  1. Final: DSL Brewers 9, DSL Cardinals 6 DSL Brewers Box Score The Brewers bats came to life in a big way today, racking up nine runs on ten hits. Not surprisingly, Jorge Quiterio led the way, getting on base four times, going 2-for3 with two walks. He also stole a pair of bases and scored three runs. 17-year-old Yeraldy Martinez had his best game of the season as he went 3-for-5 and stole a base. Raphachel Colatosti also had a 3-for-5 game and stole a base. Yunior Santana had a double for the Brewers only extra-base hit. Yosmer Leal's early struggles continued as he allowed three earned runs in just 1.2 innings. He allowed three hits and also walked three. After two scoreless innings in his first outing, Leal has allowed 15 runs in 6.2 innings in his last four appearances. Angel Ventura came on after Leal and gave up two runs, one earned in 5.1 innings. He struck out seven batters and has now K'd 35 in 28.1 innings. Axel Cordero worked the final two innings, allowing one unearned run. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play The game log hasn't been posted yet but with a nine run performance it will surely be worth taking a peak at once they have it up. Of course the five Cardinals errors may have helped the Brewers offense as well.
  2. Final: DSL Cardinals 3, DSL Brewers 1 DSL Brewers Box Score This is starting to sound like a broken record here, but once again, the Brewers pitched well enough to win, but the offense couldn't give them much support and the Brewers lost 3-1. Jorge Quiterio, who has been one of the Brewers bright spots offensively, went 2-for-4 with a double and the team's lone RBI. Juan De Los Santos went 1-for-3 with a double. Gregory Munoz went 1-for-3. Juan Ortiz had a hit in four at bats and also reached on an error but also got picked off first base. Daniel Leonardo and Leudi Otano each committed an error. 19-year-old Pedro Peguero started and fell to 0-3 on the season after allowing two runs in three innings. Melvin Tejada pitched the next four innings and gave up just one run on five hits. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter. Boanerges Nova and Doni Arias each pitched one inning of scoreless relief. 3. Final: DSL Braves 3, DSL Brewers 2 DSL Brewers Box Score Another pretty well pitched game for the Brewers without much offense. Victor Diaz turned in a quality start, going six innings and allowing three runs on four hits. He walked just one and struck out seven. The 19-year-old Venezuelan hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his six starts, yet only has a 2-4 record to show for it. Felix Paulino pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Diaz. Paulino has only allowed two runs in 20.1 innings of work this season. Juan Ortiz had the only multi-hit game for the Brewers, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base. He also got caught stealing. Jorge Quiterio was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Catcher Natanael Mejia had the other Brewers base hit. Raphachel Colatosti, who hadn't played since the 26th, drew a pair of walks. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play The Brewers only runs came in the third inning DSL Brewers Bottom of the 3rd Yerald Martinez called out on strikes. Gregory Munoz hit by pitch. With Jorge Quiterio batting, passed ball by Carlos Martinez, Gregory Munoz to 2nd. Jorge Quiterio doubles (4) on a fly ball to left fielder Kelvin Estevez. Gregory Munoz scores. Juan Ortiz singles on a line drive to left fielder Kelvin Estevez. Jorge Quiterio to 3rd. Yunior Santana out on a sacrifice fly to center fielder Reangelo Willems. Jorge Quiterio scores. Juan De Los Santos strikes out swinging.
  4. Final: DSL Brewers 1, DSL Braves 5 DSL Brewers Box Score The Brewers dropped to 7-18 following today's game, managing just one run on five hits. First baseman Juan De Leon went 2-for-3, while Leudi Otano, playing right field today, doubled for the team's only extra base hit. Juan Ortiz and Yunior Santana each singled for the other two Brewers hits. Gregory Munoz drew the lone walk of the game. Santana was the only Brewers player to attempt to steal a base and he got thrown out. The Braves, on the other hand, went 5-for-5 in steal attempts against catcher Natanael Mejia. Jorge Quiterio committed his fifth error of the season. Miguel Diaz started for the Brewers and went five innings, allowing two runs. He gave up six hits and walked one while striking out five. Nattino Diplan pitched the sixth inning and allowed three runs on two hits and a pair of walks. Joshua Torres pitched the final two scoreless innings of relief. He didn't allow a hit and struck out two. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play The Brewers only run was an unearned run in the seventh DSL BREWERS inning 7 - Torres, Y. to p for Santana, J.. - Otano, L. doubled. - Santana, Y. popped up to 2b. - De Los Santos,J struck out swinging. - De Leon, J. singled, advanced to second on a throwing error by 3b; Otano, L. scored, unearned. - Mejia, N. struck out looking.
