  2. Let me start off with - I do not know what is going on with Hart. If is back in a few days then you just wait for him. But if he hits the 15 day, do you bring up Morris?
  3. Hahaha - awesome
  4. I am sitting here reading and going why are the Astros bolded? Oh ya, they are in the AL West next year. I like it. Welcome to year round interleague - a welcomed change - IMO
  5. If the Brewers finish something like 16-4 over their last 20 games and Braun has some huge moments then he has a realistic shot. But I think some media members will blackball him. It sucks as he has played great. Hopefully his recent injury doesn't hamper him down the stretch. All we can hope for is the Brewers continue this hot streak through game 163.
  6. Ya, that was very classy. Way to go Brew Crew fans.
  7. Congrats Hunter! Awesome story. 2013 - AAA. 2014 - Hart leaves via FA and Morris starts?
  8. The bad news is 12 of the cards last 25 games come against the padres, cubs and Astros. If the cards go 13-12 we need to go 20-5
  9. I agree with this. We are not losing games due to not scoring runs, we are losing games because our bullpen sucks.
  10. I find it funny that Boston and Miami swapped Beckett and Hanley Ramirez in 2005 and were now both in season 2012 trades to the dodgers ... I also agree that the dodgers are being very NBA -ish ... I hope this turns out bad for them
  11. this is where I am at ... With what is on the minor league horizon I just don't see a 3-4 year deal being offered to any FA pitcher ... That is why I am leaning toward signing Marcum for a 1-year deal
  12. If you were Melvin and you are looking into the window of the 2013 season who would you be looking at to be your starting 5? Here is who I think will be in our starting 5: 1. Gallardo - Contrary to popular belief he is not traded. 2. Marcum is brought back 3. Fiers has guaranteed his spot 4. Estrada - unless he is absolutely atrocious in Spring Training and 1 of the names mentioned below is amazing. 5. Peralta wins a spot To the Pen / Long relief / Marcum Insurance 1. Thornburg - He might go to AAA. As he has 1 season above A ball. 2. Rogers Take a guess: In August 2012, who do you have as our April 2013 starting five? (doesn't have to be guys in our system or currently on our team. If there is a FA, that you believe makes a ton of sense for the Brewers to go get, then mark em down.
  13. I agree with this. If we are going to say lets 100% focus on 2014 then trade Hart. And I would add Aoki into this too as I would imagine his trade value is high. And he is also a FA at the end of 2013. Another person to add to the list is Ramirez as he is coming off an awesome year and has 2 left. But then you are telling the fans you are really throwing 2013 in the air. With a focus being on 2014 as a trade of Hart / Aoki / Ramirez better net me a starting 3B and a starting pitcher.
  14. I read the whole thing but I thought the question of can they contend is a good question. I believe they can, you believe they can't. That's fine. I just don't see how losing Greinke takes us from walking into 2012 thinking we are contenders ... to walking into 2013 as non contenders. Walking into this season all the Analysts said the Brewers won't make the playoffs because they won't be able to replace Fielder. That wasn't our problem. Our bullpen stunk. In 2013, I can hear it already, analysts will be quick to say they won't make the playoffs because they don't have Greinke. I disagree with that. Not that it is your point but it aligns with your point about our starting 5 not being a positive for our ball club. When the difference between this year and next is no Greinke, I just don't feel like it moves the pendulum from contention to non contention. I just feel like that statement negatively reflects our other components for our team which are far from being a negative to the team (i.e. Hitting)
