  1. My proposal would go something like this: WEST DIVISION #1 Los Angeles Dodgers Los Angeles Angels San Diego Padres Arizona Diamondbacks WEST DIVISION #2 San Francisco Giants Oakland Athletics Seattle Mariners Portland MIDWEST DIVISION #1 Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox MIDWEST DIVISION #2 St. Louis Cardinals Kansas City Royals Colorado Rockies Texas Rangers SOUTH DIVISION #1 Houston Astros Atlanta Braves Miami Marlins Tampa Bay Rays SOUTH DIVISION #2 Washington Nationals Baltimore Orioles Pittsburgh Pirates Cincinnati Reds EAST DIVISION #1 New York Yankees New York Mets Boston Red Sox Philadelphia Phillies EAST DIVISION #2 Toronto Blue Jays Montreal Expos Detroit Tigers Cleveland Indians PLAYOFFS: -Division Winners make the playoffs -4 Wild Cards (best record of team in West, Midwest, South and East divisions to not win division) -Wild Card winner plays the Division winner within their Division with worst record. For example, the Brewers win the Midwest #1 Division and Rockies win the Midwest #2 Division, with the Brewers having the better record between the two. The Twins have the best record of the teams in the Midwest Divisions that didn't win the division. Twins play @ the Rockies in a play-in game to determine who moves onto the Divisional Series to play the Brewers. -Winner of the West and Midwest Divisional Series & the winner of the South and East Divisional Series play in the League Championship Series. -Winners of those meet in World Series. EXAMPLE PLAYOFF (assumes second team in Division Winners has the worse record of the division winners) West Division Winners: Giants and Padres West Wild Card: Athletics West Wild Card Winner: Padres West DLS: Padres @ Giants West DLS Winner: Padres Midwest Division Winners: Brewers and Rockies Midwest Wild Card: Twins Midwest Wild Card Winner: Twins Midwest DLS: Twins @ Brewers Midwest DLS Winner: Brewers South Division Winners: Nationals and Astros South Wild Card: Orioles South Wild Card Winner: Orioles South DLS: Orioles @ Nationals South DLS Winner: Nationals East Division Winners: Phillies and Indians East Wild Card: Tigers East Wild Card Winner: Indians East DLS: Indians @ Phillies East DLS Winner: Indians LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES West vs. Midwest: Padres vs. Brewers Winner: Brewers South vs. East: Nationals vs. Indians Winner: Indians WORLD SERIES Brewers vs. Indians I would love to see this proposal play out. The advent of the Wild Card by division would hopefully eliminate those teams which are divisional winners with possible .500 or so records as they will have to play in a Wild Card play-in game. Additionally, you still have somewhat of a regional rivalry with other teams in your "division". Think of the two divisions per geographical area as the B1G West and East with a Conference Championship game. So while the Dodgers-Giants and Cubs-Cardinals are not in the same division, they do play in the same "division." This proposal makes so much sense to me and I would love to see it implemented.
  2. http://www.baseballamerica.com/columnists/expansion-trigger-realignment-longer-postseason/?utm_content=buffer74167&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer#Mbm5CdMxttImIi9F.97 I don't know what to make of this. I disagree with the proposed realignment plan so I will ignore it. 4 divisions of 8 teams would make some sense and would certainly work even if I were to prefer 8 divisions of 4 teams. I like some aspects of the elimination of the NL-AL as it will finally put all the big market east coast teams in one division (Yankees, Mets, Red Sox) but dislike it from a historical standpoint. With the advent of Interleague Play though, the NL-AL divorce is inevitable in my opinion especially once the DH is either universally adopted or abolished. I do think the placement of a team in Portland (a natural rival to Seattle) would be a good add, as well as adding a new (old) team in Montreal.
  3. I like it. What about Villar for Gordon straight up with the Brewers eating all salary?
  4. Phillips certainly has looked the part on defense and has a great eye at the plate. I am quite the fan of his.
  5. I'll take 7-0 run please SECONDED!
  6. My big fear...we are tied for the Wild Card heading into the weekend. The Rockies win 1 of 3 against the Dodgers...Cardinals sweep us and we are 1 back at the end of the season. The devil magic always ruins our best chances and most fun seasons (1982, 2011). Alas, 2017 the year the devil curse was broke!
  7. As it lines up now, assuming the Dodgers do not rest players, the Rockies will get a Kershaw-Darvish-Wood trio in Denver this weekend.
  8. Come on Brew Crew! Sweep and we're in first! To paraphrase Stephen Vogt's nickname: I BELIEVE IN THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS
  9. Wilkerson, physically, reminds me of Marcum. Had to look twice.
  10. No, that still won't make me happy. What would make me happy is if TT drafted better. He's over-stayed his welcome by 4-5 years already. As for Watt, of course the Packers should drafted him. He's exactly the type of LB they needed, and have needed for years. But to this day I don't think anyone in GB knows what type of players are need to play the 3-4. Yes they do. They are former college DE that need 4+ years to be turned into LBs.
