Final: St. Lucie 8, Brevard County 6 Mets rally in ninth to topple 'Tees, 8-6 Victor Roache tallies three hits in loss By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees http://brevardcounty.manatees.milb.com/assets/images/6/7/8/74367678/cuts/Roache_5.4_5_640x360_ksd5cpss_0jnfws7d.jpg Victor Roache, seen from a game earlier this year, recorded three hits and an RBI in the Manatees 8-6 loss to the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - Despite holding leads of 4-0 and 6-3, the Brevard County Manatees dropped the series finale against the St. Lucie Mets, 8-6 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. Ahead 6-5 going to the top of the ninth, reliever Stephen Peterson got Aderlin Rodriguez to fly out to right to start the frame. After Gavin Cecchini singled to right, Peterson forced Gomez to sky out to center for the second out. However, it was all downhill from there. Maikis De La Cruz poked a single in front of Victor Roache in left to put the tying run in scoring position. The next batter, Jeff McNeil check swung at the first pitch and popped it up in the infield. With the shortstop Brandon Macias playing back with two outs, the ball dropped on the infield grass. By the time the former Kansas Jayhawk fielded the ball it was too late and the bases were loaded. Phillip Evans, after not being in the initial lineup, came to the plate with a chance to be the hero for St. Lucie (17-9 second half, 57-38 overall). On an 0-1 pitch, Evans hit a flare into shallow left. Macias raced out and Roache, whose first step was back, charged in to try and make the game-ending grab. Both players slid feet first, yet the ball landed safely between them. Macias threw the ball back in from his behind, but by then it was way too late. All three runners had safely scored and Evans stood at first with a three-run single. Beck Wheeler, who yielded two runs in game two of Thursday's doubleheader, then came on to close it out. He retired the Manatees in order in the ninth to close out the victory for the Mets. For the second straight night the Mets charge from behind started in the eighth inning. Trevor Seidenberger came in from the bullpen to bridge the gap to the ninth. De La Cruz sparked the rally with an incredible battle to start the inning. With two strikes, the Mets center fielder fouled off six pitches to stay alive. Ultimately, De La Cruz won the fight by striking a double down the right field line. Unlike the hitter before him, McNeil wasted no time to incur his damage. The left-handed swinger cranked the first pitch he saw down the right field line for an RBI double to trim the lead to 6-5. St. Lucie's come-from-behind win, put a damper on another great start by the Manatees offense. Once again, the 'Tees (15-9, 51-39) got on the board in the first three frames by scoring four in the second and two more in the third. After Mets starter Matthew Koch (7-3, 4.61 ERA) retired the first two batters on fly balls, the Manatees bats came alive. Roache lined a single to center and Alfredo Rodriguez followed that up with an infield single that deflected off the pitcher. Macias started the scoring by ripping a single into right field to score Roache and give the Manatees the early advantage, 1-0. The onslaught was not done, as Jose Sermo, last night's walk-off hero, grounded a single to center to drive home another run and push the lead to two. Nathan Orf was then plunked, which loaded the bases for Michael Reed. The Texas native, who drove in two runs in yesterday's game, snuck a ground ball past the shortstop Cecchini and into center field. Both Rodriguez and Sermo scored, but Orf was caught off second base to end the inning. After the Mets put three runs on the board in the top of the third thanks to a three-run blast to right by McNeil, Brevard County's hitters struck again. Tyrone Taylor got it started with a single into right-center and with one out Cameron Garfield drove a single to right, which put runners at first and third. Roache kept the attack in full throttle, as he lined a single into right-center field to score Taylor and bring the lead back up to two, 5-3. Rodriguez then was struck by a pitch to load the bases. Macias brought home the 'Tees final run of the night with a fielder's choice. Cecchini fielded and threw on to third to get the force, Garfield scored from third to increase the lead back to three. Lost in the shuffle was another strong outing from Damien Magnifico. The Florida State League All-Star went 5.2 innings and allowed four runs - three earned - on just three hits. Magnifico walked two and struck out three. The lone unearned run came on an error by Reed, which allowed St. Lucie to score in the sixth. Brevard County will start a four-game road trip tomorrow, as they travel to Fort Myers to start their final series against the Miracle. First pitch at Hammond Stadium is slated for 4:05 p.m. Austin Ross will get the start for the 'Tees against the Miracle's Tim Shibuya. Final: St. Lucie 3, Brevard County 4 Sermo's walk-off blast leads 'Tees over Mets, 4-3 Manatees record second walk-off in a week to stay atop North Division By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees VIERA, Fla. - After not recording a walk-off win all season, the Brevard County Manatees tallied their second victory game-ending victory in a week, as they defeated the St. Lucie Mets, 4-3 at Space Coast Stadium on Friday night. With no one on and one out, Jose Sermo stepped up to the plate against the Mets side-arming, left-handed reliever T.J. Chism. