  1. I would rather see Blazek up for a spot start than Espino...He has looked pretty fantastic in his starts at AAA. All of his pitches seem to be dialed in.
  2. Thornburg pitched several years at AAA and never did well. Interesting that Cravy in now pitching in later innings at AAA and is probably the only pitcher in organization that hasn't given up a run on the road, two months into season. Guess he's been working on stuff too.
  3. Seeing how Knebel is performing, it will be interesting next year when he's arbitration eligible, how much the Brewers offer.
  4. Problem with Hader is walks...last time I checked he led the PCL league. At a point when the Brewers fade, bringing him up for some starts couldn't hurt.
  5. So he is useful against lefties? The splits seem like an SSS anomaly based off his minor numbers His career BB% is 8%. That seems fine to me. And if you expand the sample size to include last season's numbers; he has 112 innings of 3.2 ERA and 3.98 FIP. Both of these have to factor in the decision. At a point in time sure, but if the Brewers still feel like they can make adjustments, I'm fine not throwing in the towel without a worthy replacement. How so? Guys with 4.5+FIPs in AAA with 4.5+ ERA projections and fringe stuff don't seem like options at all to me. Its Colorado Springs...check out what Thornburg did while he was there...Era above 9. Cravy's era last year in relief for Brewers was below 1.00 and you don't give him chance...I say if your not going to bring up the guy, release him or take him off 40 man...plenty of other options available. Drake can strike out guys at a well above average clip and Hughes can get ground balls at on elite level. Blazek cannot do those things.
  6. Organizations should be trying to win games at every level. Why not bring up a starter from AA to make a spot start. Instead we have the Skysox taking multiple bullpen days to cover starts thus taxing the squad. Might as well forfeit the game or call the game due to weather Ala weather gate.
  7. We released Stephen Peterson and kept Dillard and Oliver...not very smart imo.
  8. What's a joke is Brewers organization not bringing up starters to AAA when they are playing well. Back to back bullpen games have the bullpen stretched out.
  9. I would have spent 10 million on a solid reliever....Wade Davis, Greg Holland...Brewers spent 6.5 million on the combo of Feliz and Milone so what's another 3.5 Million when you're getting a premium arm...heck we could of had Kintzler for 3 million. What can the Brewers do? Well just sit on the waiver wire pick up more guys that don't cut it or make a trade for a guy or do nothing.
  10. How are those metrics working for Feliz and Stearns? Blazek seems to have turned things around and Wang has been pitching well. Cravy had a relief era under 1 last year, under limited innings. His metrics show he can't get anyone out, but somehow he does. He's been bad in Colorado Springs this year but hasn't given up a run in 2 months on the road. Any of these guys or Hader or Archer should be given a chance at some point. But you never know with Stearns because his advanced metrics show all his relievers are going to turn it around soon. I'm not going to bring up the Milone signing, oh shoot I just did. Well at least he didn't cost as much as Feliz...A million a month gives Feliz around 3 more months before he's gone.
  11. Purely lucky guess.
  12. Phillips will be up before Brinson.
  13. I prefer Scahill over Hughes or Drake...High Whips, low era usually mean they are getting out of trouble that they created fairly consistently.
  14. Catch at least a couple innings of every game.
  15. I always thought he was one of the best defensive catcher's in the organization, sorry to see him go.
  16. Can someone explain to me why we need 3 catchers at AAA?
  17. At some point Stearns is going to trade prospects for whatever position they need to fill. They have very few veteran assets left to sell off. So far the gm has had an easy job of selling and acquiring. The more important job will be trading prospects for key players needed to make a playoff run.
  18. Remember when everyone was calling for Tyler Wagner to be brought up...only to be traded soon afterwards...I could see that happening with several guys.
  19. Hard to say...obviously being a starter has more value. I think the Brewers must be looking at possible trades involving starters at some point, especially with all the pitching prospects coming up thru the system. Moving starters to the pen doesn't always equate to success.
  20. That will depend on the Brewers moving a couple current starters out of the rotation. Can't wait to see what happens when Guerra gets back, especially with Garza performing.
  21. Lopez is in his 3rd year at AA. He should be putting up some good numbers. The Rockies are always looking for pitchers that can handle the high altitude. What kind of haul could we get for Woodruff?
  22. Woodruff is so far ahead of Lopez in my opinion.
  23. Woodruff definitely deserves to be called up first over Lopez. He's far and above the better pitcher. Its easy to take a reliever off the 40 man and put Woodruff on.