  11. Typical Cardinals... Root for them to lose every game, they win. Root for them to help our chances in the NL Central race, they lose. Even if it hurt their chances as well, typical of them to hurt us win or lose now.
  12. I think my surprise really comes from Gila River or any Native American reservation proposal dying. As someone who doesn't frequent casinos, I would think the draw of an MLB team would only increase attendance at casinos during those games much like attending Talking Stick when I saw the Brewers play the Rockies. I am sure the numbers have been run and they don't pencil out, but my mind just assumes it would be a good move by a tribe.
  13. Even better - knock the Cubs out of the division title, then Colorado beats Chicago and St. Louis for the 2nd wild card. That would be fun. As fun as that would be...just get in!! Even if we lose against the Diamondbacks in the Wild Card, the experience this team has gained this season being in first, losing first and somehow righting the ship and playing their way back into the playoffs will only help in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
  14. So drafting for need instead of BPA? And had they drafted Watt would you say they are wasting the best years of Rodgers by not addressing their most obvious need?
  15. If you watched the Packers last year, and even in yesterday's game, the weakness on D was not with the pass rush. When healthy, Clay, Perry, Daniels consistently make the push. It was quite evident at the end of last year, the true deficiency was CB. Randall, Rollins and Gunter all looked like 4th or 5th CBs. While House could be a 2 or 3, it was apparent CB was the largest need. King was the best player at the position left and Biegel was an added bonus. If Watt had been say a Trojan or Seminole or Longhorn, the hand-wringing would be much less. It's because Watt is one of our own that we have a what-if perspective.
  16. Why can't we have nice things? Is the tear something that will keep him out for any part of next season?
  17. I completely get it. I'm one of the worst at times. But it would be great if we had some people on these boards be leaders (and I'm not calling out the mods, just people in general) and not let this stuff keep rearing it's ugly head. Like I tried to put earlier was that had Adam just said Garza sucks, yada yada yada... none story. But how he wrote his post (and I've done it too) just creates bickering and dislike for one another. It just doesn't need to happen. These forums are awesome but we can actually make them better if we so choose to. Definitely agree with you there. Just not wanting to take all of our frustrations on this horrible series out on each other and create animosity. I am beyond angry with this team and had every intention of coming on here and ripping everything but thought what good would that do. So frustrated but not looking to pick a fight with a fellow poster.
  18. @Brew4U: I get your perspective but I think you need to understand the frustration some of us feel in the game thread. Game threads are typically reactionary and are prone to huge emotional swings. I am very much invested in this Brewer team and to see them stink as bad as they have in this series only leads to significant frustration and wild emotions. I love this team but am so angry with them the past three days I wonder why I invest so much in them and begin to hate everything Brewers. What happens next? I am back watching and hopeful the very next day. I guess the point is we all love the Brewers and seeing them blow a shot at the playoffs is exceptionally frustrating but we all handle it differently.
  19. Melting down late in the season, even in one where they weren't expected to make the playoffs, is a Brewer tradition. It is so frustrating to take 2 of 3 from the Rockies and Dodgers and 3 of 4 from the Nationals, then to get swept by the Reds. Anything short of a sweep of the Cubs and this season is likely going to end without the Brewers in the playoffs.
  20. If you want his hot bat in the lineup, put him at 2B or SS. No excuse for him to be in CF when Sogard hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire. Put Aguilar at 1B for the slumping Thames and Villar at 2B. Give Arcia a day and put him at SS. Villar should never see the OF especially given the "contender" status.
  21. Borderline Kotsay in CF in the playoffs. This is not a time to experiment with Villar in CF when you're 1.5 games out of a playoff spot. Phillips and Broxton make the play. Unreal
  22. I think this is the opinion that is closest to mine. The only differences I would have is Braun in LF as the only regular. Brinson/Phillips/Santana rotate in CF and RF and in LF when Braun needs a day off. These three should accumulate somewhere close to 500 PAs. Perez should almost never see the OF unless it is a true defensive replacement as Braun starts to age and Santana needs to be pulled. Trade Broxton for the best offer you can get. Maybe package him to increase the return. Interesting thought...deal Broxton to SF for Will Smith?
  23. Would be fun if it did happen. Essentially would have gotten Andrew McCutchen and Trey Supak for Jason Rogers. That would be amazing.
  24. If there were 4-5 teams in the Tucson area, this may make more sense as a spring training site. Without a single other team, I would prefer the Brewers remaining in Maryvale (and I am one of the loudest proponents of them moving out of that area).
