  1. I think Sveum went out last night. A couple of awful sends in this game. We got the lead but Jesus Dale. Not a good move. Lets Go GAGNE!!!!!
  2. Lets go Cam. You have been quiet today.
  3. What are you talking about? Just want to bash Ned? If his ACL was torn the trainer would have found that and Yo would not have been able to push off his leg if that were the case. Not sure what you are getting at here.
  4. So we are supposed to bring in Gagne in the 7th. No we should not do that.
  5. Now this if funny? Why in the heck would Uecker have a bluetooth in his ear during a game? That is funny.
  6. Better question is, what was done out in the bleachers when it happened? I doubt anyone kicked them out or anything was even made of it. It is a circus in wrigley and drinking and stupid fan behavior is part of the game I guess.
  7. Is he trying to say some things to get him in Marty Breneman territory? Nice work Bill
  8. This joke is getting old. I guess he pulled Braun and Fielder again today as well.
  9. So it was more of a "hope-and-run"? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif "Run-and-hope" is probably more like it. Well Counsell might have swing if it wasn't so far inside. I think its the right call but he is not going to swing at that.
  10. Definately going to be a pitchers day from the looks of things. He is calling everything a strike.
  11. That changes the inning a bit. Great call blue!
  12. Can any of you seriously justify the "contact play"? I could justify any play. If that ball is hit 2 feet either way the run scores. There is a fine line on that play and when it doesnt work someone will rag on him. But if it works and we steal a run, it was great baserunning or some other reason, just not "a great move byYost". Obviously in your eyes you are always going to be right but every decision will have some that liked it and some that get upset about it. My point of the previous post was exactly that. What are these gimmicks you speak of? I have no idea what that means. Ned has a way of doing things and it really pisses some off. Who says the ways posted on here are the right way of doing something? Except the whole hindsight 20-20 thing. And ya, I know, you said it before it happened. But I read the in games. People say things all the time and repeat that after the fact. But how many times do they say we should do something, Ned does it the opposite way, and it works. Like last night. Saying how we should have gone to the lefty, which would have led to at least one more pitcher being used, and Mota did just fine. Small example but my point is there is always someone yelling for something else to happen and sometimes they are right and sometimes wrong. But you only hear about the times where they were right and Ned was wrong.
  13. Thanks strawboss. I am in the camp that says Ned gets wayyyy more heat than deserved. I think the manager does much less to decide the games than people think. But what he does effect in the games seems to be more positive than most will like to see. At least you have some numbers to back it up instead of the same stuff we hear everyday. I simply disagree with always wanting to change the pitcher or he isnt using a pinch hitter or he didnt bunt a guy over, etc...If we listened to the game thread we would use every pitcher in every game. We always need to use the loogie pitchers and matchup. I left the in game last night after hearing that Mota shouldnt be facing the lefty. We had a three run lead. Another example of over managing imo. But I really think this Ned talk has gotten out of control and apparently Ned is dumb because he does things one way and everyone else is correct. I don't understand how someone can leave a post that says Ned has had more (or less) bad moves this year. Whos scale is that on? Who says if it is right or wrong? The beauty of baseball is having options and while it can be debated, I have no idea how anyone can say that Ned has done things wrong or right. It will always be easier to say them while they are sitting in a bar or at home. I prefer to watch the game, get upset when we are losing (especially to the cubs) and excited when we win. But to blame everything on the manager has become a phenomenon in itself and now people are just joining that crowd and taking it to a new level.
  14. I was just wondering if this was the same bush that most wanted sent away for good. early on in the year? The guy has been killed around here and now there is talk and actual controversy as to him being sent down. I find it funny seeing all the talk of him in the other thread, especially the game threads. I would have preferred Parra but tthought I would chime from what I have read and seen in past threads.
  15. Ok I just dont get where this names out of a hat thing is coming from. I dont think that is very accurate.
  16. Ok but the lineup is still the same except for two guys getting the day off. For all the business Hall and Weeks have gotten, I wouldnt think having either of them sit as an issue. (pared back nested quote --1992)
  17. What is different in the lineup? Gwynn was tabbed to play against righties when healthy. Hall and Kendall are given a day off. Counsell has been hitting and Kendall has cooled off and needed a day off. Nothing major in the changes.