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Sermo uncorked a towering blast that cleared the left-center field wall and landed on the berm. Sermo's home run was his second of the year and the Manatees' (15-8 second half, 51-38 overall) first walk-off home run since T.J. Mittelstaedt's game-winner against Tampa on August 7 of last year. It is also the 'Tees second walk-off victory in a week, as Alfredo Rodriguez drove in the winning run on Saturday night with a fielder's choice against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. However, Sermo's heroics would not have been needed if it were not for a shaky top of the eighth inning. With St. Lucie (16-9, 56-38) trailing 3-0, Manatees reliever Scott Lieser started the frame off strong by retiring the first two batters on a strikeout and a ground out to short. Then Major League rehabber Taylor Teagarden sparked the comeback with a single to right. Jared King and Cam Maron followed suit with a pair singles themselves, as Teagarden scored to trim the lead to 3-1. Joe Ayrault then decided to call on his closer, Mark Williams, to try quell the rally. The right-hander, who was making his first appearance in exactly a week, could not locate his pitches, as he walked Phillip Evans on four pitches to load the bases. It did not get better from there. On a 3-1 pitch, Williams then hit Aderlin Rodriguez on the left elbow to force home a run and cut the Manatees lead down to one. The next batter, Jeff McNeil, proceeded to walk on five pitches. Maron would score to tie the game at three. Williams would battle back and retire the final four batters he faced, two via the strike out, to record his first win of the year. Brevard grabbed the initial lead with a run in the fourth inning. With one out, Cameron Garfield cranked a double to right-center field. After Victor Roache flew out to left, Rodriguez came through with the Manatees first big hit of the game. On a 3-1 pitch, Rodriguez sliced a single through the hole between third and short. Garfield was able to motor home from second to give the Manatees the lead, 1-0. In the seventh, the 'Tees added some cushion courtesy of Michael Reed. Mets starter Kevin McGowan (2-1, 2.78 ERA) began to tire, as he walked both Rodriguez and Brandon Macias to start the inning. St. Lucie manager Ryan Ellis then called upon righty reliever Julian Hilario to stop the bleeding. After a sacrifice bunt advanced both runners and a pop out to second, Reed stepped in. The right fielder grounded a single up the middle to score both Rodriguez and Macias and extend the lead to three. Despite not recording a decision, Hobbs Johnson (9-6, 2.80) pieced together another phenomenal outing. The left-hander surrendered just four hits over six shutout frames. Johnson walked just one and struck out six. With tonight's performance, Johnson has now gone 12.1 innings without allowing a run. The Manatees will look to keep their perch atop the Florida State League North Division when they wrap up their series against the Mets tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Space Coast Stadium. It will be a battle of FSL All-Stars, as Damien Magnifico (6-5, 3.70) will get the start for Brevard against St. Lucie's Matthew Koch (7-3, 4.10). Brevard County Box Score No Orlando Arcia tonight after he left yesterday's game with an undisclosed injury. After having about two weeks off in late June/early July due to rainouts, Hobbs Johnson has been dominant in his last two starts, going 6 and 6.2 innings in his last two starts without allowing a run. Cameron Garfield has been heating up lately, hitting .306 over his last ten games and recorded his third straight multi-hit game tonight. Playing time has been sparse this season for Jose Sermo, but he's hitting .417 in July and has hit safely in four of his last five games. Brevard County Play-By-Play Brevard County Bottom of the 9th Maikis De La Cruz remains in the game as the designated hitter. Pitching Change: T. J. Chism replaces Julian Hilario. Brandon Macias flies out to center fielder Gilbert Gomez. Jose Sermo homers (2) on a fly ball to left field.

Final: Brevard County 2, St. Lucie 3 'Tees drop Game Two to Mets, 3-2 Manatees get go-ahead run on base in seventh, but can't pull ahead By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees struck for two runs in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback, as they dropped game two of Thursday's doubleheader, 3-2 to the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field. Trailing 3-0, Mike Garza started the comeback effort against Mets reliever Beck Wheeler with a double into right-center field. Alfredo Rodriguez followed with a four-pitch walk. After Parker Berberet whiffed on a 3-2 pitch, Brandon Macias walked to load the bases for Nathan Orf. That was all for Wheeler, as the Mets (16-8 second half, 56-37 overall) called on Paul Sewald to try and close out the win. He struck out Orf for out number two, but then Jose Sermo came up with the big blow. Sermo, who came into the ballgame in the fifth when Orlando Arcia left with an undisclosed injury, drilled a double down the right field line. Garza and Rodriguez came across to score, while Macias rolled into third to trim the Mets lead to 3-2. After a two double, two RBI performance in game one, Taylor looked to play the role of hero once again in the nightcap. However, Sewald got the best of him. The right-handed closer forced Taylor to hit a lazy fly ball to shallow center field. Gilbert Gomez camped under it to make the catch to end the ballgame and seal Sewald's seventh save of the year. After the game was scoreless going to the bottom of the fifth, the Mets grabbed the lead despite recording just one hit in the frame. Martin Viramontes came in out of the bullpen and had trouble locating his pitches. The right-hander walked Gomez and Maikis De La Cruz, which set up a bunting situation for the nine-hitter Eudy Pina. Pina squared and laid a sacrifice bunt down the third base line that was fielded by Viramontes. His throw to first was high and went over the glove of the first baseman Rodriguez. Gomez scored and De La Cruz went to third to give the Mets their first lead of the day, 1-0. After back-to-back strike outs of Jeff McNeil and Phillip Evans, Viramontes ended his night by walking Cam Maron to load the bases again. Joe Ayrault called on Stephen Peterson out of the bullpen to face the switch-hitting Jared King. Peterson did his job by forcing a weak ground ball to short, but Arcia's throw was late. De La Cruz sped home with another run to extend the Mets lead to two. It was on this play that Arcia came up lame and was removed from the ballgame. He was checked on earlier in the ballgame after he fielded a ground ball up the