  1. If that happens, be thankful they scored. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  2. Why am I even watching? I've skipped three of the last four games almost in their entirety, and when I did check in last night, I was treated to the near-meltdown in the eighth.
  3. Even if he's seriously losing his you-know-what out there? Is "pitch count" the only relevant statistic for pitchers anymore?
  4. The fact that no one is warming up right now, when BOTH your long guys are available, speaks volumes. Can I retract my defense of that moron from Friday night?
  5. WHY IS OHKA HITTING? I gave Ned a pass on Friday, but this is ridiculous.
  6. Look in the mirror. I'm not the one defending an umpire for calling a pitch that came over the inner half of the plate right above the hitter's kneecaps a ball.
  7. I don't know. I have no recollection of anything being in the rule book about the strike zone changing depending on who is pitching and whether they "deserve" it or not. Those making this argument are simply trying to find an excuse to blame Ned for this. Why bother saying anything rational when you can just react with emotion?
  8. To me, the problem with Yost's move isn't that he didn't bring in Helling or Kolb or Shouse or Mom. It's that he had a seriously tough situation and decided to save his closer for a potential save opportunity. Put your best pitcher in the game. (That said, it's really hard to totally fault Yost for that because every other manager in baseball does that, no matter how dumb I might think it is.)
  9. You know what? You're right. That fastball was so easy to hit that one of the best fastball hitters around whiffed badly on one that he tried to hit to Texas, then took the other one and got bailed out by an incompetent umpire. But, yeah, Turnbow had to resort to throwing meatballs to Jones. That's exactly what happened. I'm becoming convinced that some of you people don't actually watch the games, and you just wait until the result is in so you can cry about something.
  10. That's nice. Defend the umpire for being a gutless puke, and blame Turnbow for actually doing something right for a change.
  11. So I'm supposed to blame Turnbow for actually throwing a perfect pitch to someone? What a joke this is becoming. I'm all for the "Ned's gotta go" camp, because I think he does, but the last thing we need to do is criticize him when he makes a move that should have paid off. Would you rather have Kolb out there to walk in the winning run? Or Geremi Gonzalez? Give me a break. Helling was the only viable option, but I'm sure Ned would rather have Helling available tomorrow in case Sheets pulls a muscle sneezing or whatever.
  12. Which is a really stupid way for an umpire to make a decision. If he needs the catcher to frame the pitch so he can see where it is, he shouldn't be back there. The catcher's job is to call the pitch and catch the pitch. He's not the home plate ump. Not only that, but that pitch didn't require framing. It was almost perfect. If that's not a strike when you're throwing into a mitt the size of Mench's head, the umpire just plain isn't paying attention.
  13. It was a terrible move, yet the only reason it didn't work was because the moron behind home plate was afraid to ring up Andruw Jones in his home park in the ninth inning.
  14. Who pitches there, besides maybe Helling? And if Helling pitches there, aren't we kind of wasting him, considering the pitcher's spot could have come up in the tenth? Seems to me like the best options were Kolb and Turnbow, which is kind of like picking between getting stabbed with a knife or salad tongs.
  15. Well, about the only thing I think he did wrong tonight was he didn't argue vehemently enough (well, actually, he didn't argue at all) when Wise got pathetically squeezed in the eighth. That ump needs to have a blunt object strike him in the back of the head. Preferably a steel chair.
  16. Well, at least when the Braves finally win this game, we'll have something else to complain about besides Turnbow/Jenkins/Other favorite target.
  17. This is a ******* joke. This umpire doesn't belong in the LLWS next week.
  18. Way to make that payoff pitch close, Derrick. So they're getting someone up in the pen now? Why not just let Shouse start the inning and relieve of us of all this pain? McCann's not going to make it up this inning no matter what happens, IIRC.
  19. Um...where's that wall I like to smack my head into when Turnbow pitches? Yikes. If I cross my fingers any harder, I'll break them. C'mon 'Bow.
  20. At this pace, Smoltz will be able to pitch again on Sunday afternoon if they need him to. Feel free to take a pitch, guys. Nice job by Mench. Pretty heads-up to catch the infield napping there.
  21. Pretty sick that Smoltz gets calls when he's HITTING. Way to let the pitcher get off the hook. Stupid moron behind the plate. "Give credit to Smoltz." Why, Daron? Because he TOOK STRIKE THREE and got away with it? Why should he be credited for that?
  22. Well, the escape from Jenkins lasted seven innings. Attaboy, Jenks. If he's pouting, I'm thinking he's going to keep it to himself, which I'm cool with.
