I'll be at the game today! LF bleachers! All fingers & toes crossed that they can pull it out today. All comes down to which team can handle the pressure. Hopefully its Yo and the Crew!
From Tom Haudricourt I just contacted Melvin to ask if he would expand his trade inquiries to include a backup center fielder and he said "possibly." Considering how low-key Melvin usually is about trade intentions, I took that as a yes.
I like it. Corey is more comfortable at the top of the order. Rickie so far has provided good protection for Prince. With less of a pressure spot in the order McGehee even seems to be coming around a little.
I agree with most of you guys that Loe's only value is facing RH hitters. He just can't be used against LH hitters. Especially LH power hitters. He hangs that slider too often and LH just jump all over it. His sinker is ineffective against a lot of LH because lefty like pitches down.
McGehee looked horrible offensively & defensively again last night. His swings looked just terrible. His defense is just atrocious. There were a couple of ground balls that went between him and Betancourt that he didn't even try to get. At least make an effort. Both McGehee and Betancourt have no range at all. These 2 definitely don't help our pitching staff out at all.
I just don't see the Crew being able to make a trade to really help them. They just can't afford to continue to trade top prospects. If they are able to make a trade SS must be upgraded. Other idea's DFA Wilson and bring up Green. Either that or send Casey down and bring up Green. RR NEEDS to stop messing around with his bullpen. Loe is NOT an 8th inning guy PERIOD. Use him in mop up duty only. Saito was brought in to be the 8th inning guy. Use him now! Yuni B as your 5th hitter? Really? Get rid of Kotsay. Make Gamel your 5th OF. He can't possibly be any worse defensivley than Kotsay has been. Much more upside as a hitter also.
Don't know if this was posted or not. But looks like other people besides Brewer fans are questioning why YB is playing every day also. http://bit.ly/jNxl4j
First the positives: His players really like him. The infield shifts. Now the negatives: Staying with Gomez in the 2 spot way way to long. Using Loe as his exclusive "8th inning" guy. Keeping Nieves around as long as he did when it was obvious he couldn't hit ML pitching anymore. Not moving McGehee down in the order. Bettancourt. His refusal to intentionally walk hitters to set up force plays and give your team a chance. So the negatives greatly out weight the positives I guess I'd have to give him a low C- teetering on a D+