  5. Actually, it was Brock Kjeldgaard that left the game with a lower body injury. Kentrail Davis is very deserving of a promotion to AAA. Hopefully with Stang moving up, Davis will be bumped up as well. Ah my bad, the box had Weisenburger in for Davis Birmingham Bottom of the 5th Defensive Substitution: Adam Weisenburger replaces right fielder Kentrail Davis, batting 4th, playing catcher. Defensive switch from catcher to left field for Robinzon Diaz. Defensive Substitution: Kentrail Davis replaces right fielder Kentrail Davis, batting 4th, playing right field. Defensive Substitution: Adam Weisenburger replaces right fielder Kentrail Davis, batting 5th, playing catcher. I especially like the third line where Kentrail Davis replaces Kentrail Davis haha. Thanks for the clarification. Pena to Wisconsin and Taylor to BC would be sweet but that's probably wishful thinking.
  6. Kevin Shackelford and Chadwin Stang apparently heading to Huntsville. Also Kentrail Davis left the Stars game in the fifth inning. Possibly a promotion to AAA for him? Or perhaps an injury which prompted the call for Stang? Hopefully it's the former and not the latter.
  7. Final: DSL Blue Jays 5, DSL Brewers 3 (Game Two) DSL Brewers Box Score (Not available online yet) This one went eight innings. I'm guessing it was scheduled for seven but then with the score tied they went to the eighth. The Brewers hurt themselves when their defense fell apart in the top of the eighth, committing two errors and a passed ball that allowed the Blue Jays to score a pair of runs. They also managed just three hits in game two. Yunior Santana had two of the three with a single and his second home run of the year. Santana also drew a walk and scored two runs. Jorge Quiterio, who was the designated hitter in this one, had the other Brewers hit. Juan De Los Santos, Juan De Leon and Raphachel Colatosti each drew a walk. The Brewers went 0-for-3 in stolen base attempts with Santana, Quiterio and Yeraldy Martinez each getting cut down trying to steal. They have now stolen 21 bases and have been caught stealing 23 times. That's not so good. Junior Flores started game two, allowing three runs in four innings of work. He gave up five hits and walked two, while striking out four. Orlando Torres pitched the final four innings in relief and took the loss, giving up two unearned runs in the eighth. He gave up four hits in all, walking one and striking out two. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play (Not available online yet) Yunior Santana tied the game up at 3-3 with a home run to lead off the seventh. They could have had second and third with one out, but ran themselves out of a bigger inning DSL BREWERS inning 7 - Santana, Y. homered, RBI. - De LosStos,J grounded out to 2b. - De Leon, J. walked. - Martinez, Y. pinch ran for De Leon, J.. - Martinez, Y. out at second p to 1b to ss, caught stealing. - Calatosti, R walked. - Calatosti, R advanced to second on a wild pitch. - Munoz, G. flied out to cf. 8. Final: DSL Brewers 4, DSL Blue Jays 3 (Game One) DSL Brewers Box Score The Brewers took game one of their doubleheader 4-3, racking up 11 hits, five of which went for extra bases. They played nine innings in this one instead of the traditional seven for a doubleheader. Catcher Natanael Mejia went 2-for-3 with a double after pinch-hitting for Kevin Martinez in the fourth inning. Juan Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a double. Center fielder Yunior Santana and DH Juan De Leon each went 2-for-4. Gregory Munoz had a triple and 2 RBI in four at bats. Jorge Quiterio and Daniel Leonardo each doubled, while Leonardo drew a walk and stole a base as well. Munoz and Quiterio each committed an error as the Brewers were apparently experimenting with players at different positions on the infield in this one. Ortiz who has played mainly outfield was at first. Leonardo who usually plays shortstop was at second base for the first time in his brief pro career. Munoz was at shortstop and Quiterio who had played mostly at second base, was at third. Joan De La Cruz started and gave up one run in three innings. He gave up just one hit but did walk three batters. Angel Ventura relieved him and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits, while striking out five. He picked up his second win of the season, improving to 2-1. Doni Arias got the final out of the game to record his first save. 9. No Box Score/Game Log for the DSL game yet. I'll get it in the morning or whenever it becomes available.