middle in the fourth, but remained in the contest. Sermo would come in to play third base, while Macias moved over to finish the game at short. St. Lucie tacked on another run off Peterson in the sixth. After a lead-off single by Gavin Cecchini and a walk to Gomez, De La Cruz sacrifice bunted both runners to second and third. Pina then followed with a sacrifice fly to right to increase the St. Lucie lead to 3-0. The loss put a damper on a fabulous spot start by left-hander Mike Strong (1-1, 2.87 ERA). The former Oklahoma State Cowboy, who was making his first start since August 20 of last year with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, allowed three hits and two walks over four scoreless frames. His counterpart was even more impressive, as Michael Fulmer (4-8, 4.08) scattered four hits and a walk over six shutout innings. The Oklahoma native showed his dominance by using his mid-90's fastball to strike out nine Manatees (14-8, 50-38) en route to his fourth win of the season. Brevard County will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night, as their series with St. Lucie shifts to Space Coast Stadium with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. Hobbs Johnson (9-6, 3.01) will go for his Florida State League-leading 10th win of the season against right-hander Kevin McGowan (2-1, 2.16), who will make his fourth start with the team since being called up from Class-A Savannah. Final: St, Lucie 1, Brevard County 6 Wagner leads 'Tees past Mets in Game One, 6-1 Wagner picks up fifth straight win in his first complete game of the season By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/9/1/0/79023910/cuts/Wagner_6.9_2_640x360_7uvs3t7p_f5yujoqp.jpg Brevard County Manatees starting pitcher Tyler Wagne, seen from a game earlier this year, tossed his first complete game of the season in a 6-1 victory over the St. Lucie Mets in game one of Thursday's doubleheader at Tradition Field. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Behind another phenomenal outing from Tyler Wagner (9-4, 1.71 ERA) and a pair of doubles from Tyrone Taylor the Brevard County Manatees defeated the St. Lucie Mets, 6-1 in game one of Thursday's doubleheader at Tradition Field. Despite a two-hour and thirty-two minute delay before first pitch due to poor field conditions, Wagner showed no sign of rust. He stifled St. Lucie (15-8 second half, 55-37 overall) en route to his first complete game since May 8 of last year with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The former Utah Ute did not record the high strikeout numbers that he had in his past few outings, but he was effective nonetheless. Wagner was strong over all seven innings, allowing just one run, a solo blast by Eudy Pina in the third, on four hits. He struck out just one, but did not walk a batter. With the victory, Wagner put himself in a four-way tie with teammate Hobbs Johnson, Bradenton's Chad Kuhl and Fort Myers' Jose Berrios for the Florida State League-lead in wins with nine. He also lowered his league-best ERA to an incredible 1.71. Wagner finished his night with a flourish. He retired the final 11 batters he faced and 14 of the last 15, as he recorded his fifth straight win. In his last five starts, Wagner has been untouchable. He has allowed a measly two runs over his last 34.1 innings which equates to a mind-boggling 0.52 ERA. Wagner got all the support he needed when the Manatees (14-7, 50-37) offense exploded and set the tone for the rest of the game. After Brandon Macias led off with an infield single to short, Nathan Orf followed with a single to left. Orlando Arcia attempted to sacrifice the runners to second and third, but his bunt did not hug the third base line enough. Mets starter and Major League rehabber John Lannan (0-2, 7.88) shot off the mound and threw on to third to get the force for out number one. That brought Taylor to the plate, who made Arcia's mistake an afterthought. The 'Tees center fielder cranked a double into the gap in left-center field. Both Orf and Arcia scampered home and Brevard County had the game's first lead, 2-0. After Pina's home run trimmed the lead to one going to the fourth, Brevard rallied back for two more in the fourth. The rally began with a double to left by Mike Garza and a single to right by Alfredo Rodriguez, which put runners on the corners with nobody out. Macias would bring home Garza with a sacrifice fly to center to extend the 'Tees lead to 3-1. Following an Orf single, Arcia drove home another run with a single to right to push the Manatees advantage to three, 4-1. Brevard County pushed across two more runs with tallies in the fifth and seventh. Michael Reed started the fifth with a triple to right off Mets reliever Seth Lugo and scored on a lined single to right by Garza. In the seventh, Taylor drove his second double of the game and 33rd two-bagger of the year to left and raced home on a single through the box by Cameron Garfield. The Manatees offense finished an impressive game with a whopping 14 base-hits. The 'Tees recorded four extra-base hits and four players - Orf, Taylor, Garfield and Garza - put together multi-hit nights. Garza's performance stood out most of all, as the Manatees first baseman pieced together a season-high four hits, which also tied a career-high. Brevard County Bpx Score Brevard County Play-By-Play

