  1. I hadnt considered that but it would be a nice thing. I think he might be able to get there.
  2. Man if Koskie can rake like this in the regular season and OPS in the mid .800s this lineup will look awfully sweet. Jenks appears ready to start the regular season too. He looked really comfy at the plate last week when I was down their.
  3. Is it becoming concerning that Weeks will have had only a few games next week before kicking off the regular season? This minor injury seems to be eating up his entire spring training. Is he a question mark for April 3rd?
  4. I was in Arizona all last week so I am not sure if it was discussed but his bomb in Scottsdale was EPIC. I was in the right field grass area and when he hit it I thought it would wind up in medium cf due to the monstrous height. Instead it just kept going up and up and eventually carried just to the right or OVER the 430 ft (30 ft high) cf fence. It looked like, from my angle that it cleared the wall but I can say for certain that it WOULD have cleared it if it would have needed to. It was monstrous.
  5. dhonks I was at the game as well. Was Powell with his wife and 3 daughters? I moved out to the rf grass and sat down because our seats sucked and a bit later a person I thought was Powell came and sat with his family right in front of us. They only stayed for something like the 7th and 8th innings and then left. I am pretty sure it was him though. I looked at him as he left and he must have known I was trying to figure out if it was him because he gave me a nod as he walked by. Anyway Cruz's shot was enormous. That was the coolest Hr I have ever seen in person. Towering beyond belief.
  6. I hate hearing about fielder being dinged up already. ugh.
  7. No. He sort of grazed it. The resulting wound developed an infection though. It was allergic to the medication and slipped into a coma. It only responded to the swooshing BONG! sound on "A Current Affair" and I hate that show. Obviously you can see why I hate Beltran now.
  8. I agree. That would be a statistical miracle. .808 in back to back seasons? The odds are against it.
  9. speaking of Beltran his early 20's look an awful lot like hall. at 22 he OPS'd at .791 dipped to .675 at 23 and popped up to 807 at age 24. Same pattern hall has displayed at ages 23, 24 and 25.
  10. Hall should change his name to something cool like Carlos Beltran so people would forgive his numbers from when he was in his early 20's and look to the future to see how good he could be at ages 26-30.
  11. that "good little player" ranks 6th in MLB among thirdbasemen in OPS.
  12. why does age and progression seem to apply to every player other than bill hall?
  13. . Now I have to be in the minority to voice my opinion? Ok boss.
  14. That is only the begining of his troubles. Soon after that debate here he modified it and turned his season aroun, by the way. He is still light years away from being a quality big league player. He has a lot to overcome before I will consider him a key component of the Milwaukee future. He is not in the league of Weeks, Fielder or Hardy.
  15. Bill Hall OPS at .808. Why is everyone in such a tizzy about 3b in '06 again?
  16. Keep in mind that no one knows what it will take to win the WC. It could be 87 wins or it could be 84. We just dont know. I dont think anyone is going to seperate from the pack and it might come down to 3 or 4 teams tied with 85 wins.
  17. I dont think its "nuts" to say that Helling has made a good enough impression that he will be givin consideration for next year. You have to realise that the rotation could take a very different look if the right trade comes along. I personally dont believe that Overbay alone will get melvin what he wishes in return. It might take a Davis/Overbay package to get an impact player in return.
  18. Helling is cowboying up! Man......he is putting himself in contention for the number 5 in '06.
  19. Can I add a few? 11. Give up an earned run in the first five innings 12. Allow the Brewers to get blown out with the season on the line. 13. Please some fans despite an era of around 2.50 Get off his back. He has done a heckuva job.
  20. I didnt get a chance to say it before the game....but in my opinion todays game is the first..... MUST WIN game of the season. A win and they remain alive. A loss pounds another nail in the coffin.
  21. This is the kind of game that you look at and say "if Ned Yost allows Lance Berkman to win this game tonight he should be fired".
  22. anyone notice how bad houstons order sucks? If Milwaukee had Vizcaino batting 3rd Brewerfan.net might self destruct.
  23. Clutch exists in my opinion. It may come done to biological reactions. Fight or flight. Release of adrenaline into the body. All factors that may help a player in a stressfull situation. Clutch may also be looked at backwards. Not completly messing up under pressure may be just as good as totally thriving under pressure. Perhaps look at a ground ball to short with 2 outs in the ninth in game 7. Is it clutch to pick the ball up and throw the runner out? Not really but an anti clutch move would be to tighten up and wing it into the 4th row. If there is anti clutch there must be clutch. The universe is made up of opposites and therefore it must exist.
  24. Not even close. My problem with the stat is this. It has nothing to do with how often a player hits a line drive. It only refers to the number of balls put in play that are considered line drives. Thats fine and dandy but it doesnt tell us ANYTHING. The stat gives the impression that guys who strike out all time time hit more line drives then guys who put the ball in play. Its total garbage. I will try to keep this brief because long posts sometimes get ignored. Jones ....10 ab....8k....1 line drive. 2 balls put in play, one line drive for a Line drive average of .500. Anderson 10 ab 2 k 4 line drives. 8 balls put in play, 4 line drives for an average of .500. Clearly Anderson hits 2 times as many line drives in 10 abs as Jones but they have the same Line Drive Average because it only counts balls put in play. A Player could Fan 99 times in a row and hit one line drive and have a line drive average of 1.000. Thats stupid. Jones has
