  1. What is really amazing is the brewers have 9 base runners in 3 innings and 0 LOB
  2. Just realized the crew is only 7 games ahead of San Diego, and 7.5 behind St Louis, yikes! Lineup looks good for today
  3. I'm guessing Cat and Bourgeois will be sharing time out in right. Was Bourgeois on the 40 man already? and if Hall comes off Heether could still be added for Sept. correct?
  4. Rickie was hurting the team (especially with his glove) at a time when it actually mattered. And we were trying to get Rickie to improve some things for our own benefit, so it made sense as we didn't have to be concerned about how the move appeared to potential suitors. I really don't like it either, but was trying to possibly look for a positive outcome. If he lights it up for a few weeks in AAA, comes back up and hits well in September it may still help his trade value. Either that, or maybe we showcase Escobar for a couple of months, trade him in the offseason and maybe get Hardy to sign a below market value contract due to his poor year. I don't think a positive outcome is likely for this move, but there is a chance I suppose.
  5. This doesn't suprise me at all, had a feeling this was coming since early July. Whether or not it was his fault, Castro was always going to be the fall guy if the staff did poorly.
  6. Well the 4 mentioned have the most games played at first in brewers history, but they probably could have stopped at 3 on this one : )
  7. Well, Looper staked to another good lead here. Lets hope he can hold it this time.
  8. Another questionable send there, with prince coming up, even though he would have been walked intentionally. After watching it again counsell was in easy, case of ump calling a guy out because the ball beat him
  9. Great work by Craig there, taking one for the team for sure
  10. So does the higher average guy then have a higher slugging percentage too? Because I think everyone would agree that obviously the higher avg is better then. It would seem it would be a given in all of the arguments so far. I wonder what the run expected difference would be for a 300/350/500 compared to a 250/350/500 hitter? I would guess the higher ba might make some difference but how much is negated by the relative lack of power in those hits.
  11. This really got me wondering why nobody seems to use a standard deviation of runs stat to find consistency. It could be a somewhat crude measure of how consistent a team is at scoring (using only each game, but I suppose you could do it for innings too). Then there would be an objective measure to point to in regards to consistency. I wonder the measure would be statistically significant though (ie small sample). Or what that would mean in terms of building a team.
  12. Time for some JJ and JK redemption this inning. edit: forgot jj was out last inning - oh well
  13. It's amazing that Gonzalez is the only Padre starter without a hit tonight.
  14. Melvin should start getting some flack for his poorly put together pitching staff. There is no amount of coaching in the world that would make these guys good. I'd weigh options in the GM department. Maybe Deputy Braun should be taking over.It does seem that Melvin can't put together a pitching staff, and rightly deserves the blame. I still have a feeling they will throw Castro under the bus first.
  15. Whether it's his fault or not, I don't like the odds of Bill Castro keeping his job after this season.
  16. In defense of JJ, the d has still been there this year, the bat has been really bad though. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3797&position=SS#value
  17. Looper just continuing to make sure he keeps his negative value for the year http://www.fangraphs.com/...526&position=P#value
  18. Macha just knew Yo would have the best at bat of the night ; )
  19. So I took it upon myself to do some quick analyzing. I used a rough calculation of the stats for 2007-2009 and came up with the link below. Just interesting to see the best lineup we could field with these players should be about 10% better than the worst. Link
  20. Here is a lineup analyzer tool, for anyone interested. Take it for what it's worth http://www.baseballmusings.com/cgi-bin/LineupAnalysis.py
  21. I got 4 for Tuesday, started at 8:59
