  1. Not too bad. He's improving that's for sure. He'll still get another start.
  2. Good recovery though. He's not getting bit for multiple runs anymore.
  3. 3 more scoreless innings for Suppan. Gotta love it. I guess he gets a little rough by the 4th inning, but certainly very serviceable and way better than before
  4. It looks like this team seriously wants to make that run for 100 losses.
  5. According to 1250 WSSP, apparently as soon as Suppan got to St Louis they immediately told him he needs to stand up taller and move his hands closer to his chin. And apparently Peterson is a big hands guy and was messing with the pitchers hand placements in training camp. They said that Peterson moved Suppans hands lower. Simply doesn't look good for Peterson. Its rare to hear specifics on how we screwed up a pitcher after we released him.
  6. The Brewers gave Suppan 97 starts, he had an ERA over 5. Maybe you meant we had a pitcher who could go 4 innings with just one earned run ... sometimes. Suppan pitched 4 innings tonight, that hardly makes him the world beater, who was never given a fair shake, you're making him out to be. He was released for his play this year, not any other year. If he had numbers similar to his 1st two years, or even last year, he'd still be on the time. Bottom line is, he got a minimal number of starts and they panicked. The Cards saw our error and capitalized on it.
  7. Jeff Suppan is a starter and a pitcher. Bill Hall is not, and admits it himself. Using even a smaller sample sample size of outings isn't making much of a point. I'm a better pitcher than Jason Marquis. We each had 0.0 innings pitched in our last start. Yet, Jason has an ERA of 20.52.
  8. Okay, so their most recent starts were equivalent, but Narveson has pitched far better both this season and last season. I don't see how Suppan can possibly be the better pitcher at this point...They found the fault in mechanics. Peterson never could. Suppan was never given enough starts this year to establish much as a starter. Each is probably good for 4 runs in 6 innings most of the time. Coming in for spot relief appearances isn't the same. He's getting strikeouts now and more velocity than he ever had here.
  9. If we're going to go ahead and judge pitcher only by their most recent start, Narveson went 7 innings with 2 earned in his last outing...Equivalent starts. Suppan had 4 strikeouts in 4 innings, Narveson 4 in 7 innings.
  10. Yea because Suppan is a better pitching than Parra or Narveson... Probably better than Narveson right now.Dang, I wish the Brewers had someone who could go 4 innings with just one earned run. Oh gee, we did.
  11. Bradley's walk in the 1st was practically intentional. He didn't throw anything close. 2 weak singles in that inning. After that Suppan did an excellent job. 2 of Suppan's 4 hits were defensive swings.
  12. LaRussa did this at the request of Melvin. Too humiliating to have Suppan get a win right after being released.
  13. And the Cardinals take the lead. Suppan in line for a rare win.
  14. Quick recovery for Suppan in the 4th. This outing certainly will buy him another start for the Cards. He's throwing a lot of strikes this time.
  15. This is exactly the kind of thing that needs to happen to make the incompetent Brewers brass wake up. They gave in to fan panic, and the coaches couldn't fix a problem with mechanics. No patience. They never let Suppan start enough games.
  16. It has been pretty obvious that Fielder will not be traded this year, so his production really isn't an issue on that front. The demand is not there, and nobody will be offering what we really need. If there were such a demand, there should have been hints or offers in the past off-season when we clearly had a lot of needs. The best move is to let Fielder finish his current contract and take the draft picks presented to us (either 1st round picks or compensatory) after some team picks him up in free agency. I truly believe that Melvin cannot find any better compensation in a trade as compared to what can be picked up in the draft. Going to the draft will also allow the club to alleve the bloated payroll as well, even if the picks do not pan out. However unlikely it may be, I would find it prudent for the training staff to make sure he was healthy come the end of 2011, and avoid another Ben Sheets type of blunder.
  17. It looks really bad on paper and Vegas knows it. A line of -245 opening for the Cards. This looks to be a massacre.
  18. With that Braddock performance, Suppan is safely entrenched on the roster for another exciting appearance.
  19. Not really trying to help here, but Ken Macha is the manager.....Jim Edmonds has played this year, too......Those don't overcome the stench that has been Suppan's performance... Hawkins has done worse. Hoffman has done worse with the game on the line. Anything less than 4 runs in an inning for a bullpen pitcher seems to be an improvement.
  20. The bullpen reminds me more of an old Miller Lite commercial when they put in Rodney with one out to go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3fra0tS0lk
  21. I doubt it. This team puts up with a lot worse than Suppan. No way they cut him.
  22. Not totally out of the realm of possibilities. I doubt it was popular for Colorado to trade Holliday in 2008 either. As for cheapies, Seattle let Branyan go after hitting a career high 31 HR, albeit he had a herniated disk, but thats very recoverable.
  23. Sheets wasn't signed last year. The proper compensation for that was nothing. The economic or financial disparities between the Brewers and anyone else is simply a bad bottom feeder excuse. Poor management is the Brewers problem, especially now with bloated salaries. The Twins, Rays, Marlins, and Rockies are doing fine with small markets and pretty low payrolls.
  24. This team is putrid garbage.. The incompetence on this club shows no bounds. They have one of worst pitching staffs in the league, yet again. I don't care what the consequences are, I want Melvin gone. His judgement has been horrible, and since Jack Z left, this team is spiraling into oblivion. As for Macha, its hard to blame a guy who is clearly suffering from some kind of senile dementia. Send him to the nursing home.