Final: Charlotte 5, Brevard County 7 Magnifico deals 'Tees to 7-5 win over Crabs By Andrew Luftglass / Brevard County Manatees http://brevardcounty.manatees.milb.com/assets/images/3/6/4/75388364/cuts/Magnifico_5.13_1_640x360_7ilhlgya_m8heb8mx.jpg Brevard County Manatees starting pitcher Damien Magnifico gave up just one run over eight innings to defeat the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday night at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - Behind eight stellar innings by Damien Magnifico and one terrific catch by center fielder Tyrone Taylor, the Brevard County Manatees disposed of the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday night at Space Coast Stadium, 7-5. Magnifico (6-5, 3.70 ERA) faltered once in the first inning when Patrick Leonard ripped an RBI single to left and gave the Stone Crabs (7-17 second half, 38-53 overall) a 1-0 lead. That, however was the only run Magnifico allowed all evening. Charlotte almost got to the Manatees' (13-7, 49-37) starter in his final inning of work. Leonard came in the eighth with a runner on first, two outs and his Stone Crabs trailing, 7-1. The powerful designated hitter launched a ball just to the left of dead center that looked like it would make it over the wall for a two-run homer. Taylor, however, raced after the fly ball, climbed the wall and made a spectacular grab. Brevard County's center fielder nearly toppled over the wall, but he held on to rob Leonard of a sure home run and end the inning. Taylor's catch ended Magnifico's night. The starter allowed just the one run through eight innings. He surrendered six hits, walked one and struck out five to pick up his first win in July. The 'Tees rebounded quickly from Charlotte's early run. In the bottom of the first, Brevard took advantage of two Stone Crabs errors to take a 2-1 lead. Nathan Orf reached on an error by Charlotte shortstop Leonardo Reginatto to lead off the inning. The next batter, Orlando Arcia, singled up the middle and Orf bolted to third. With Taylor at the plate, Arcia took off for second and catcher Luke Bailey's throw skipped into center field. Orf scored easily to tie the game at 1-1. In the meantime, Arcia moved to third on the error. He later scored on a Michael Reed sacrifice fly to put Brevard County on top for the first time in the ballgame. The 'Tees tacked on four more runs in the second against Charlotte starter Marcus Jensen. Mike Garza and Alfredo Rodriguez hit back-to-back singles to start the inning and Brandon Macias worked a one-out walk to load the bases. Orf hit a fly ball to center that was plenty deep enough to score Garza and put the 'Tees further ahead, 3-1. Arcia was next up and he not only roped a two-run single, but miraculously advanced to third base with a couple of nimble maneuvers. Brevard's number two hitter smacked a single to left that scored both Rodriguez and Macias. He then tried to run to second when Josh Sale's throw went toward home. Charlotte redirected the throw toward second base and Arcia beat the throw, but slid past the bag. Stone Crabs second baseman Tommy Coyle tried to apply the tag to Arcia, but he danced away and headed to third. At this point, Charlotte had Arcia caught in a rundown and he looked to be dead to rights. Coyle threw to third baseman Tyler Goeddel and Arcia began to cautiously jog back toward second. As Goeddel tried to tag Arcia, the runner stopped in his tracks, hopped backwards and spun around away. Arcia scrambled to third base and was in there safely. After Arcia's acrobatic moves placed him 90 feet from home, Taylor dropped down an unexpected bunt toward third. Arcia came home and Taylor made it to first with an RBI bunt single to give Brevard a 6-1 lead. Victor Roache added the Manatees' final run the following hinning when he lifted his 11th home run of the season over the right field wall. Charlotte made a comeback bid in the ninth. Sale got things started against lefty reliever Trevor Seidenberger with a one-out triple and Ariel Soriano knocked him in with a double. Seidenberger then walked Jonathan Quinonez to put a pair on. After the walk, Luke Bailey lifted a three-run homer well over the left field wall to pull Charlotte within two runs at 7-5. Scott Lieser came in from the bullpen to close the door. He struck out Marty Gantt and Coyle in consecutive fashion to end the ballgame. Lieser picked up his first career save in the process. Jensen (3-4, 3.60 ERA) took the loss for Charlotte. He allowed seven runs (five earned) over just three innings. The spot-starter gave up six hits, walked one and struck out two. Final: Charlotte 1, Brevard County 2 'Tees rally in ninth to walk-off Charlotte, 2-1 Manatees score two runs in the ninth for their first walk-off win of the year By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/2/0/0/80838200/cuts/Taylor_5.9_640x360_i6rzzjgg_mkyc2dii.jpg Brevard County center fielder Tyrone Taylor, seen here in a game from earlier this season, hit a double and scored the game-tying run in the Manatees walk-off 2-1 win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - It took until July 12, but the Brevard County Manatees finally recorded their first walk-off win of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. It all started with Tyrone Taylor in the bottom of the ninth inning. Trailing 1-0, Taylor smacked a deep fly ball to straight away center field. Ariel Soriano chased it all the way to the warning track, but the ball landed over his head for a lead-off double. The next batter, Cameron Garfield, wasted no time in tying the ballgame. The 'Tees catcher demolished a ball to roughly the same spot as Taylor. Once again, the ball tailed over the head of Soriano. Taylor scored easily and Garfield motored into third with an RBI triple. Stone Crabs reliever Kevin Brandt then issued an intentional walk to Victor Roache. With runners now at first and third, Brandt elected to pitch to Mike Garza. The move paid off, as Garza hit a slow tapper back to the mound. Roache advanced to second, but Garza was retired for out number one. Instead of giving Alfredo Rodriguez a free pass to load the bases and create a force at every base, Brandt chose to pitch to him, as well. With the infield in, Rodriguez hit a ground ball into the hole between third and short. Leonardo Reginatto made a backhand stop to keep the ball in the infield, but his throw to the plate was high and Garfield slid in safely to score the game-winning run. The walk-off victory was the first by the Manatees (12-7 second half, 48-37 overall) since T.J. Mittelstaedt hit a walk-off home run to defeat the Jupiter Hammerheads on June 10 of last year. Charlotte (7-16, 38-52) grabbed the lead in the eighth inning, but not without some controversy. With two outs, reliever Stephen Peterson faced off against Josh Sale. The left-handed hitter poked a high fly ball to deep right-center field that Taylor chased all the way to the wall. He leaped to make the catch, but came up short, as he banged into the padding. Michael Reed scurried to get the ball back into the infield, but Sale was already standing at third. The play created confusion, with both teams unsure of whether or not the ball cleared the fence. Base umpire Josh Winter took charge and ruled that it was indeed a home run. Brevard County manager Joe Ayrault came out to argue the call, but it was to no avail. Ayrault was ejected and the Stone Crabs had a 1-0 lead. Both starters were phenomenal, but neither factored into the decision. After two-plus weeks of rest, Hobbs Johnson (9-6, 3.01 ERA) showed no rust and was stellar for the Manatees. The left-hander shutout the Stone Crabs over six innings and allowed just two base-hits. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. Unfortunately, Johnson's night ended prematurely. After throwing his warmup pitches in the top of the seventh, he was removed from the ballgame with apparent heat prostration. Charlotte's starter Reinaldo Lopez (4-4, 3.69) matched Johnson every step of the way. He yielded just four hits and two walks over seven scoreless frames. The Manatees will look to ride the momentum of tonight's victory into another matchup with the Stone Crabs tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. at Space Coast Stadium. Damien Magnifico (5-5, 3.95) will try and shake off a rough outing in his last start against fellow right-hander Marcus Jensen (3-3, 3.05). Brevard County Box Score Brevard County Play-By-Play The Manatees ninth inning walk-off magic. Brevard County Bottom of the 9th Tyrone Taylor doubles (31) on a fly ball to center fielder Ariel Soriano. Cameron Garfield triples (1) on a fly ball to center fielder Ariel Soriano. Final: Charlotte 6, Brevard County 2 Stone Crabs defeat 'Tees in opener, 6-2 Manatees' 10 hits are not enough to emerge victorious By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/9/7/2/73179972/cuts/Garfield_5.26.13_2_640x360_r6kqa6jz_9qieka0j.jpg Manatees catcher Cameron Garfield, seen here in a 2013 file photo, had an RBI double in Friday night's 6-2 loss to the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - Despite racking up 10 hits, the Brevard County Manatees dropped their series opener against the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 6-2 on Friday night at Space Coast Stadium. Stone Crabs starting pitcher Austin Pruitt (5-4, 4.18 ERA) did an excellent job of working through tough situations en route to his fifth win of the season. The right-hander scattered seven hits and two walks over seven shutout innings. Charlotte's (7-15 second half, 38-51 overall) offense struck early and often, as they tallied runs in each of the first four innings. Tommy Coyle led the charge in the first by ripping a single to center and then stealing second base. With two outs, Justin O'Conner cranked a single into right-center field to score Coyle and give Charlotte the early lead, 1-0. In the second it was Julian Ridings who provided the offense for the visitors. After Manatees starter Chad Pierce (2-5, 4.32) retired the first two batters of the frame, Ariel Soriano laced a double down the left field line. It was then Ridings who made Pierce pay. The left-handed swinger crushed a home run off the second level of advertisements in right field for a two-run jack to give Charlotte a three-run cushion. The Stone Crabs tacked on another run in the third. Patrick Leonard and Maxx Tissenbaum sparked the rally with a pair of singles to put runners at first and second with one out. Tyler Goeddel then followed with a line-drive single to left-center field to score Leonard to give Charlotte a 4-0 lead. Again, it was Coyle who got the wheels churning on another Stone Crabs rally in the fourth. The North Carolina product smacked a double down the right field line and advanced to third on a ground out by Leonardo Reginatto. Leonard then drove Coyle home with a sacrifice fly to put Charlotte safely in front, 5-0. The Stone Crabs tacked on their final run in the seventh inning. With reliever Mike Strong now in the ball game, Reginatto led off the frame with a double down the right field line. After Leonard struck out, O'Conner hit a ground ball deep into the hole at short. Orlando Arcia made a tremendous backhand stop, which caught Reginatto dead in his tracks between second and third. However, Arcia's off-balance throw to second was low and snuck underneath the glove of Nathan Orf and into right field. That allowed Reginatto to score all the way from second and push Charlotte's advantage to 6-0. Brevard's (11-7, 47-37) bats came through in the eighth, but it was a case of too little, too late. Tyrone Taylor started the charge with a pop fly to shallow center that Ariel Soriano could not find. The ball dropped in safely and Taylor ended up at second base with his 30th double of the year. Cameron Garfield followed with an RBI double to right and Mike Garza snuck a soft line drive over the head of the shortstop Reginatto for a run-scoring single to cut the lead to 6-2. The comeback ended there, as Alfredo Rodriguez struck out the end the inning. Pierce took his fifth loss of the year in the spot start. He allowed five runs on nine hits in four innings of work. He struck out two and did not walk a batter. Strong had another impressive outing out of the bullpen. The left-hander allowed just one unearned run over three frames. He allowed two hits and struck out three. With tonight's performance, Strong has not allowed an earned run in his last 11.2 innings. The Manatees will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night, as they take on the Stone Crabs again at Space Coast Stadium with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. Hobbs Johnson (9-6, 3.23), who had his start on Thursday pushed back due to rain, will look to record his FSL-best 10th win of the year. Reinaldo Lopez (4-4, 3.97) will toe the rubber tomorrow evening for Charlotte. Brevard County Box Score Victor Roache went 2-for-3 and drew a walk in his four plate appearances. That's three straight two-hit games for Roache who is hitting .500 over his last four games. Tyrone Taylor also went 2-for-4 and hit his team leading 30th double of the year. Cameron Garfield doubled and walked. Chad Pierce struggled, allowing five runs on nine hits in just four innings. Mike Strong followed with three innings in which he allowed just an unearned run and Mark Williams got some action before he starts his suspension, tossing two scoreless frames. Brevard County Play-By-Play The Manatees tried to mount a rally late but left a couple more runners stranded on base. Final: Brevard County 3, Lakeland 1 Wagner leads 'Tees over Tigers, 3-1 By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/4/8/0/74526480/cuts/Wagner_4.14_640x360_tdknhxp5_olre0831.jpg Brevard County starting pitcher Tyler Wagner extended his scoreless innings streak to 27.1 innings before giving up a home run to Connor Harrell with one out in the ninth inning on Wednesday night. