  1. Colorado Springs (and PCL). They brought Sogard up and he caught fire for a while, try it with DeJesus. I'm open to it.
  2. I would love to see the college game go to exclusively wood bats.
  3. They also have a better defense behind them. The previous couple years had some bad defense. Left side of the infield is solid.
  4. You are exactly correct. Matt Arnold coming over from the Rays is going to have a big influence on what they do. He has a lot more experience than Stearns.
  5. assuming that garza's slot on thursday is not the next tba, saturday's starter (essentially junior guerra's spot) is undetermined. brandon woodruff threw 5.0 innings on saturday. Comes down to either Jungmann or Woodruff I imagine. Since Woodruff is still technically on rehab assignment, he's probably the guy. Either way though it's just temporary with 2 starts max. Anderson is close to a rehab assignment and hopefully all goes well and he's back in a couple weeks. Of course by then Garza will probably come up with some other ailment. Is Woodruff on rehab assignment? I thought they sent him down.
  6. Tayler Scott with his first complete inning at AAA Round Rock...0 hits...0 walks...in 1 inning of work. Congrats to him.
  7. Archer is solid and his numbers at AAA are pretty good for Colorado Springs. I hope the Brewers don't overlook him. I think he may be one to watch in the next couple of years and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was grabbed in the Rule 5 draft.
  8. Smoking hot temps for that series in Las Vegas...Last Night was 107.
  9. Another point is if they bring up Wren and he actually does well, then they will need to protect him from being selected in Rule 5 draft, which I don't think the Brewers want to do. At this point making him sit at AAA probably reduces his chances of getting taken.
  10. It's who Stearns or Counsell like, it's not about who actually deserves a shot.
  11. Martinez will probably fan him 3 times tonight. Geesh. [sarcasm]But I thought you liked players that strikeout?[/sarcasm] Well the first 2 ab's were K's...nice call.
  12. Maybe he has good number vs. Cards...who knows...guys flying in and out at a record pace. Whats the record for most moves in a season?
  13. I am up in the air on his option. Injuries and age concern me. He pitched roughly 100 innings last year and will probably get close to that amount this year. Then again, they could move him to the pen, where he would refuse and then they can send him home. I guess some team would take him if the option was used but there is no guarantee that it would happen.
  14. A guy that I really like is Mychal Givens...every talks about Britton but this guy is solid. He's young and controllable.
  15. Just because someone is picked up for basically nothing doesn't mean there isn't a real downside. Pitching bad and losing games is a real downside...If he pitches great, well then there is a real upside. I hope he turns it around and the Brewers get someone else out of it down the road, or better yet he sticks around and performs. In the end, it is about winning games.
  16. This is a great post Ennder..and I'd like to touch on the highlighted quote. First i agree with you that Gray isn't an ace, but Verlander and Darvish are. I also agree with you that they need 4-5 players..Here's what i would have done, and I think you could have done it all without touching Brinson. Now, right or wrong I'm going to base this on the prospect rankings(by system that teams gave up to acquire these players). Now also keep in mind, the topic was about what was needed to compete THIS year...so control is NOT an issue for this comparison. Here's who I would have targeted: Darvish/Verlander Wilson Kinsler Granderson That's 4 guys that touch on the Crew's major weaknesses this year..now who would I have given up to acquire these players?? Again remember, really the only baseline we have to compare is the prospect rankings by organization.. Brewers get: Yu Darvish(the Dodgers gave up their #4, #17 & #27 prospects) Brewers give up: (#4 Brandon Woodruff, #16 Trey Supak(had to substitute him for #17 Ryan Cordell), #27 Larry Ernesto Brewers get: Justin Wilson Brewers give up : Isan Daz and Jacob Nottingham Brewers get: Ian Kinsler Brewers give up: Hard to judge what it would have taken, but given the Brewers would have taken on salary it couldn't have taken too much..so lets just say they give them a top 30 prospect..Let's just say Kodi Medeiros Brewers get: Curtis Granderson Brewers give: Again, hard to say, but let's just say it's a minor piece...pick whoever you want. In looking at this, would that REALLY have been giving up that much for the Brewers in gaining those players?? I don't think so. I'm in agreement on this. I would have tried to get Darvish. Dodgers didn't give up the farm and got a stud for a couple months.
  17. Thanks for posting this...I am going to be in Wichita this weekend and will check it out.
  18. I'll Play. 3 St Louis (1-2) 3 @TB (2-1) 2 @Min (1-1) 2 Min (1-1) 3 Cinci (2-1) 2 Pitt (1-1) 3 @Col (1-2) 3 @SF (2-1) 3 @ LAD (1-2) 2 STL (1-1) 1 Washington (0-1) That puts me at 13-14.
  19. Stearns has a 4-6 year plan...Hopefully the Brewers make the playoffs once in that time period, but if they don't I wouldn't be surprised is he was let go, paving the way for Epstein to swoosh in...joking about Epstein part.
  20. Living in the Midwest, I have the opportunity to see quite of bit of Feliz. His last 14 innings have been good but most of his appearances for KC have been in non save situations. Maybe the pressure of closing was too much for him.
  21. If its built to give guys opportunities, they why don't they continue to bring up more guys from AA or AAA and see what they do? A change of scenery doesn't automatically mean success, look at Milone. Bottom line is...its another guy Counsell knows and is comfortable with.
  22. Wow, would have never thought they would let Calhoun go...I was wrong on that one.