  18. And CLEARLY, it was a mistake and Gross said that is was shocking and a weird thing to do. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
  19. Braun did make the decision and Yost is not allowing him to do it. He just does it on instinct, much like tagging on a questionable fly to right, or going 1st to 3rd on a hit. There is a decision making process and the manager just isn't going have a pregame meeting and state, "No stealing 3rd today or don't tag up on a ball to center. Your just not going to make those blanket statements to your players. If Braun steals that base and the next pitch is a wild pitch we are all saying how great his hustle was. Yost has nothing to do with this stuff and Sveum on has some decision making in some of those things. Alot of these things are just a decision making process and some are better than others. Great example is the play in New York. If there actually was this much control on his players, no way Hart scores on the bunt because Yost should have told him to stay on third because we are simply using the sac bunt here. No way should he have taken that chance of scoring on a bunt. But they say Hart is one of the best instinctive baserunners and is great at those things. Ok I am done with this but I still don't think there is an understanding. Managers do less that we think. Players can make you look very good or very bad. (pared back long quote --1992)
  20. Ok I will try to explain this because this is where the problem lies I think. You can't just say you are going to get a jump from 2nd on any given pitch. So Yost, Sveum, or whomever you want to blame have nothing to do with this. The runner goes only when they know they can get to 3rd. So Braun thought he could get there without a problem and was wrong. So you can say Sveum can't Macarena and Yost is to blame but it sounds silly. This is a HUGE reach. Braun or any other player can steal third if they know they can make it. He might not take the chance going forward seeing he got caught but he had done it before and was safe. But in the end I don't see how Ned has anything to do with this just as he didn't when Hart got thrown out at 3rd with no outs the other day. I guess Sveum should have ran out to 2nd and tackled him. Sometimes players have a mind of their own. (eliminated unnecessary quoted material --1992)
  21. I don't know where to begin on this one. And this is what I don't get about people who dislike Ned. Saying he doesn't understand baseball? So now your opinion and hindsight 20-20 decisions are always right? And I know the defense here is, "I wanted to infield at DP depth there", but we never hear about all the times you are at home and Ned's decision works and your didnt. My point is, why does he know nothing and the people sitting at home are correct in their thinking. This is funny. And I have no idea how watching other games you don't see the same types of decisions being made. I won't even go into this one because if you don't, you clearly just hate Ned and will say anything to bash the guy. And lastly, if you believe coaches send in a sign to steal third base, we might be dealing with bigger problems on the baseball knowledge front. That is always an instinct play and Braun did that on his own. NO WAY he was told to go. It's something you can't call on a certain pitch. Just can't. I am going to finish by saying Ned haters are really great to listen to but the reasoning for it is getting to the point where the people can't really believe what their saying. Just can't. The infield call is still something that I can say I see no fault at all. It was 0-0 and were acting like if we were at DP depth it would have worked out. Billy didn't exactly look like he was going to make that play. I don't know if we can say that for sure and then to turn the DP is another story. But to say it was the incorrect play, is absolutely, incorrect. But thanks for posting this all after the game. Does alot of good now. (pared back long quote --1992)
  22. This to me is obvious Yost bashing. You do realize that we had not scored a run in the game. We have struggled to score runs and had not scored in this game. One run seems pretty important to me there. So if we were playing at double play depth, who says Billy gets to that ball and if the he does, that the double play is turned? I just dont see how much of a reach it is to see what we were doing there. In a 0-0 game that sounds pretty reasonable whereas in a 8-8 game you don't do it.
  23. Brewers lose and all goes to heck around here. I like to win as much as the next guy but losing about 70 games or so is part of it, even for the playoff teams. I seriously dont think people think about that when they call the team garbage or awful, etc... Things are really good considering our hitting has been "garbage' for most of the season so far. Pick it up tomorrow fellas.