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) LAKELAND, Fla. - Behind another dominant performance by Tyler Wagner (8-4, 1.74 ERA), the Brevard County Manatees upended the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 3-1 at Joker Marchant Stadium on Wednesday night. From the get go, Wagner was locked in. The Las Vegas native worked around a jam in the third and caught fire in the middle innings. After a lead-off single by Chad Wright in the fourth, Wagner went on to retire 16 straight batters. It ended when Connor Harrell's home run in the bottom of the ninth snapped his 27.1 scoreless inning streak. Wagner's night ended after he walked the next batter, Jeff McVaney, on five pitches. The former fifth round pick finished with one run allowed on five hits. He walked one and tied a season-high with nine strikeouts in a year-best 8.1 innings of work. In his last four starts, Wagner is 4-0 with an unfathomable 0.32 earned run average. He has surrendered just 12 hits and walked seven batters, which gives him an equally stellar 0.70 WHIP. With his effort tonight, Wagner now has a Florida State League-leading 1.74 ERA. Mark Williams came out of the bullpen and had trouble locating the strike zone, but was able to close out Wagner's victory and end the Manatees (11-6 second half, 47-36 overall) three-game losing streak. After walking the bases loaded with two outs, Williams forced James Robbins to ground out to first to end the threat and the ball game. The 'Tees gave Wagner some early run support, courtesy of an unsung hero. In the top of the third, Alfredo Rodriguez crushed a 0-1 pitch from Flying Tigers (4-15, 46-40) starter Josh Turley (7-1, 1.85) onto the berm in left for his first home run of the season. The solo shot gave Brevard the lead, 1-0. Two innings later, Rodriguez struck again. Following a lead-off single by Parker Berberet, Rodriguez slapped one down the line in right. The ball rolled into the corner, which allowed Berberet to score from first with ease. Rodriguez motored into third with an RBI triple and the Brevard advantage was stretched to two. After Nathan Orf struck out and Orlando Arcia flew out to shallow right, Tyrone Taylor delivered the next big blow. The top prospect drove a ball into deep left-center field, but it seemed as if Major League rehabber Andy Dirks was going to track it down. However, the ball caromed off the edge of glove and rolled to the wall. Rodriguez was able to walk home and Taylor hustled into third with the second run-scoring triple of the game to increase the Manatees lead to 3-0. With the win, Brevard County handed Turley his first loss of the season. The left-hander had a solid game, but was no match for Wagner tonight. Turley allowed all three runs on eight hits over seven frames. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Overall, the Manatees had another quality offensive performance. Three players - Berberet, Rodriguez and Victor Roache - recorded two-hit games. As well, the 'Tees tallied five extra-base hits - two doubles, two triples and a home run - en route to victory. Brevard County and Lakeland will meet again tomorrow at Joker Marchant Stadium with the rubber match slated for 6:30 p.m. Hobbs Johnson (9-6, 3.23) will look to pick up his FSL-best 10th win against Lakeland's right-hander Yorfrank Lopez (4-6, 4.60). Brevard County Box Score Prior to the ninth inning tonight, Tyler Wagner had not give up a run since June 3rd. To put in to perspective how dominant Wagner has been, he had a 2.04 ERA in June and that was his worst month of the season. As mentioned above, his nine punchouts tied a season high. Victor Roache collected two hits for the second night in a row and is 5-for-11 over the last three games. Mark Williams earned the save and has now made 12 appearances without allowing an earned run since being promoted to BC. Brevard County Play-By-Play The Manatees scored a pair of runs in the fifth courtesy of two triples. Brevard County Top of the 5th Parker Berberet singles on a fly ball to right fielder Jeff McVaney. Final: Brevard County 2, Lakeland 9 Flying Tigers trounce 'Tees in opener, 9-2 By Justin Rocke / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/3/4/6/74367346/cuts/Roache_4.15_640x360_tlhvsmhy_gpksg11b.jpg Brevard County left fielder Victor Roache - seen here in a game from earlier this season - turned in his second multi-homer game of the season with a pair of long balls against the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday night. