team.
  4. GB Bill Hall! Man I love that guy. That HR in the eight was definitely the season highlight to me so far. I was so excited I ran to the phone to call my girlfriend at work to tell her how good Bill Hall is becoming. And she hates baseball.
  5. After an eight-run inning, someone has already posted a "don't count us out of the wild card" thread on this forum. Sarcasm - Catch It!
  6. Hey, fellas. What are we complaining about tonight? It's never a bad time to complain about Bill Schroeder.
  7. Now Overbay... Glad to see he want after a good first pitch...fouled it off, but then watched a pitch right down the middle for strike two. Behind 0-2, then 1-2... Result: swing and miss at a high inside fastball out of the zone while trying to protect with two strikes
  8. Weeks watches the first 3 pitches go by...2 of them strikes, then is forced to protect the plate behind 1-2. Result: pop-up
  9. Here's an idea... From here on out, pretend Weeks is making Jenkins salary and Jenks is making Rickie's. Maybe this season will be a little easier to swallow that way.
  10. What is with this team? When we hit, the pitching stinks...when our pitchers throw a gem, our batters aren't capable of hitting a beachball. Frustrating.
  11. I'm so excited about Rickie Weeks the Brewer, I almost forgot that I picked him up and inserted him right into my fantasy baseball lineup last night. 2-4 with an RBI is a very nice night at 2B.
  12. Is it wrong that I'm dancing around the living room like an idiot after Weeks' single? Nope...even my girlfriend was hootin' and hollering and she hates baseball.
  13. Boo Ump! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. I agree...Rickie's strength will probably surprise many fielders this year. Utley kind of backpeddled instead of turning and trying to run it down. Rickie's been making fielder's look helpless in AAA all year. He muscled that ball to the outfield grass when for most it probably doesn't get out of the infield.
  15. Geesh, I can't believe someone went ahead and predicted a K for Rickie's first AB. Coulda been at least a little optimistic. To counter that prediction, I'm calling a Home Run for Rickie in at bat number 3. And no sooner do I finish typing it, JJ hits his first!
  16. MOELLER!!!!!!!!! Why did he pass on those first two high hangers? Talk about the absolute easiest pitches to drive to the outfield. Those first two high curves and at least one more were tailor made for sac flies. Grrrrrr.
  17. It's lookin' like it's about to be 2-10 in our last 12. Ugh, the last thing this franchise needed at the start of a new era.
  18. Can a team with no bench really afford to carry a guy who brings absolutely no quality that can help you win a game especially when he's a backup-backup 3rd baseman with no glove?
  19. I'm going to try and stay as level-headed as possible here. I just wanna say that I was shocked to see some people actually pleased to see Helms in the lineup today. Considering the guy can't hit or play defense why put him in there. And I'm refering to his performance BEFORE the game. Since we obviously don't need 3 third baseman, isn't it time for a roster move? We sure as heck don't need 3 when 2 of the 3 can't hit. At least Cirillo can hold his own with the glove. But Helms gives us nothing. In fact given his sulking with his lack of PT, I'd argue he's a pretty depressing guy to have around/ I know my stomach turns just at the sight of him. Our roster is a mess. It's time to eat our losses with Wes and get back to having 25 usable parts.
  20. Management isn't stupid... they're ultimately accountable to the guy at the top, and he's not going to make decisions based on fan reaction when we're not even out of April yet. Mark A can see into the clubhouse, while we can't. If it's obvious that the club is lifeless and not just slumping, people will get canned. I agree to an extent. If the players have a pep in their step and laugh and joke around with Wynegar and hang on his every word but continue to be atrocious at the plate when do results matter? And it hasn't just been dating back to the start of this season. We've got a definite pattern of players getting worse here. Look no further than the ridiculous strikeout patterns we've got going here. All these contact hitters we keep bringing in that suddenly become SO machines.
  21. Milwaukee...It's where decent hitters come to die. I can't think of one hitter who has improved here. I really don't count Overbay because he was always touted as a good hitter, just needed a chance to play. And has Jenkins ever had a good year under Wynegar? (serious question) Shouldn't a hitting coach have to at least prevent players from getting worse under his guidance? God forbid we might expect one or two of them to actually get better. Remember when we got Moeller and were mildly excited to have a decent hitting catcher? Now he's the second coming of Henry Blanco. What could it hurt to get a new voice in here. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe these guys are all bad hitters. And if Lee, one of the most consistent players year in and year out doesn't hit here, I'll kidnap Wynegar myself.
  22. And Costelo comes in to pitch the 7th and promptly gives up a run to end Dillard's bid for a W. BC tied up 1-1
  23. 6 IP, 1 H, 10 Ks pitching tonight for Brevard County
