  1. I believe that pitching coach was Charles Nagy. After Nagy departed the DBacks he came back to the Indians organization, dealt with Bauer in the minors, and then moved onto the major league staff for Anaheim... Huh, interesting! Did not know that.
  2. I've been following Bauer for a while and have always been a fan. I don't think there is real off the field issues.. He just Marches to his own drum. He wanted to train his own way and pitch how he wanted to pitch, and used his own coach as mentioned. That team that traded him had Kirk Gibson as the manager, and my guess is that Gritty Gamer Kirk didn't love the fact that a rookie wasn't listening to his pitching coach, or his catcher (montero). The guy is obsessed with the mechanical aspects of pitching. DBs didn't love him going his own way. Any talk of "off the field issues" is fabrication from the good ol' boys of baseball who don't like his different method.
  3. Trying to move 3 bats, getting married n wedding is getting expensive. Worth toxic 454 26oz (sb454a) balanced. 100 swings, not factory grip. Good shape a few chips, $160 shipped bat is returnable, no receipt Combat anti virus reloaded 27oz $90 Combat scott brown 98 26oz $70 Both these bats have a lot of wear, but not a ton of hits. Avr has ~300 scott brown has ~500. lots of wear around the endcap but plenty of life left. Will sell both for $150. All 3 for $300. Let me know if youre interested http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p625/Travisteck/2012-05-18131916-1.jpg http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p625/Travisteck/2012-05-18131908-1.jpg http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p625/Travisteck/2012-05-18131723-1.jpg http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p625/Travisteck/2012-05-18131717-1.jpg
  4. They have jordan walden, saved around 30 but blew 10. I guess since theyre going "all in" they could add k rod, but walden is dirt cheap, young, and will only get better.
  5. We should ask geoff jenkins what he's up to as well, melvin has yet to sign his "gamer" this year.
  6. I know it's just talk, but with all the Latin American influence down in Miami, they probably can attract a lot of Latin players.. it'll be interesting.
  7. Either way, it would be a sick team down there. As far as our ss situation goes, I'd either want reyes or furcal (either should be great if healthy) or barmes/ brendan ryan. With all of those choices, we get good d at least
  8. It was hanley that went to the front office and said he'd slide to 3rd if they would sign reyes
  9. Because they have a top 100 prospect who is blocked by Headley who's absolutely raking at AA(and just got promoted to AAA). It would make a lot of sense to trade him. Again, a package of Heckathorn, a GB pitcher for that massive park with good stuff would be an excellent fit. Scooter Gennett is another guy who I think fits in very well at Petco with his gap power. Could easily see him racking up 40 dbls down the road playing there. George Kottaras or Maldonado to give them some catching depth they lack. And then Bartlett is also blocking one of their top young prospects and he's got very little value. Plus they could also take Katin and or Farris as well. Katin could be a nice bat off the bench for them and Farris a filler until Gennett is ready(whom I'd rally hate to trade). If they had any interest in trying to see if Casey could figure it out the rest of this year and then turn around and deal him in the off-season to give Darnell more time, or start next year with him as their 3rd basemen to keep Darnell away from Super2 status would be up to them. But the range of players I've listed I think is about what it'd take to make such a deal. Here's a better question, for the sake of argument;Mat Gamel+Tyler Thornburg+Chris Narveson for Chase Headly+Mike Adams+Chad Quallis+Tim Stauffer+Jason Bartless....who says no? Kinda a bit over the top, but that could really address all of our needs and give the Padres some nice pieces moving forward. Not sure I'd do it, but for the time being, Betancourt gets his walking papers, McGehee gets sent down to AAA, as does Estrada to work on getting stretched back out. Stauffer steps in as our #5. Lineup of HartMorganBraunPrinceWeeksHeadleyLucroyBartlettThe pen sets up as followsCL-AxfordSU-KRod7th-AdamsMRP-QuallsMRP-HawkinsMRP-LoeLoogy-BraddockLong Man-Dillard/McClendon(the Long man wouldn't be as important)RotationGreinkeGallardoMarcumWolfStaufferLike I said, just in a rhetorical scenario, who says no to this one? Not that I'd be in favor of giving up such a huge haul for the long term, but you would improve your team a GREAT deal, at 3rd, SS, and in the BP. Have you heard what a reliever like adams is going to command? Gamel + Thornburg + Narv probably wouldn't even net Adams alone, hes arguably the best relief arm out there. They want a top 50 guy. Not a former top prospect, a good prospect, and a #5 starter. Jed Hoyer hangs up when he hears the name adams.
  10. He may not have been injury prone prior to 2008, but he has missed a ton since then 08' - 36 games '09 - 150 games (the exception here) '10 - 97 Games '11 - only 12 games so far I don't think I want anything to do with him. He's obviously not what he was earlier in his career
  11. Mets would hang up as soon as they heard doug's voice. Really though, we have 0 chance of getting reyes or wright, especially when teams with decent farm systems are looking for a short stop (giants, angels).