  10. Final: DSL Brewers 0, DSL Nationals 1 DSL Brewers Box Score The Brewers out-hit the Nationals 6-2, but once again all six hits were singles. Pedro Peguero, Marcos Padilla and Melvin Tejada combined to pitch a terrific game, allowing just one run on two hits. Peguero gave up both of the hits and unfortunately they both came in the fourth inning to push across the game's only run. Padilla and Tejada each pitched two scoreless innings of relief. Padilla walked three batters, but Tejada set down all six hitters he faced in order. Yunior Santana was on base three times for the Brewers offense. He singled twice and was hit by a pitch. Second baseman Jorge Quiterio also had a pair of base hits. Leudi Otano was in right field for this game and went 1-for-3 with a walk. Juan De Leon had the other base hit for the Brewers. Juan De Los Santos walked twice. Quiterio, Santana and Daniel Leonardo each stole a base, while Santana and Otano were each caught stealing. Santana is now just 5-for-11 in stolen base attempts this season. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play The Brewers had their chances in this one. The best may have been in the second inning with runners at second and third and one out, but they couldn't cash in. DSL Brewers Top of the 2nd Leudi Otano walks. Yunior Santana singles on a line drive to left fielder Aldrem Corredor. Leudi Otano to 2nd. Raphachel Colatosti out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Luis Reyes to first baseman Wester Suarez. Leudi Otano to 3rd. Yunior Santana to 2nd. Juan De Leon strikes out swinging. Natanael Mejia grounds out, third baseman Younaifred Aguero to first baseman Wester Suarez The lone run of the game came in the fourth inning on a two out double. DSL Nationals Bottom of the 4th Kelvin Gutierrez strikes out swinging. Kevin Cerda singles on a ground ball to second baseman Jorge Quiterio. Wester Suarez grounds into a force out, third baseman Raphachel Colatosti to second baseman Jorge Quiterio. Kevin Cerda out at 2nd. Wester Suarez to 1st. Younaifred Aguero doubles (2) on a fly ball to center fielder Yunior Santana. Wester Suarez scores. Aldrem Corredor grounds out to first baseman Juan De Leon.
  11. Final: DSL Nationals 1, DSL Brewers 4 DSL Brewers Box Score The top four hitters in the Brewers lineup were a combined 0-for-12 but the bottom six banged out eight hits. All eight hits were singles however. The team also struck out a combined ten times while failing to draw a single walk. Right fielder Yunior Santana went 2-for-4. Second baseman Gregory Munoz also had two hits and an RBI. Left fielder Juan De Los Santos was 1-for-4 and scored a pair of runs. Juan De Leon contributed an RBI single in three at bats. Catcher Leudi Otano and center fielder Yeraldy Martinez had the other two Brewers base hits. The defense was solid as the team played their second straight error-free game. It was a pretty well pitched game for the Brew Crew. Starter Victor Diaz pitched 5.2 innings of three hit, shutout baseball. He did allow five walks, but also struck out five. Felix Paulino worked the final 3.1 innings and gave up just one run on two hits. He walked only one and struck out a pair of Nationals hitters. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play Diaz did a good job of pitching out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the fifth Washington Nationals inning 5 - Pilier, N popped up to 2b. - Aguero, Y. walked. - Tillero, J. singled; Aguero, Y. advanced to second. - Aguero, Y. stole third. - Florentino,D walked; Tillero, J. advanced to second. - Alvarez, T. struck out looking. - Corredor, A. fouled out to 3b. 12. Final: DSL Tigers 2, DSL Brewers 1 DSL Brewers Box Score Catcher Kevin Martinez was the offensive star today for the Brewers. On base all three times before being lifted for a pinch runner, Martinez walked once and had a pair of singles. He also scored the team's only run. Opposing runners were 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts against Martinez. Center fielder Yeraldy Martinez was 1-for-3. 