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) LAKELAND, Fla. - Despite a big two home run performance by Victor Roache, the Brevard County Manatees fell to the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 9-2 at Joker Marchant Stadium on Tuesday night. Roache, who had a three home run performance for Brevard County (10-6 second half, 46-36 overall) against Clearwater on May 4, had another magical performance tonight. Trailing 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Roache uncorked on a pitch from Lakeland starter Kevin Eichhorn (5-2, 2.40 ERA). The Milwaukee Brewers first round pick from 2012 crushed it deep to left field. The ball ended up on the concrete walkway behind the berm in left field, as the 'Tees trimmed the lead to one. Now down 9-1 in the seventh, Roache delivered again. This time against reliever Tyler Clark, Roache blasted another ball to deep left. This one didn't carry as far, but still landed a quarter of the way up the berm for another solo shot. Unfortunately for the Manatees, that was all the excitement the game featured. Lakeland's (4-14, 46-39) bats exploded for nine runs in the game's middle three innings to snap the team's 10-game losing streak. It all went downhill in the fourth, when Major League rehabber Andy Dirks picked up the Flying Tigers' first hit with a single to center. After a sacrifice bunt and another single put runners at the corners, things began to get wacky. With one out, Connor Harrell hit a tapper back to Manatees starter Jorge Lopez (8-4, 3.26). The right-hander spun and threw towards second base, but neither shortstop Orlando Arcia nor second baseman Nathan Orf was at the bag yet. Orf finally received the ball and stepped on the base for the force, but his rushed relay throw to first was high and Harrell was safe. Instead of an inning-ending double play, Lakeland was on the board with a 1-0 lead. The craziness was not over, as Lance Durham followed with a single to right. With Austin Green at the plate, Durham broke for second base. As Cameron Garfield threw down to second, Harrell broke for the plate. Orf's throw back to the dish was late and Harrell slid in safely with a swipe of home to extend the lead to two. The Flying Tigers attack did not stop there, as they tacked four more runs in the fifth on a RBI single by Jared Reaves and a two-run triple by Curt Powell, who later came around to score on a wild pitch. Lakeland finally put the game out of reach with a pair of home runs off reliever Martin Viramontes in the sixth. Durham cracked a solo shot that hugged the right field foul pole for his third blast of the year. Three batters later, Reaves unloaded and drilled a pitch three-quarters of the way up the berm in left to extend Lakeland's lead to 9-1. Brevard did have its fair share of opportunities to score, but could not tally the big base knock. After Roache's blast in the fifth, Brevard County loaded the bases with one out. Arcia hit a shallow fly ball to center that was tracked down by Harrell. Alfredo Rodriguez, who reached on a single, was then gunned out at the plate, as he tried to tag from third to score the tying run. Following another Roache long ball in the seventh, the Manatees missed another opportunity to capitalize. With runners at first and second and one out, Orf hit a soft flair towards first. James Robbins made the catch coming in and tagged out Jose Sermo, who was going back to first after taking his lead, for an inning-ending double play. The Manatees' bats certainly got enough hits, as the team recorded 10 base knocks. Four players - Orf, Roache, Rodriguez and Sermo - all recorded two-hit nights. However, Roache's two homers were the only extra base-hits the 'Tees recorded in the ballgame. Lopez took just his second loss since May 9. The Puerto Rico native was phenomenal through three innings, before things fell apart in the fourth. Lopez retired the first nine he faced and struck out four batters on just 30 pitches. However, in his final two innings, he allowed a season-high six runs on seven hits. He finished the night with one walk and six strike outs. Eichhorn picked up his first win against the Manatees in 2014. The right-hander allowed just one run on five hits, walked two and struck out three over five innings of work. Brevard County will look to end their three-game skid against Lakeland tomorrow, as they battle again at 6:30 p.m. at Joker Marchant Stadium. The game will feature an outstanding pitching matching, as the top two active ERA leaders in the Florida State League will square off. Tyler Wagner (7-4, 1.81) will get the start for the 'Tees against the Flying Tigers' Josh Turley (7-0, 1.69). Brevard County Box Score Brevard County Play-By-Play

(Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - After losing the completion of a suspended game earlier in the day, the Brevard County Manatees fell to the Clearwater Threshers in a seven-inning contest, 7-3 at Space Coast Stadium on Monday night. Clearwater jumped in front in a hurry. After Brevard's starter Damien Magnifico hit Roman Quinn to begin the game, Everett Williams slammed an RBI double to open the scoring. Williams was later retired on a ground ball to third base off the bat of Brandon Short. The runner tried to advance to third when Nicky Delmonico bobbled the ball. However, Magnifico covered third and Delmonico threw to him for the tag-out. Short reached first on the play and Art Charles worked a walk to bring Brian Pointer to the dish. Pointer delivered the big blow of the inning, as he lifted a homer to left that gave the Threshers a 4-0 lead in the opening frame. In the bottom of the third, the Manatees mounted a big rally to pull within one run. Parker Berberet and Jose Sermo hit back-to-back singles, but Nathan Orf rolled into a 6-4-3 double play. Sermo and Orf were retired, but Berberet moved to third with two outs. Orlando Arcia then worked a walk to put runners on the corners and Tyrone Taylor put the 'Tees on the board with an unlikely double. Taylor ripped a single up the middle and Clearwater second baseman Anthony Phillips dove after it. The ball deflected off of Phillips' glove and toward shortstop. Berberet scored easily and Taylor hustled up to second with an infield two-bagger. The Manatees had Arcia on third and Taylor on second for Michael Reed with a chance to tighten the score. Reed rolled a single up the middle that scored both runners and the 'Tees only trailed, 4-3. Clearwater, however, pulled away in the fifth. After Phillips led off with a single, Quinn dropped a bunt single down the third base line. Crawford then singled to load the bases for Williams. The left fielder had already roped an RBI double, plus a single and he added another knock with a two-run single to put the Threshers further ahead. A sacrifice fly by Short scored Crawford shortly thereafter and Clearwater led, 7-3. Threshers starter Mark Leiter