  1. I guess Wallace is supposed to be starting today for the Astros
  2. My old college roomate from the Twin Cities told me Gomez is the most frustrating player he has ever watched. After Gomez had that nice opening day I thought I might have the last laugh. I couldn't have been more wrong. I hate Gomez!
  3. I personally never thought Fielder was a clutch player. The mojority of his HRs and RBI seem to come in blowout wins and losses. I know he has had his share of big hits, but more often than not he fails when the team needs him most. With that said, I hope he keeps this power surge going so we can get top dollar when he gets traded. I would say I am more concerned with Brauns play over the past month. I can't remeber the last time I have seen his average below .310 not to mention .300.
  4. Agree, they should have been pumping fastballs at Lewis. Curve after curve and he gets the timing down and look what happens.
  5. He really struggles when he need to throw that slider for a strike. Hopefully he can develope that by next year or by seasons end.
  6. Braddock has a nice fastball. If he can get get better control of his breaking stuff he will be dominate.
  7. I am with all of you here. Why call up your top catching prospect just to let him ride the pine? He needs to play everyday, and I wish they wouldn't have brought him up just to sit. If he isn't ready yet how will he become ready sitting on the bench? Just stupid!?!?!?!? This season couldn't get any more frustrating.
  8. Yes it is a business, but what does $500,000 K mean to a guy like Hoffman who has been collecting checks in the big leagues forever. Most of the greats know when they have nothing left to offer, and quit before they make fools of themselves. Anyone who can call themselves one of the greats should have enough respect for their team and the game to call it quits.
  9. What needs to happen from this point on for the Brewers to have any hope this season and beyond. 1. Hoffman needs to retire and save face. There is no spot for him on the team. I could care less that he is looking to get 600 saves. The Brewers owe him nothing. I never thought Melvin should have resigned him in the first place. 2. Zach Braddock needs to be call-up to fill the roster spot vacated by Hoffman. He doesn't have to close right away (Carlos can fill that role for a while), but he is our closer of the future. Zach had one hick-up in Triple-A, but has been back to his dominate self since. 3. Bye-Bye Suppan! Eat the money and cut him. 4. As far as I am concerned Davis and Bush can go as well, but it won't happen. 5. Melvin needs to go! He hasn't shown any ability to put together a pitching staff, and he hasn't brought in a staff that can get anything out of the players. He has made questionable signing after questionable signing of aging pitchers. Melvin has also shown he has no ability to draft pitching either. Jeffress? Adams? Fredrickson? Heckathorn? Arnett? None of these guys have done anything yet to impress me. Odorizzi is the only SP in our system that I think could develop into an ace. I read a post about how he brought the Brewers back from the dead; so we owe him a longer leash. No we don't! He hasn't brought them back from the dead. He made one ok trade for Sabathia, which got the Brewers a playoff appearance. Currently, his questionable moves with his management staff and pitching have made the team look more dead than ever. 6. Prince gets traded. This trade needs to provide us with good young pitching. This trade is why Melvin has to go. If they decide to move Prince does anyone really want Melvin engineering the deal?? NO!! I love Prince, but I would rather see him traded than walk, because you know he isn't going to sign an extension. **I would much rather watch Brewers loses with a bunch of young guys on the field that offer some kind of hope for the future**
  10. It doesn't bother me that he doesn't have much power. All he needs to do is get on base. Everyone needs to remember he is only 22 years old and he will develop more power. I will take a 300 hitter with limited power over a guy like Corey Hart who is going to bat .250 and get an extra base hit every once in a while. There is plenty of power in the line up all the Brewers need is to get the top of the order on base and they will score runs. I hope Kendall doesn't come back.
  11. I like your idea of trading Corey Hart for pitching, but why go after Doumit? We have a great catching prospect in Jonathan Lucroy. I would like to see the order like this: 1. Escobar (I have seen some threads calling him the teams worst hitter?? How?? If he can draw some more walks he will be a great lead off guy) 2. Weeks 3. Braun 4. Fielder 5. Gamel 6. Lucroy 7. Gomez 8. Gerut/Cain I guess we can talk all we want about the speed of Escobar, Gomez, and Weeks, but the manager is Macha; so the team will probably end the year with 20 stolen bases total. Trade McGehee he is going to be a one year wonder and have zero value by seasons end.
  12. I am sure this isn't the first time someone has tried to give their two cents to what they think the line up should be, but I am bored and wanted to get some other peoples opinions. Batting Order: How I think it will start out 1. Weeks 2B 2. Hart OF 3. Braun OF 4. Fielder 1B 5. McGehee/Gamel 3B 6. Lucroy C 7. Gomez CF 8. Escobar SS 9. Pitcher What I would like to see my mid season 1. Escobar 2. Weeks 3. Braun 4. Fielder 5. McGehee/Gamel 6. Lucroy 7. Hart 8. Gomez I think Escobar can be a great lead off guy for the Crew. In his time up this past year he showed me two main things, he can hit .300 and has speed. He needs to draw some more walks but that will come along with some more power. I like Weeks in the two hole because he will get on base one way or another and has some good pop. If the 1 and 2 hitters can consistently get on the Brewers will score a lot of runs. As far a McGehee goes I could see him getting traded for pitching. I don't think he is for real and I would like to see him traded while he has some value. On the flip side I don't like Gamel's defense either; so i don't really know who will end up playing 3B. I am sure it will be a platoon based on the pitching matchup. I like Lucroy a lot he has a great approach at the plate and will extend a lot of innings by getting on base and will offer some power as well. Hart needs to be traded as well. We have depth at out field in the organization and I have never really been very high on him. If he stays I think he and Gomez round out the order nicely. A little power and speed at the bottom can't hurt. Pitching: SP- Gallardo SP- Bush SP- Suppan SP- Parra SP- Rivas The Crew has to pursue at free agent SP. Not a warm body that will post a mid 5.00 ERA, but a solid SP to follow Yovani. I hate Bush, Suppan, and Parra is a head case that has some potential; so in my mind only one spot is locked and that is Gallardo. I would like to see Amaury Rivas get a chance to make the rotation. He is the most major league ready pitching prospect we have outside of Parra. It would be nice to see a Mark Rogers sighting this year as well. That probably won't happen, but he pitched well last year in the minors and is finally healthy. It is depressing that the Brewers don't have many pitching options in the Minors. They do have a ton of good pitching prospects, but none that are even close to being ready.
  13. Trade Hardy, hands down. Hardy is a mediocre bat with occasional power. Everyone in this forum knows his HR totals come from two or three hot weeks in a season, and all the other time he is 2.30 hitter with zero speed. He is a solid big league defender, but he has little range. Also, you need to factor in the contract and the $$$. Escobar brings speed and a lead off hitter to the Brewers. He also has great range and can pick it with the best of them. He does need some work on keeping his throwing errors down, but his D will get better with more time in the bigs. He is a potential 300 hitter who will most certainly develop more power. Even in slumps he has plenty of speed to beat out infield singles as we have seen in his short time with the team this year. This one is a no brainer to me. Why would you trade cheap$$ potential when you can trade away much higher dollar mediocre? The only problem with trading Hardy is he did so horrible this season he has little value right now. I honestly would like to see him stay with the Brewers to start 2010 and have Alcides start the year in Huntsville. They could then see if Hardy can pick up his game to drum up some trade value while Alcides gets a little more time to get seasoned in AAA. Either way go Crew