1B Juan De Los Santos was 1-for-4, as was left fielder Juan Ortiz. Third baseman Jorge Quiterio had a hit and an RBI in four at bats. His .352 average is best on the team through the first 20 games. Ortiz stole his second base of the season. He's the only Brewer to have played in every game thus far. The Brewers did not record an extra-base hit in this one, all six hits went for singles. On the bright side the defense played an error-free game. Miguel Diaz was the starting pitcher for the Brewers. It was his second start of the season, though he only worked one inning in his first outing on June 18th. Today he pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out one. Nattino Diplan came on in the fourth and really struggled with his control, walking five of the seven batters he faced, recording just two outs, and picking up his third loss of the young season. Joshua Torres pitched the final 5.1 innings. In easily his best outing of the year, the 19-year-old Puerto Rican righty struck out eight while allowing four hits and walking just one. DSL Brewers Play-By-Play Diplan's control issues in the fourth inning turned out to be the deciding factor in the Brewers loss DSL TIGERS inning 4 - Diplan, N. to p for Diaz, M.. - Valdez, I. walked. Contreras, F grounded out to 3b; Valdez, I. advanced to second. - Pena, Y. walked. - Gonzalez, C. struck out swinging. - Rodriguez, S walked; Pena, Y. advanced to second; Valdez, I. advanced to third. - Leyba, D. walked, RBI; Rodriguez, S advanced to second; Pena, Y. advanced to third; Valdez, I. scored. - Hidalgo, G. walked, RBI; Leyba, D. advanced to second; Rodriguez, S advanced to third; Pena, Y. scored. - Torres, J. to p for Diplan, N.. Joseph, M popped up to ss.
  13. Final: DSL Brewers 21, DSL Tigers 19, 11 innings I bet the Brewers never thought that infielder Raphachel Colatosti would be saving games for them. This was a crazy crazy game that saw the Brewers put up three runs in each of the first three innings, only to give up four in the eighth and five in the ninth, allowing the Tigers to tie the game at 15-15. The Brewers put up a six spot in the 11th inning. The Tigers answered back with four in the bottom of the 11th but the Brewers hung on for the win. The Brewers used nine pitchers in all, including position players Leudi Otano and Colatosti. DSL Brewers Box Score Jorge Quiterio, making his first start at third base, went 4-for-7 with five RBI and fell just a double short of the cycle, belting his first home run of the season. Shortstop Daniel Leonardo continued to impress as well, getting on base five times, with four singles and a walk. Otano went 3-for-7 as the team's DH, prior to entering the game in the 11th to pitch. He also struck out four times. Every Brewers starter except Juan Ortiz had at least one hit. 16. My apologies if I missed it, but has there been a reason given for Hellweg skipping a start? He last pitched on June 11th. Nelson, Narveson and Thornburg are listed as the probables for the next three games. Just wondering if I missed something (injury, call up, personal matter, etc)

He allowed just one hit, but walks were a killer for him as he walked three batters. Axel Cordero gave up one run in his one inning. **milb.com didn't have the box score posted for this game yet. I'm taking off for Iowa in the morning and may not be able to get to it, if someone would be so kind as to link to the box score once it's up, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, I mentioned in the Roll Call thread that I'll be traveling through Wednesday. I can try to post on the DSL games from the hotel but if anybody is free and wants to lend a hand and grab those the next couple days, that would be a big help as well. Thanks!

I can probably still get the DSL games, but I'm always a little leery of hotel internet so if anybody wants to grab the Dominican game this Saturday (6.15) and then next week Mon-Wed (6.17-19) that would be a big help.