kept the Manatees from threatening again. The only runs he allowed over his six innings came in the third. Leiter (1-0, 3.46 ERA) struck out five, walked one and surrendered seven hits. Magnifico (5-5, 3.95 ERA) eventually took the loss after he allowed seven runs in 4.1 innings. The starter gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out three. Before Lee Ridenhour closed the game out for Clearwater in the bottom of the seventh, five players were ejected in the top of the inning. Manatees reliever Mark Williams was tossed first after throwing a pitch that nearly hit Crawford. Arcia and Jose Sermo of the 'Tees and Clearwater's Brian Pointer and Corey Bass were also ejected. Leiter had hit Arcia with a pitch in the fifth inning. Following a pair of losses on Monday night, the 'Tees will head to Lakeland to start a three-game series against the Flying Tigers on Tuesday. Brevard County is expected to throw Jorge Lopez (8-3, 2.83 ERA) against Kevin Eichhorn (4-2, 2.44 ERA). First pitch at Joker Marchant Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Brevard County Box Score Michael Reed went 2-for-3 and knocked in a pair of runs and Orlando Arcia was on base three times with a single, a walk and a hit by pitch. As previously mentioned, some fireworks late in this one. You would have to think it goes back to Arcia getting thrown at a couple of times last week when he was destroying Clearwater pitching. He got plunked tonight and things escalated from there. I'm sure I'm biased, but if I were in Arcia's shoes I'd probably be ready to fight too. He does his job (and does it very well, going 7-for-15 with three doubles and two home runs in a three game series) and his reward is to get head-hunted? Then he has to face the same team again a week later and he's getting thrown at again. So Mark Williams sticks up for his guy, gets tossed and now suddenly Clearwater has a problem with the beanballs? The two teams play each other seven times yet this season, but not again until August so hopefully things cool down by then. The last thing we need is a player of Arcia's caliber getting hurt because a pitcher would rather thrown at him than man up and try to get him out. Brevard County Play-By-Play Brevard's three run third Brevard County Bottom of the 3rd Parker Berberet singles on a line drive to right fielder Brian Pointer. Jose Sermo singles on a line drive to right fielder Brian Pointer. Parker Berberet to 2nd. Nathan Orf grounds into a double play, shortstop J. P. Crawford to second baseman Anthony Phillips to first baseman Art Charles. Parker Berberet to 3rd. Jose Sermo out at 2nd. Orlando Arcia walks. Tyrone Taylor doubles (29) on a ground ball to second baseman Anthony Phillips. Parker Berberet scores. Orlando Arcia to 3rd. Michael Reed singles on a line drive to center fielder Roman Quinn. Final: Clearwater 3, Brevard County 0 'Tees shutout in suspended game By Andrew Luftglass / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/7/5/2/80677752/cuts/Orf_6.16_640x360_7vw7dou0_g24jx3p4.jpg Second baseman Nathan Orf had the only two hits for the Manatees in their 3-0 loss to Clearwater. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) Viera, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees were shutout by the Clearwater Threshers, 3-0 in the completion of a suspended game on Monday at Space Coast Stadium. On Sunday night, the 'Tees (10-4 second half, 46-34 overall) and Threshers (6-10, 23-61) were supposed to play a doubleheader and Cliff Lee was due to make his first Major League rehab start for Clearwater. The first game and Lee's start, however, were halted in the top of the third inning due to heavy rain. Prior to the rain, Lee pitched two scoreless innings against Brevard County. The four-time All-Star used an inning-ending double play to get out of a jam with a pair of 'Tees on base in the first. He then pitched a one-two-three second inning to finish with two scoreless innings, two strikeouts and one hit allowed. Clearwater opened the scoring with two outs in the top of the third. With the rain coming down hard and the wind whipping at Space Coast Stadium, 'Tees starter Austin Ross inadvertently hit Roman Quinn in the foot with a pitch. The next batter was J.P. Crawford and he hit a fly ball that carried over the left field wall. Immediately after Crawford's homer gave the Threshers a 2-0 lead, the umpiring crew directed the tarp to be put on the field. After a 1:05 delay, the game was suspended until Monday. When the game resumed on Monday night, Clearwater maintained its lead thanks to a solid pitching performance by rookie Aaron Nola. The Phillies' first round pick in this year's draft pitched five shutout innings in relief of Lee. Nola (1-1, 3.18 ERA) struck out five men over his five frames and only allowed one hit en route to his first professional victory. The only hit against Nola was a sixth-inning single by Nathan Orf who delivered the only other 'Tees hit of the game back in the first inning. Though Nola did not appear to need any help, the Threshers tacked on an insurance run in the fifth. With Chad Pierce on the hill, Anthony Phillips drilled a one-out double. Phillips then moved to third on an errant pick-off throw by Brevard County catcher Cameron Garfield. That allowed Quinn to drive in Phillips with a sacrifice fly to center and the Threshers took a 3-0 lead. They went on to win by that score. Ross (7-2, 3.12 ERA) took the loss for the Manatees. His only two runs allowed were on Crawford's home run in the third. Ross pitched 2.2 innings, allowed three hits, hit a batter and struck out two. Brevard County's loss marked just the third time in 10 meetings that the 'Tees had fallen to Clearwater this season. All of those defeats have come at Space Coast Stadium. The 'Tees and Threshers are now finishing their brief two-game series with a seven-inning contest that began approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game. Brevard County Box Score Not much to talk about in this one aside from Nathan Orf's 2-for-3. Trevor Seidenberger tossed two scoreless innings in his Manatees debut. Brevard County Play-By-Play
