  1. Yea, I still think Freddy is getting the ball in game 1 if the Brewers are able to line up their pitching staff.
  2. And that's basically where the similarities end. B-ref hasn't updated yet for yesterday's game, but entering yesterday Durbin had an OPS+ of 103(and it'll go up since he went 2-2), and has played elite defense at 3B. Ortiz might bring the defense but has an OPS+ of only 63. Durbin has been worth 2.2 bWAR, tied with Isaac Collins, Christian Yelich & Jackson Chourio for 5th on the team. Durbin has been awesome.
  3. This is the one legitimate gripe I have with the deadline as well. That said those guys didn't really move. Willie Castro & Ramon Urias can't play SS well. IKF didn't get traded(for some reason?). Correa was only accepting a trade to Houston. Maybe Caballero?
  4. Logically speaking, if you are going to remove their best games then you should also remove their worst games. Or just use median instead of average, in which case their median runs scored in a game is 5
  5. Padres gave up all those prospects and didn't even land a projected impact guy. Fangraphs gives them a 5.7% chance to win the World Series, B-Ref gives them a 3.1% chance. Woof
  6. We are on Matt Arnold's 3rd season as GM of the Brewers and I think we can see some stark differences between him & David Stearns. Matt Arnold hasnt signed a single free agent to a multi year deal(unless you count Hoskins PO) whereas Stearns signed several(Cain, Lindblom, Wong, Garcia, Albers, Chacin, Thames, Bradley) & Arnold has only made practical moves at the trade deadline whereas Stearns turned Travis Shaw into a 2B and traded away Hader. Both were great at player development and talent evaluation, but its clear Stearns was much more aggressive with free agents & trades than Arnold is. Both are great GMs and idk that I have a preference between the two but its interesting. Curious how this board views these two
  7. Lockbridge is the exact archetype the Brewers have had success with. Given the Brewers didn't get any salary relief and parted with Cortes and a decentish prospect, I think they specifically wanted Lockbridge
  8. Wait do you think Henderson is a more valuable prospect then Pratt?
  9. Durbin is 3rd on the team in WAR this season. Suarez would be an upgrade but Durbin has been really good. The power would be nice but Suarez would be a downgrade defensively and on the basepaths. So no I would not give up a top 50 prospect in MLB for the upgrade from Durbin to Suarez
  10. Atleast now we have something of substance to debate here. Because there is zero chance I would give up Cooper Pratt for 2 months of Suarez. I don't believe Suarez is enough of an upgrade over Durbin(who has been really good) to make that deal worth it
  11. Maybe people wouldn't make assumptions if you'd be willing to say what prospects you'd be willing to part with?
  12. Cruz is a brutal SS. One of the worst defensive SSs in MLB. However if plus defensive SS, a BA over .250, and being on the Pirates is what you're looking for then IKF is your man
  13. Id love to grab IKF from Pittsburgh. He would be a fairly significant upgrade over Monasterio as the utility guy and if Ortiz struggles hed be a solid replacement there too. I think people are sleeping on him because he isnt a power bat(which I'd also like to see them acquire) His WAR since 2020 2025: 1.3 2024: 3.6 2023: 0 2022: 2.9 2021: 3.9 2020: 2.1(shortened season)
  14. I used to very much have the Championship or bust mentality with my sports teams. Then I realized I just wasn't able to enjoy watching my teams because I was constantly wondering how they would fare in the playoffs. When the Bucks won the 2021 Championship I realized the journey was half the enjoyment of it. So now I enjoy games as I watch them and hope for the best. I've been around long enough to see when my teams are run poorly and when they are run by smart people and this Brewers team is run by very smart people. I said as much when we made the Priester trade, did I think it was a good deal? No, but I had faith that Arnold & co. saw something in Priester to give up as much for him as they did and turns out that was the right way to look at it
  15. So again I'll ask, what's the point of watching the Brewers before october if they can't bring you enjoyment until then?
  16. At this point it doesn't seem anything they do in the regular season will make you happy, so why even pay attention before October? Obviously we all want more playoff success than we've had, but we are unable to answer that question until October, so I'm enjoying the ride until then. I also pointed out that the Brewers made an aggressive in season trade and for some reason you don't think that counts.
  17. Let's wait and actually see what Arnold does before we judge him for his deadline performance
  18. I mean they gave up one of their better prospects, a comp pick, and another prospect. It's the most aggressive trade they've made in years. And they acquired a guy whose been awesome for them this year. So yes I would say that qualifies as a big trade. There is a good chance the Brewers will acquire more WAR this season in the Priester trade than any team will acquire in any other in season trade made this year.
  19. They made a big trade. They traded one of their better prospects and a comp pick for Quinn Priester
  20. Another? How many garbage trades do you think he's made?
  21. Priester's last 7 starts, he is THRIVING right now 6 IP, 1 ER 5 IP, 1 ER 6 IP, 2 ER 6 IP, 1 ER 5.1 IP, 3 ER 5 IP, 1 ER 5 IP, 1 ER
  22. According to Baseball Reference, Turang has been worth 2.5 WAR, Chad Patrick has been worth 1.4 WAR. The 2nd highest on the team is Freddy at 1.7 WAR
  23. Turang has by far been the most valuable Brewer this season and it isn't particularly close. It should be him, not sure it will be though
  24. That might be true of the older generation, but it's hardly true of the younger generation. I'm 33 and neither I nor a single member of my social circle watch local news. I get all my local news from places like reddit and social media My mom still does though every night.