  15. See Page 5 from the Wolf releasing thread. Here is the question in discussion: I guess the part that gets at me with this comment is it too generically states any informed Brewer fan couldn't possibly make an argument that they will be a contender. I don't have the time to make a deep level argument but what about these items, that I not only believe warrant a consideration to contention but potentially make the point? Our position players rank in top half of all of MLB in offensive production Position = Player = AVG (Rank) / OBP (Rank) / SLG (rank) 1. C = J Luc = .325 (2) / .374 (5) / .550 (1) 2. 1B = Hart = .270 (11) / .329 (13) / .500 (6) 3. 2B = Weeks = .215 (18) / .321 (12) / .374 (14) 4. SS = Segura = Wildcard. I am unsure what is projection is for next year. But we had Cesar this year. So I will go with the over. 5. 3B = Ramirez = .286 (5) / .352 (7) / .505 (4) 6. LF = Braun = .308 (3) / .384 (3) / .602 (1) 7. CF = Gomez = .254 (13) / .303 (14) / .458 (7) 8. RF = Aoki = .281 (5) / .350 (9) / .404 (18) Fielding Rank. 1. C = J Luc = .992 (15) 2. 1B = Hart = .989 (4) 3. 2B = Weeks = .975 (18) 4. SS = Segura = .979 (6) (small sample police / don’t knock it ) 5. 3B = Ramirez = .973 (1) 6. LF = Braun = .974 (14) 7. CF = Gomez = .977 (19) 8. RF = Aoki = .989 (5) Breaking the team down into quarters: 1. 1/2 of our team favors them being contenders. (Hitting & Fielding) 2. The bullpen side I would argue is a crap shoot every year. So in my opinion it is probably 50/50 in terms of success vs failure. In the end, I doubt they could match this years performance. So give this half of the quarter as positive (for those counting at home this adds 1/8) 3. Then we get to the starting 5. a. The Brewers starting pitching ranks 15th in baseball ERA this year. (4.12) b. WHIP = 1.29 (15) c. Opponent OBP = .314 (12) d. Opponent SLG = .421 (12) I guess it’s hard for me to believe we are going to be substantially less next year. Wolf was atrocious and won’t be around. You can then factor in the Greinke-less rotation next year. But loosing Greinke is going to take us from middle of the road starting 5 to bottom 10? I don’t see that. Not only would his replacement need to be horrible but Wolf’s too. And even if our rotation is a flop and you count this quarter of the team as a negative that still leaves 5/8’s positive vs 3/8’s negative. So if I had to pick a side I guess I would lean to contender as I don’t see us trading Ramirez / Hart / Aoki and I do see us getting Marcum back. Like I said, this is my opinion but don’t shoot me down and call me an un informed Brewers fan because I feel like we can contend with the team we have. We do have a good team and we do have life in our farm system. So while yes, our 2014 / 2015 years look promising ... I don't see any indication that the 2013 Brewers have absolutely no shot at contention. Just pointing to the fact that Melvin might not go sign Greinke and others doesn't mean 2013 = Brewers suck.
  16. Can we get a split on this thread into a new thread? I will start it ... But these last few comments have nothing to do with Wolf being released. Lets put this thread to bed and let everyone say Good bye Randy - Thanks for the time.
  17. So the question is, do the A's pick him up? He might have some value as a pitcher in the pen. His ERA in the first 2 innings this year is sub 5. LHB, hit .274 against him. I am sure he could end up on a contending teams relief staff
  18. Thanks for the time Randy ... this is a good move for the Brewers as we have a little over a month to get an idea of what the competition of our starting rotation will be ASIS. Lets go Peralta! Does he get called up right away then?
  19. Thanks for the post! I like hearing from the visitors who haven't been to the park and hear what their impression is. I have been to Miller Park so many times, I know it like the back of my hand. But I have been to 8 parks and I will take our park every time. (I do have PNC on my list - and I am sure I will be impressed)
  20. What do Michael Jackson and the Chicago Cubs have in common? They both wear one glove for no apparent reason.
  21. What does the Mets stand for?... My Entire Team Sucks
  22. http://i.imgur.com/nQzJj.jpg This is probably one of the funniest things I have seen on here
  23. I agree. I hope this story continues through 2013. I liked this tweet from Tom H during tonight's game: “@Haudricourt: The talk before game was if Reds would have advantage against Fiers by being 1st team to see him twice. Thus far, I'd have to say no.”