  24. Final: Brevard County 2, Daytona (Cubs) 3 (Game Two) 'Tees can't avoid twinbill sweep Brevard jumps ahead early, but falls 3-2 to Daytona By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - In the second game of Sunday night's twinbill, the Brevard County Manatees jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but could not hold on as they were edged by the Daytona Cubs, 3-2 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark and swept in the doubleheader. The Manatees' (31-29) bats came out firing with two runs on four hits in the first inning. Greg Hopkins scored on a Nick Ramirez double, after reaching on a one-out single. After Mitch Haniger reached on an infield single to move Ramirez to third, Cody Hawn drove in Ramirez with a single of his own. Daytona (31-28) answered back with a run in the bottom of the first and the score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth. Then in the sixth, Daytona's John Andreoli led off the inning with a single and then came home to tie the game on a Zeke DeVoss double. DeVoss would score three batters later on a Dustin Geiger single to center. In the top of the seventh, the 'Tees saw Rafael Neda lead off with a single. Chadwin Stang came on to run for Neda and would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt and then to third on a throwing error by Cubs' catcher Taylor Davis as he tried to catch Stang off the bag following a pitch with two outs. Greg Hopkins drew a walk to put the go-ahead run on first, but the runners would be left on the corners as Nick Ramirez struck out looking to end the game. Brent Suter (4-4, 3.67) took the loss as he allowed three runs on five hits, while walking three and striking out two in 5.1 innings of work. Kevin Shackelford relieved Suter in the sixth and prevented further damage by stranding the inherited runners at first and third. The Manatees did not lose any ground in the standings thanks to the earlier doubleheader sweep by Clearwater over Dunedin, but both the Threshers and Cubs passed the Manatees in the Florida State League North Division standings. With seven games remaining in the first half, Brevard County sits in fourth place, but only two and a half games away from the first. A four-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads (32-29) begins on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. and will send the Manatees into the All Star Break. Southpaw Jed Bradley (4-2, 4.68) will represent the 'Tees on the hill and he opposed by right-hander Jose Urena (6-2, 4.37) for the Hammerheads. Brevard County Box Score Rafael Neda led the BC offense in this one, going 2 for 3 with a double. Nick Ramirez also doubled and drew a walk. Greg Hopkins, Mitch Haniger and Cody Hawn each singled. 25. Final: Brevard County 2, Daytona (Cubs) 8 (Game One) Brevard bounced 8-2 by Cubs in game one By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees allowed four runs to the Daytona Cubs in the first three innings and could not bounce back as they dropped the first game of Sunday's doubleheader at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, 8-2. Daytona's John Andreoli and Tim Saunders both reached to start the first and third innings, each stole a base and would come around to score to give Daytona a 4-0 lead. Brevard County (31-28) was able to get leadoff men on base in the second, third and fourth, with Lance Roenicke's third-inning double setting himself up to score on a Greg Hopkins single. Cameron Garfield got on to start the fourth as well and then moved to third on a defensive error that was caused by Garfield attempting to advance on a ball in the dirt and getting caught up in a rundown. Nick Ramirez would then drive Garfield in to cut Daytona's lead in half at 4-2. Garfield was 2-for-3 in the first game of the doubleheader. That would be all that the Manatees would be able to push across though as the Cubs (30-28) would put the game out of reach with a three-run sixth that was highlighted by Dustin Geiger's two-run home run. Manatees' starting pitcher Cody Scarpetta (0-2, 9.00) was charged with the loss as three of the four runs he allowed were earned. He surrendered just two hits with four strikeouts, but three of the five men he walked were able to score in his 2.2 innings of work. Brevard County's bullpen did not fare much better as the duo of Chad Pierce and Matt Miller combine to allow four runs on six hits after Scarpetta exited the game. Brevard County Box Score The Manatees playoff hopes took a hit as they dropped both ends of today's doubleheader. In game one, Cameron Garfield went 2 for 3 at the plate. He scored a run but also allowed six stolen bases and committed his seventh error of the season. He allowed just two hits, but walked five batters. Chad Pierce allowed three more runs in his 2.1 innings of work, and Matt Miller gave up a run in his one inning.