  12. Not sure if any one knows this but this is the exact subject of an article on espn, so that's where this topic of discussion is coming from
  13. I honestly do not see how any of you think that we have any chance at signing Lee. First, as everyone has stated there's the Yankees, who will not be outbid. If somehow they do get outbid, you know it will be by someone like the Red Sox, Angels, or obviously Texas. Ryan has stated that he wants to keep Lee there, he's his kind of pitcher. Goes out, throws a ton of innings, doesn't whine. Now that ownership is settled, I think that they are 2nd behind the yankess. If we do offer up a contract, it would be the same as the lowest offer the yankees throw out there, and if you're Cliff Lee, who would you rather play for, a contender that has won almost 30 world series, or a team that hasn't won one? Now I hope as much as the next guy that some how, some way, we get him, but I think that anything we throw at him, Cashman and the yanks will come back with 10 mil more tacked on atleast.
  14. I'd say most of them would be a 2 on our team and a few 1b's..
  15. I don't think it would really be that big of a "PR Hit" as you think it will. To be honest, I don't think casual fans would care one bit if he got traded and we had to pay some of his salary, as long as there are some prospects in the deal that are GREAT, or we're getting some major league ready young pitching (which is probably doubtful, I know.) I wouldn't want the crew to take any more than half, and I'd prefer something like 3 million, but if it means getting more prospects that the media and the organization can hype up to the fans, great.
  16. Some interesting stuff on Greinke, regarding the future of the Royals and his point of view on the matter.. Per Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star Regarding KC's farm system: On staying in KC past his contract: He doesn't seem happy with the way its being run in KC, but he says he likes the town. My guess is he likes the non-major market. Maybe he'd like Milwaukee.. we can only dream
  17. When I was watching him last night, he seemed to have a lot more control and command of his fast ball, which by the way was up around 87, which I think is a bit higher than usual? The one bad pitch I saw him throw was a changeup that hung up and in on one of the hairstons and if he would have swung, it probably would have been way out. Other than that, great change up and good command. I hope he's back
  18. Is it criticism? Not really, but with the Yankees and other clubs in the mix, you know that it's a semi-accurate representation and we really didn't have much chance of signing him as it was. And do I think he should be traded regardless? No. I'd love to see another 5 years of Brauny and Prince, but only if we could get prince at a reasonable price, which I really don't see happening. I'd like him traded this deadline(If we're out of it totally), or this winter to make sure we get a good haul, which would be a lot easier if he wasn't a half year rental. As far as Hardy goes, I didn't think we were going to get a top of the rotation starter, and to be honest I like the trade still and think Gomez just needs to work some things out and will come along in time. And I know that a winning team puts people in seats, that's a given, but the brewers will sell more tickets if prince is held on to until his contract expires. Don't get me wrong, I want to keep prince here as long as the next guy, but I think the front office will know pretty soon whether we have a chance or not to sign him, and if we don't I hope they make a good decision.
  19. Nate, Why on earth would we trade for Chris Davis? Smoak is going to take over pretty soon, and Davis has been terrible. That just really doesn't make sense, and with Smoak there at 1b they probably wouldn't trade for prince anyway. As far as trading or making an offer goes, I think that the brewers will make an offer, and deal with this like the sabbathia offer. The way I look at it is most of the people who are going to the brewers games, buying the jerseys and such aren't die hard baseball fanatics or followers like many of us are on the board. By making an offer, they'll make it look like the CC deal. "We tried to keep him, but our offer wasn't enough" blah blah blah. If the front office does trade him, which they should do, there will be a huge uproar i think from the casual fan base who doesn't understand the value of prince in the trade market, and don't care about prospects, or what the team is going to look like a few years from it. When we traded JJ for example, how many of your friends that were casual fans were mad that he got traded? I for one had a ton, and although JJ isn't at the same level Prince is, I have to think that this is going through the minds of Doug and Mark. If baseball was really just about the building the best team and winning, then the trade would happen probably this winter. Realistically, baseball in Milwaukee is about making money and drawing attendance.
  20. Because Macha knows he put is career in a zim-zam and is trying to blow all of our minds with his 26th level managing ability.
  21. I caught the start of the game on the radio, then went on lunch and got to watch soup for a little bit. I was content with the job he did, I expected much much worse, but that dinger that Byrd hit was WAAYY gone, and reminded me that all that soup is, is a big meatball pitcher. Besides giving up the two homers, his breaking stuff was going where it needed to most of the time, and he seemed to have decent command of his fastball. Braun had a really good game too, and the hitters were really focused today. I too never want to play the cubs again, however if we do have to I hope it would be Zambrano every time, the dude is just a headcase. Lastly, I think that after this series, the Cubbies have made sure that they have the worst defensive outfield in the league. Man it was painful watching Soriano and Fukudome during the games. Then again, Corey had some awful plays today too. Corey to Chicago anyone?
  22. Yeah.. they make up the worst 3/4 hitters in the league.
  23. To be honest, I wouldn't really want Ellsbury on our team. If we did get him, I don't think gomez would really have a place anymore because you don't want to stick a good defensive outfielder in right in my opinion when he doesn't hit for a ton of power. I'd rather have the hair pulling moments of Corey's defense, and hope he puts the pop back into his bat and goes for 20/20 again. If we were to trade prince, I think that it would have to be a lot of pitching we get back, or atleast a solid ace potential guy and prospect(s), which I still don't know if bucholz is.
  24. Shouldn't this be closed? Morrow got traded..
  25. MLBTR says we are out on washburn .http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/jarrod-washburn-rumors-thursday.html
